The school bus was great! We took our 2 year old on a long trip in Michigan and stayed at multiple 5 star hotels. What was his favorite? The school bus! We enjoyed late night fires and easy slow wake ups! Our son particularly enjoyed opening and closing the bus door manually. In summary, we made fond memories in the school bus!

What makes this site unforgettable is the private rocky beach just steps away. Mornings bring spectacular sunrises over Lake Huron, nights are filled with the sound of waves rolling in, and the shoreline is covered in rocks of every kind waiting to be explored. The campsite itself was spacious and set up with electric hook-up, a picnic table, a firepit, and firewood provided. Well cared for and in a great location, it’s also an easy jumping-off point for Oqueoc Falls and Rogers City. It's definitely on my "visit again" list!

Amazing little spot. Far enough away from the chaos of downtown Petoskey, but close enough to get there for your adventures.
Only 4 camping spots so it feels like you have your own personal campground even when the other spots are occupied.
I will definitely be staying here next time I’m in the area!

Unique stay with a lot of character! Was so glad to see a small AC unit since it was 92 out when we got there. Located close to great sights and a fun little brewery. We enjoyed the cozy rope lights and played cards in the ambiance. We slept so hard it was unreal! Loved the privacy of the location but had a couple chicken visitors! Do read the description well - you need to bring your own everything including TP.

My family and I enjoyed staying in John’s bus. Our three kids stayed in the bus and my wife and I slept in our roof top yep adjacent to the bus. We were out in the Charlevoix-Petoskey area for much of the trip but it was nice to be able to come back to the bus after our excursions. Having a bathroom was nice and we enjoyed having the tables, chairs, and fire ring. There was plenty of room for horseshoes and badminton and we had great views of the stars. The road noise from the highway is a little loud at night but we all had a great time.

We had an amazing time camping on Lee’s property! Everything from the clean grassy site, incredible views of the lake, and the location made this a wonderful experience. Lee and her husband were incredibly welcoming and friendly hosts, it was pleasure meeting them, they went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Would definitely recommend and stay here again when in the area.

1 night at Schoolie Bus Camp & Camping Area
The schoolie was a great place to call home for a few nights in the heart of Charlevoix. The bus was spacious and there was ton of room to run around. We enjoyed yoga in the lawn in the morning and stargazing at night. Although you could see the road from the picnic benches, not many people drove by.
Make sure to bring your own blankets, cookware and dine ware! Otherwise the bus has all of your basic necessities.
Make sure to check out Fisherman’s Island for a beach day and Friske’s Farm Market for great pizza and baked goods (+ fresh cherries and berries)

Lee's property is along the beautiful Intermediate Lake and while it's not directly on the waterfront, the property sits where the road curves and there's a beautiful, open view of the lake.
The designated spot(s) for camping are located out behind the stone house (residence), in a grassy area that butts up to the garage. I believe that there are two spots for camping although I'm not certain how all that works.
I would call the area semi-private rather than private since it's mostly in full view of the residence. There are some privacy trees/shrubs that create a bit of separation.
It's quiet and peaceful and in my opinion a much better experience than most campgrounds!

3 nights at Schoolie Bus Camp & Camping Area
This property is really unique! The bus is simply that: a bus! It has a huge bed, a propane stovetop with oven, a flushable toilet, a dishwashing sink (non-potable water) and an air conditioning unit. The grounds are lovely, open, and off the beaten path. The evenings are quiet and dark, and the days offer comfortable surroundings for reading, play, outdoor cooking (2 grills outdoors,) and all about 2 miles from the beach town of Charlevoix! Highly recommended!!!

We loved Cathy’s site! Easy access for our camper, power on site, fire wood included, maybe 15 footsteps to the beach, and Cathy was there giving the property a fresh mow and to show us around. The campsite is tucked near the trees and there are other homes and sheds nearby but the site still felt very private, quiet and peaceful.
Cathy’s site was a great starting point for the things we wanted to see over the weekend: Cheboygan State Park, Ocqueoc Falls and Alpena. Weekend highlights were dinner at Rosa’s Squeeze Inn, Alpena Flower Festival, and we saw our first ever black bear in the wild as we were driving through Black Mountain Forest area.
It was very sad to see all the tree damage from last winter’s ice storm, but we loved the area and the campsite, highly recommended!

The lake view is incredible and it’s a peaceful and quiet spot. Lots of birdsong and tranquil. We highly recommend a stay. We stayed memorial weekend which was cold and rainy but a perfect time to explore the area via car.
