A unique, octagon, cedar log cabin, situated on 40 secluded wooded acres. A short hike over the Sucker River on a storybook foot bridge to a generous deck which surrounds the cabin. You will need to be very physically fit to stay here. You must climb a steep ladder to the loft and do a 2ft step to get off the deck to the marshy land below. The cabin has a main room which holds two sofas and an indoor fireplace. There are games, books, binoculars and a telescope available for guest use. To access the sleeping loft, climb a ladder. The sleeping loft holds a Sleep Number bed. Guests are welcome to use any spices, pantry items and cookware that are in the kitchen. There is no running water in the kitchen or bath. There may be well water in the blue/green jerry cans . You could use that for the sauna or washing dishes. Guests need to bring their own potable water. All sites include a designated campfire ring and tenting area. Just a 7-minute drive from downtown Chisholm and the biking trails at the REDHEAD Mountain Bike Park, this is a great spot to crash for the night or hang out for the weekend! The property has direct access to the Northern Traxx ATV Trail, located just a short drive down Hwy 84. (Ask for directions if you’d like to explore.) Additional parking for utility trailers or extra vehicles may be available in the Collin Sand and Gravel field. Guests are welcome to wander the property trails at their own discretion. About this space The "Kick Back Tiny Shack" has a queen size bed, small futon bed (for a child) along with two single camp cots. This tiny house can sleep up to four people (2-3 most comfortably) depending on your needs. There is a mini fridge with mini freezer along with a mini gas range/oven, microwave, coffee pot and toaster. There is a TV with only local channels available. Wi-Fi is available at nearby restaurants. AT&T works well here; all others are very sketchy. The cabin has a freestanding gas fireplace to keep you cozy and warm. Come prepared to relax. This is a rustic cabin with all amenities so no need to pack up dishes, bedding, towels, etc. (bring sleeping bag and pillow for anything other than the queen size bed.) The kitchen is fully stocked with your basic cooking and dining essentials. If you don't want to do dishes you are welcome to bring your own paper plates, etc. Coffee, Salt, pepper, dish soap and hand soap, toilet paper and one roll of paper towels provided. There is no running water, but you will be supplied with an electric pump faucet with 10 gallons of water for the kitchen sink for doing dishes, etc. There is also a pump faucet for the outhouse sink. You can heat water on the stove with the pot supplied. In addition, 1 gallon of drinking water will be supplied also. There is a heated outhouse next to the cabin which has a shower stall in which you can shower with an electric pump shower, 120 gallons of water and on demand water heater. Towels are provided and if you need more water, you can contact us, and we can refill at our home which is located next door. Please allow notice in case we are not home at the time. The contact information will be provided with your booking confirmation. You have your own private yard on our 6 acres with a BBQ pit in the summer months, firepit and grill off of the back deck year-round. If you chose to bring a four-wheeler, canoe, boat or snowmobile there is plenty of parking space depending on the quantity. Snowmobiles & side by sides are available for rent 3 miles up the road from the cabin. Come and unwind or explore the many wonders that the Northwoods has to offer! A private composting toilet is available at each campsite (we do not have vault toilets), We are 3.5 hours north of Minneapolis, MN., and one hour north of Duluth, MN. The Saint Louis River carry in landing is only 3.2 miles from your site. A 5 mile drive gets you to the Mesabi Trial, over 160 miles of paved hiking and biking trail stretching from the Mississippi River on the west almost to the boundary waters and Ely, MN on the east. Local lakes within a few minute drive have public landings for boat launch and canoe carry in for your boating and fishing enjoyment. The famous Sax-Zim Bog is within a half hour drive and a great place for wildlife photography, and they have an interpretive center and very nice volunteers to help you identify wildlife. We’re about 5 miles south of the United Sates Hockey Hall of Fame; a great day trip for you and your sports minded children. A few miles further and you’re outside the doors of the Natural Harvest Food Co-op; a great shop for organic foods. Get local fresh food for your evening meal. Sneak into Lisa’s raspberry patch for “desert” or pick some hopps from the back fence in September and take them with you for your next home beer batch. I’m told they’re “Cascade Hopps”. They have a grapefruit taste. Mmm good! We invite you to join us. Bring your camping gear, including camp cook stove (sometimes we’re under a fire ban). Ask your dog to bring it’s leash, yes we have a leash law. Warm clothes and light clothing as the weather changes. Rain gear. Your favorite bug repellent. Good hiking boots. You will also hear the "buck wheat" and the "chee-chee" of our guineas calling for each other. Our beautiful forest is our main feature. Since 95% of our land is wooded, we enjoy the great beauty and majesty of the trees. giant is hidden on the northeastern side of our property. His beautiful branches tower over our trails and we have cleared a spot there to rest. Our property extends, via trail, to state land and the Mud Hen Creek. The views are breathtaking! Please come and bring your family and friends! Our campsites' proximity would create a great weekend getaway for a retreat event or a family reunion, as well as a quiet romantic weekend! Here at home we raise chickens, ducks, and guinea fowl. We also have a Catahola Leopard dog named Hickory. She enjoys roaming our Luna Light Trails on the off season. When I was a child, I lived on a church camp property in Uruguay, South America. This plot of land had a grove of the most beautiful, tall, eucalyptus trees in the neighborhood. These trees were the home to Monk Parakeets. These small green parrots are the only members of the parrot family to build stick nests and to nest colonially. Needless to say, they were very loud, but one of my favorite childhood memories! This little plot on the Minnesota map has been our home for the last three and a half years. We have enjoyed our woods and so will you!

The trails are marked in teal lines on the map (some blaze orange ribbons on trees irl) but not state-park-level by any measure (goals!) My buddy who has leased the hunting rights this year maintains the trails from time to time, but be aware of both, overgrowth and marshland. Dress in bright colors. The campsite has a campfire setup, picnic table, firewood pile, other seating areas, space to play games/sports (some equipment provided), grills, propane stoves (propane not provided), an outhouse, borewell water (not drinkable without boiling/treatment but can be used for dishes, washing etc.). The cabin has heat by way of a propane heater. Solar-powered lantern in the cabin can charge cell phones. Turbera Vista Campsite is a peaceful and scenic spot perfect for stargazers and outdoor enthusiasts. We were able to back in our small coupe and set up our tent fairly quick, there was plenty of firewood and the stargazing was amazing, great getaway from the city! David provided us with detailed info of the site and amenities which were basic but thats all we needed! and directions in case we got lost, would definetely return in the near future!

This is our 2nd time camping at their property. This time we decided to camp at a different site and it was perfect! Love the privacy and like always, Patty and Dan were the perfect host! They even started our fire for us since we got there pretty late. We invited them to hang out with us Saturday night while we had the bonfire going. We will definitely be going back again in the spring and fall next year! Totally recommend their campsites!

Let me break it down: Spacious campsite in deep woods, a maze of a trail system for hikes, they set us up with a large container of drinking water, outhouse was premium, they even dropped off fresh vegetables and eggs for us to eat. Unreal host commitment. 9.5 / 10 will go back and camp there. Great base for adventures on the Iron Range.

Weekend Trip to Lakeside Wanderers Refuge-Private!

We really enjoyed our stay on Susan's land! The site is right on the water with a small dock and easy access for a kayak or canoe. We spent a good amount of time fishing from our kayaks and had great luck catching large bass and northern pike. We easily fit 2 vehicles and found 2 good flat spots for our rents (with plenty of room to spare). The fire pit and included wood made the chilly nights pleasant and the stars were beautiful. We did not make use of the sauna but it looked clean and serviceable (also smelled great!). The only real downside was the pit toilet, it could use a little attention and having woodchips available would have helped. That said, it wasn't terrible and it is a pit toilet after all. The site is fairly private but note there are neighbors across the treeline on both sides. They didn't detract from our weekend at all, just note it wasn't completely secluded. Overall I would highly recommend staying here, we will definitely be back!

The cabin was very cozy, easily accessible, and had a great outdoor area to hang out. The stars are so bright here that you could see the Milky Way! There is running water but it comes out slow and cold, so I wouldn’t recommend doing a ton of dishes there but it wasn’t a problem at all for us.

I stayed at Luna Lights Trails (site A-1) for 3 days and 2 nights. The hosts provided free 5-gallon water and firewood. There’s also a really innovative sawdust outhouse with a shower hook for anyone bringing their own setup. The trail to the creek was full of fun surprises; it was so peaceful. The chickens were adorable, too! I wish we had more time to explore, but I’m excited to see the camp grow. Will definitely come back! (I also got to take some moss home with the camp’s approval. 3 nights at Luna Light Trails

We absolutely loved our time at Luna Light Trails. Patty and Dan were such wonderful hosts, we couldn't have asked for better service or nicer people. Their little gift basket gave such a warming welcome feeling. We brought our own kayaks to go down the beautiful creek behind their property. Although the creek is easily accessible from their trails, it is a bit of a hike to portage the kayaks from the camp sites. Dan and Patty already had this all thought out and offer options for transporting them to and from the creek with their ATV. They even have canoes to rent at a very reasonable price. The weather was alittle on the rainy side during our trip. However, the abundance of sturdy trees made it very easy to make a simple canopy, keeping us from having to take shelter in our tent. We will definitely be recommending the Luna Light Trails to everyone we talk to, and highly recommend it for anyone researching through reviews.

Kitchen things like good drinking water, microwave, fridge but must go outside for outhouse or to discard water. The petting farm itself is the most fascinating thing I’ve done in years!! This is a quiet resort with a variety of cabin sizes. Our cozy cabin had all the amenities of home. Yes, each cabin includes the pontoon rental, so you could come and go as you please. The pontoons did not have a huge motor, but neither was the lake. Perfect for fishing and day cruising around the lake. Loved this option since we do not own a boat. We had a great time. Cabin 3 had a full-sized bedroom with an additional futon in the living space.
