Weekend Trip to Twin Folk Farms

We had a great stay at the cabin! Just enough off grid amenities to make us comfortable but still give us the outdoor adventure we were looking for with our two pups. It was a cold rainy weekend so we weren't able to explore the land as much as we had liked with ticks being about but having such a large, mowed area around the cabin gave the dogs the exercise they needed. Bonus was that the deck was fenced in so the frenchies could run around and play while we enjoyed our morning coffee. We went to Redwing for the day which is only 10 minutes away so this made for a perfect weekend trip. I would highly recommend staying here and we are already planning a trip back this fall.

The accommodations are so comfortable and cozy! I’ve had my best nights sleep here! The grounds are beautiful on the farm. If you take a stroll down to River, it’s so peaceful. The fire pit makes it so healing! Thank you Ashley for such a wonderful experience!

Weekend Trip to Whippletree Farm & Nature Trail

This is our second trip to Whippletree and we love it. Easy access, nice add ons like a composting toilet and firewood, great site, and goats! This time we saw 10+ deer and some turkeys…we’ll be back again for sure.

I would recommend the Farm to anyone. Ashley is great to deal with and is very accommodating. The property sits on beautiful acreage with trees and a river! The room is cozy and the bed is really comfy! I'm so excited I am extending my stay. I would definitely stay here again in my travels. Thanks Ashley!!

The property is beautiful, the directions were clear and Ashley is a great host! The Wrangler room is very comfortable and adorned with great decor! I felt so comfortable there, I would definitely recommend it to anyone. The property has a number of different areas to explore. There is a nice fire pit down by the river and it is so peaceful! This place is so lovely! It's just as beautiful as the photos. It's very private. This is what you camping to be, you're off on your little piece of land just relaxing in nature. Really a little slice of heaven. I will for SURE be back!!

Hike to the top of the bluff for a spectacular view of Welch valley and the ski hill. Hiking NE along Belle Creek can you spot the old model A truck along the banks? Previously a 100 acre century farm, this fertile land was tended to by generations of old time farmers. Their dairy cows pastured in areas which we now graze sheep. The restored quarry provided gravel for the nearby highway restoration and local projects.The property is currently a mix of hay ground, cropland, pasture, forest, and quarry. Twin sisters, Darla and Kayla, and their families live across the road from each other and own the surrounding 140 acres. They keep busy planting/tending trees, making hay, moving fence for grazing animals, operating a farm business called Twin Folk Farms (pastured meat, camps, etc), and raising their families.Learn more about this land:- This site is at the edge of a restored quarry, sheep pasture, and wooded hillside.- The site is tucked down a flat mowed path, so it feels very private and protected. - You can hike up a path to the sheep pasture. Sometimes sheep are there, sometimes elsewhere on the farm. You can hike the other direction and check out the restored quarry. We have paths all around the property, so feel free to respectfully explore.- You can't see the highway from this site, but you can hear it. It's super handy to be able to hop out of your campsite haven and onto the hwy, but be aware that you will hear vehicles.- There's a Mississippi river boat launch a few miles down the road, so feel free to park your boat at the bottom of the quarry driveway.- The Hay Creek riding trails are 25 minutes away, so contact us if you want to set up a place in the quarry to park your horses and trailer for the night. - We are certified to sell meat straight off of the farm (Twin Folk Farms), so contact us if you want to purchase your meat and have it delivered to your campsite. You can also set up a time to come up to the farm and purchase meat. - The beautiful, historic town of Red Wing is 10 minutes from our farm. You'll find a mix of modern amenities and historic shops to suit your fancy.

Located in southeastern Minnesota's driftless region, where you are surrounded by rolling green hills, the Zumbro River and limestone bluffs. Only a half-mile to the quaint town of Mantorville (some call it the Stars Hollow of Minnesota) where you'll find a cute coffee shop, antique stores, a breakfast spot in an old school house, a park on the river, a restaurant built in the 1850s and a saloon with drinks and live music. The Hidden Spring Hideaway is an off-grid, sustainable glamping experience set on a 25-acre working homestead just 15 miles west of Rochester, MN. Along with forest views and trails, don’t be surprised if a few friendly chickens wander by to say hello. Enjoy a pot of coffee or a bottle of wine, among the trees. The bell-shaped canvas tent provides private sleeping accommodations for two (a real queen bed, not an air mattress), an outdoor kitchen space and a gravel patio to relax with a campfire. The property offers walking trails throughout the 25-acre woods with mature trees, an array of birds, flowers, a food forest, wildcraft medicinal herbs and the Zumbro River for guest enjoyment. If you would like a tour of the woodland property, one of the site hosts - Steve (a tree expert), would gladly show you around the land. Please send a message and we will arrange this for you. Please note, the Hidden Spring Hideaway has no running water or electricity. Everything is run on solar, rechargeable batteries and propane. There is adequate lighting inside and outside, plus lanterns, flashlights and headlamps for your use. For drinking, cooking and washing, there is a three-gallon cooler full of water for you. You're welcome to bring more of your own water as well or there is a convenience store a half-mile down the road (Casey's). There is a new outhouse on the property that includes a bench seat toilet. There is compostable material provided to sprinkle in after you finish your business. Handwashing supplies are provided. Firewood is available for purchase. $5 a bundle. Please message me at least a day before your stay to reserve and it will be delivered to the site. Add-on a sauna + cold plunge experience for $75.
