Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Tucked away on 5 acres of wooded forest, this private campsite offers peaceful walking trails and plenty of room to explore. There’s one site suitable for a small RV, multiple tenting spots, and endless trees perfect for hanging your hammock. At the very end of a dead-end road, the property borders over 1,000 acres of private land, giving you unmatched privacy. On clear nights, it’s an incredible spot for stargazing.Beautiful grassy area surrounded by woods,backs up to a thousand acres .Nice and private camping. Ausable River only 1.5 miles away Restaurant / Bar / Store 2 miles. Great Basecamp for Kayaking, fishing, hunting or just chilling in the woods ...

Whipporwill Hill was perfect spot to camp for proximity to Higgins Lake and AuSable River. Fred was responsive and friendly. Would stay here again.

Tons of whip-poor-wills

My friends and I had a great time staying at Fishinfred's. Private and quiet campground with the great exception of multiple Eastern Whip-poor-wills and Common Nighthawks whose calls will erupt in all directions once the sun sets. Fishinfred is very friendly and his property borders multiple trails and is very nearby to one of Kirtland's Warblers very few breeding grounds. As a frequent birder and camper, this was one of my favorite birding and camping experiences - highly recommend for all birders looking for a close-up experience with Whip-poor-wills or are in the area for the Kirtland's. Thanks Fishinfred!
