Enjoy 10 acres shared between 2 sites! The two campsites are large and can accommodate approximately 6 tents comfortably at each. If more is needed let us know we have room and can accommodate. There is a shared bathroom/changing room and trash/recycling between the sites. There is a water point in the barn if you need to fill up on drinking water just make sure you have a container for it. Site includes a picnic table and firepit and many acres with downed trees to salvage. Bundles of firewood can be purchased if needed. This area includes a back pasture and woods with trails throughout for walking/mountain biking. There are many horse trails in the area, if you want to bring your horses that is fine as long as you bring containment for them and clear it with us first. We are approximately 1 mile from a rum river access. There are multiple river trip options from our property. We are also 3 mins from lake george and the Rum River Regional Park for swimming, biking, fishing, boating, and more paddling. There is a Bills gas n grocery as well as a G-will liquors less than a minute from the property. The Ponds golf course is about 4 mins away as well. If you are looking to hit downtown Anoka that is a straight shot and approx 12 mins away. This site is on an active hobby farm that has dogs, cats, horses, chickens, goats, turkeys, and multiple gardens. We have a farm stand by the road where we sell items such as fresh roasted coffee, eggs, BBQ sauce, pickles, maple syrup, hot sauce, and more! We are very pet friendly and like to meet new furry faces, so feel free to bring them along!

Please do not go to the west of the trail to provide ample space for privacy with our neighbors. The red on the map is the camping area with electricity and outhouse. Our personal log cabin is the blue dot but there is a significant tree line in between. If we are there, we are happy to give you a tour. The blue line is the trail. The white area is our property on the river and available for tent only or to hang out for the day if you choose to camp up top. The purple area is where the goats are busy eating. Come and visit them! While the site does not have running water, you’ll be camping right next to our family cabin, and we’re happy to help with anything you might need. We also have friendly goats on the property that guests are welcome to visit! There’s also plenty to explore nearby. Just minutes away, Braham offers a quirky “hole-in-the-wall” bowling alley and some charming local shops. Head north to Pine City for more options, including restaurants, a larger grocery store, and additional shopping. Weekend Trip to Crooked Creek Retreat

Crooked Creek was a perfect oasis away from the city. We really enjoyed the cozy vibes of the cabin, and the walking paths for us to enjoy. We were even provided orange beanies for hunting season, which we greatly appreciated as we went on our hikes! Naomi did a great job of making us feel comfortable and at home, and we would absolutely return.

2 nights at Into The Woods

Where do I even start? Maybe at the fact that we absolutely cannot wait to return?! We had so much fun at “the dome”. The autumn trees worked out perfectly for us – the trees were in full color and the weather mostly cooperated while we were there. The second night we were able to see the stars and MY GOODNESS, it was absolutely spectacular. It was expected to be pretty chilly during the night, so I brought a 10x20ft tarp to lay on the ground and help insulate against it and I think that helped significantly during our second night when the temp was about 36*. We cooked over the fire mostly for meals, but also drove the few minutes to A&W for root beer floats daily. The compostable toilet is located behind a small partition to provide a bit of privacy, but there is also a gas station within three minutes of the site so I just drove to use that one mostly. The solar powered fan circulated the air a bit, but there’s only so much you can move the air around in a dome shaped space… it was 70* on our second day and it got warm inside of the dome pretty quickly. We were able to buy firewood at the Adventure Church lot (five minutes away) and paid $5/bundle in cash at a self-serve stand. This stand is covered, so it had dry wood even after it rained the first night. We loved how secluded it felt without also feeling like we were in the middle of nowhere. Overall, as the first camp like experience for us, it was a roaring success! Highly highly recommend, 10/10.

Tent camped on site one and it was lovely! We got in pretty late so we didn’t get to enjoy the nice fire pit as we were just setting up to sleep. Got up in the AM and took a short walk to see the pretty horses, chicken, and turkeys. The turkeys have pretty big personalities! 10/10

We had a fun time at the Shady Hideaway site! My husband and I, unfortunately, had a rainstorm roll in the first day of our weekend trip, but we still had a lovely time just relaxing in the tent and listening to the rain. The site is very private and a great location to relax and enjoy a weekend out of the cities. We also got to see some super cute goats down the path!

Lazy River campsite was a beautiful location for our family to camp! It was only an hour from the metro area but felt like we were much further out and was very private. There was plenty of space for multiple tents right along the river with a nice fire pit area, kayak and canoe, hammock, and picnic table. It would have been tricky moving all our gear to and from our car to the river area but the hosts were so helpful and assisted us with their 4-wheeler. There was an option to camp right next to the vehicles but we wanted to be next to the water. Outhouse was clean and stocked. Would definitely recommend!

Great little getaway about an hour from the twin cities. Camping area and riverside hang out were both lovely. The hosts were responsive, kind, and helpful. We had a great time sitting by the fire, exploring the river on the canoe, and just hanging out on the riverbank. Campsite was clean and level, easy to park in, and outhouse was super clean! Pro tip: when navigating in, the actual entrance is a bit past where GPS points you. Go PAST the property with the red gate, past the next drive, and then you’ll see the clearing with the outhouse.

This site was perfect!! We have a new pop up trailer that we took out for the first time and it was a fantastic experience! The electrical hook up was conveniently located in the first site area. There is also a tent or boondock site down by the river that you can choose to camp at. Both areas have nice fire pits and wood. Anne and her husband were wonderful! Thanks again!! Will be returning!

Where to go

St. Croix National Scenic Riverway

Campers often look for the waterfall that Taylors Falls was named after—instead, they’re treated to stunning views of rushing water over the St. Croix River Dam. While Taylors Falls doesn’t have a natural waterfall, the dam boasts river views, and hiking opportunities along the St. Croix. Rapids under the Highway 8 bridge make for another great way to admire the powerful river. Stay close to the water in a log cabin or safari tent, and consider making your way further north to Wild River State Park.

Gandy Dancer Trail

Campers can explore 98 miles of the wide, comfortable, car-free, gravel Gandy Dancer Trail that starts in St. Croix and runs north. For a lighter excursion, try the 14-mile Stower Seven Lakes State Trail. Tent campsites in the St. Croix Valley and nearby Interstate State Park make it easy to set up near Gandy Dancer and hike or bike to and from the campsite for a local adventure.

Franconia Sculpture Park

Catch some culture while exploring the outdoors at this 50-acre sculpture park. The free open-air space is accessible to the public with an ever-changing array of works by new artists, and even better, many sculptures are safe to interact with, so kids and adults can enjoy the art walk. Open from 8am to 8pm every day, it’s an ideal spot to hit on a weekend camping trip or last-minute excursions. Find a nearby cabin in the Chisago Lakes for a spacious group stay, or park at an RV campsite and drive to Franconia for a day trip.

When to go

The most popular time to go camping near Taylors Falls is June to late August, when warm weather is comfortable day and night. Spring brings a host of seasonal wildflowers, while vibrant fall colors decorate the trees later in the year—and both seasons offer smaller crowds. Expect snow from late October through mid-April, when nearby terrain parks draw skiers and snowboarders.
