Weekend Trip to Gilles Family Dairy & Woodland
What a special place! The campground was spacious and the wooden tent was luxuriously comfortable. The huge system of hiking trials was well-marked, well-maintained and beautiful, providing some wonderful scenic exercise to break up my solo weekend of quiet reading and writing. Fireflies, beautiful stars, friendly and very helpful hosts — what more could you ask for? Can't wait to come back with my husband.

1 night at Belle Creek Bluff
It was a very sweet setting. We saw incredible amount of native MN woodland plants, and so many kinds of birds, butterflies, dragonflies, and had an amazing firefly light show both nights. The green canopy cabin was a perfect hangout, even in the rain. The only issue we had is we had to cross Belle Creek to get to the cabin, and after 2 days of heavy rain, the creek had a much stronger current and was quite a bit deeper than when we arrived, so the return was very tricky, even a little scary!

This is an amazing spot to camp. JT has done a great job setting this place up. The kids really enjoyed getting accross Belle creek to get to the cabin. When we arrived the water was high. I brought a raft so I was able to get the kids and the gear across. I would definitely recommend this site and we will be back.

Mike and Joan greeted us at their home before Mike drove my wife and I back to the Hilltop Queen. Due to possible thunderstorms they upgraded us from the Wooden Tent. Dinner outside and a movie in the Queen was lovely. In the morning we explored the valley and looked at a few other sites, we definitely want to make another trip!

Host Edward always answered my questions very promptly. The property is a patch of wooded area surrounded by corn fields. It was beautiful! The small cabin is located at the edge of the wooded area and the front porch faces the corn fields. I did hear traffic in the distance and a few airplanes every day; the sounds did not bother me at all. Lots of birds to listen to and watch! The cabin is quite cute on the exterior and basic and rustic on the inside; no electrical or water, although there is a main outhouse and I think a non-potable water source; I had self-contained equipment and supplies so can't speak to either. There is a wood burning stove that I did not need to use because I was plenty warm at night. The windows (4) do not have window coverings and I knew this in advance, so just brought cloth and pins to take care of that. I originally booked two nights and loved the experience so much, I was able to stay a third night (and will be returning for four nights in the fall!) If you like rustic, you will likely love staying at Edward's place! PS while I stayed in the cabin and also no one else on the property, I got to peek at the camp sites as well. I would definitely be delighted to tent camp on any one of the sites; a couple were quite spacious and all had sturdy fire pits.

My partner and I have wanted to stay at the Wooden Tent in the Woods from the day we discovered the Hipcamp app. We were so lucky to be traveling through the area and finally have the opportunity. Mike and Joan did not disappoint! They were super communicative in advance of the stay and let us know everything they would provide and what we needed to bring.
The Wooden Tent in the Woods is only accessible by 4WD/AWD with at least 6 inches of ground clearance, but do not let that deter you! Mike was SO kind to give us and all of our supplies a lift to and from the site.
Kids and kids at heart can use the on-site playground. The fireplace provided was beautiful. The bathroom was SO clean and nice! I especially appreciated the well-sealed recycling and trash bins available at the camp site.
If you are interested in hiking, there are MILES of trails to explore that are mowed and well-maintained. A wonderfully detailed map is provided with landmarks for you to feel confident exploring without getting lost!
The wooden tent was comfortable, cozy, and felt so safe and secure. Overall, we loved our stay and hope to return to the Wooden Tent in the Woods or another of the Gilles Family Dairy and Woodland sites!

2nd time here at the Bluff. Very secluded besides having a few campers cross the creek and were in the meadow next to the cabin. Firewood has a great price at $1.00 per log, Venmo made it super easy to pay. Definitely will be coming back, thanks again JT.

Mike and Joan were great!! Mike took us down to site and Joan came later to bring something we forgot. Great short hiking trails and great setup. Fire pit with wood stocked and good toilet facilities!! I plan to come back!

Cathy and her family were a wonderful host to us. The cabin (hand built by them!) is very comfortable and well/insulated. The forest surrounding the property is beautiful with lots of walking areas. Their kids showed us around the farm and it was so fun to watch how well they care for their animals. The goats were friendly and a highlight of the trip. We would love to visit again and recommend this location to anyone wanting a getaway camping experience.

It was a beautiful, quiet spot. Really fun to brave the creek crossing and then find such a lovely, tranquil spot. Well kept and comfortable (as much as a rustic cabin can be!) Our dog even loved getting to run around and sniff to her heart's content. Would definitely recommend this spot and would love to return.

Well built cabin. Well maintained. Miles of Riverbank to explore. Beautiful stream. Majestic to sit and listen to the rapids at night while sitting around a fire. My boys and I had a great time! Highly Recommend!!

This was a perfect weekend! The cabin was adorable, and smelled like cedar. We really appreciated the hammocks already all strung up at our site. The out house was close to the cabin, and very clean. And our young kids really liked playing on the playground and petting the goats and chickens. Would highly recommend camping here to anyone and may even make it back again ourselves.
