We are 13 minutes from South Haven and the lake. 30 minutes from the city of Kalamazoo. And just under an hour from Grand Rapids. About half of the 20 acres is wooded, which is where three of our camp sites, Hammock Haven are located. Each site has a fire ring & picnic table. Three camp sites are located in the pasture. One is at the bottom of the pasture (1) and quite open. It can accommodate larger groups with multiple tents. It can also take a larger RV. A more secluded site (5) is half open and half in light woods., and is located at the top of the pasture. The others are in the middle of the pasture, 2 for sun lovers and 3 for those who prefer more shade. For those who prefer more seclusion, we have cleared three sites in the woods. All sites have a fire ring, or metal fire pit, and picnic table. Some have fire wood boxes (we’re working on making a box for all sites). We have an outdoor propane shower that provides both hot and cold water. This is free. A coffee bar is on the back deck. Coffee is brewing around 7am. We also provide hot water, teas, hot chocolate and cider. Feeling a little peckish before breakfast, or after dinner? Help yourself to a snack. This is all free, though small donations are welcomed. Our goats, poultry, pigs, rabbits, cats and dogs and produce take up about an acre and a half. Then the rest is open space. You are welcome to collect eggs for breakfast and fresh produce from our gardens (additional fee). Use the BBQ or smoker. And even join in on farm chores if you are so inclined. The driveway down the middle of property that leads to the lake was originally a fence line that divided the two pieces of property. The brothers did not get along and their are several stories of their warring on how to maintain the property.My parents bought this piece of property in 1964 and created a camp called "Lakeside Farm Camp", a small all boys camp. The camp has gone through several changes since then but has always been owned by the Edwards family. In 1984 the name was changed to "Cedar Lodge" a coed camp that specializes in English horseback riding and offering high level general camp activities. Enjoy the peace and quiet of our totally private fresh water lake. Take your boat out for a day of fishing or just chill next to the fire. Sites are approximately 50 feet from each other. Half way between Chicago and Detroit is a city named Kalamazoo. Our place is near the intersection of US 131 and I-94, so whichever direction you are traveling is accessible. Whether you are heading to the beauty of "up north" or running between the big cities east and west, this is a great spot to rest and enjoy some down time. Lake Michigan is a 40 minute drive west from here and if you are a bicyclist, you can ride the Kal-Haven Trail from the trail head about 2 miles from here, all the way to the Big Lake and back (35.5 miles one way). We have trails in the woods and open fields to look over, depending on your preference. As of this year, there is no electricity and water hookup, so tents or trailers with electric and water are your option. We have a bell tent available for a single or a couple to stay. On that same site is room for a trailer or tents, if you want to invite your friends, and we've built a cooking shelter and a bath house that has a compost toilet and a shower with on demand hot water from solar energy. We have a horse farm on the property and offer horse experiences (All our activities are done on the ground near or with the horses, so, no riding is offered) at an additional fee. It is expected that you will remain outside the fence from the horses while you are staying, unless you sign a release and are accompanied by the owner to interact with them. We do not allow dogs. There are two campsites cleared in the woods, for tent camping, and more will be cleared in 2025, as time allows. There will be a bathhouse with a compost toilet and on-demand hot water nearby those campsites. If you want to stay before our build, we will offer a lower rate, but expect you to take away your own waste when you leave or clarify with us where whether there is an appropriate place on the property to dispose of it. At some point during the fall of 2025, we are placing a restored vintage 1957 Ideal camper in a separate area of the property. It will have solar power and an indoor compost toilet, with a stove and sink. It will host a single or a couple who can sleep on a full sized mattress. Another sleeping area may be offered from converting the table, but we are not sure how comfortable it will be until we've completed the renovation.

This Lil’ cabin was such a wonderful stay after a day of hiking nearby trails! It had all the creature comforts needed to keep warm, heat up water for cocoa, and the cleanest porta john nearby! Weekend Trip to Dalton Traders Tents RV's Cabins

The cabin was so adorable and it was perfectly warm all night with the little wood stove. Beds were comfortable and I usually have back pain but no issue with the mattresses! The property was beautiful and the host was so kind, he gave is a tour of the cabin and showed us how everything worked, in the morning my dad wanted to see the other cabin and he gave us a mini tour of that one as well. They have a dog on the property but he's super sweet, no barking heard at all. Lovely fall colors and just 15 minutes away from the Muskegon state park off lake Michigan (highly recommend for hikes or picnic). Would come again!

Weekend Trip to Dalton Traders Tents RV's Cabins

Ed’s Grand Cabin was just what we needed for a weekend getaway! The wood stove kept the cabin nice and warm as we had some cold weather and even a little bit of snow as the winter season approaches. It was a nice, quiet space to relax, cook, and enjoy a fire inside and outside the cabin. We enjoyed a walk on the well maintained trails around the property! Definitely would return in the future!

Weekend Trip to Dalton Traders Tents RV's Cabins

Spent the weekend at Ed's with my boyfriend during late October, when the leaves were changing. We were looking for a cozy getaway in the woods, and his cabin/land MORE than delivered. His cabin was stocked with everything (+ some) to keep us entertained, while locking ourselves away from the hustle and bustle of weekly work. Fortunately, we didn't get much cell service here, which gave us the opportunity to be fully disconnected. We filled our days hiking his many trails scattered throughout his beautiful woods, and tending to the outside fire ring and maintaining the fire in the mini wood stove in the cabin. Ed's cabin provided us with the most relaxing weekend and we cannot recommend it enough if you're needing a weekend to slow down, pause, and reflect on your never-ending To-Do list. We will certainly be back in the future! Thank you Ed, for creating such a space like "Dalton Traders Lil' Cabin" for people like us, to enjoy the beautiful luxury of being able to immerse ourselves in the great outdoors.

Great hospitality and communication. Julie helped us out with good directions and updates on the river, as we were canoeing in for the night. She even had a fire going for us when we arrived. Had a great time.

Weekend Trip to Have A Lake Of Your Own!

Great spot. We were the only cabin, so lots of privacy and the bathroom to ourselves. We rented a canoe and purchased firewood, they were ready and waiting upon our arrival. Lake was great to canoe around. Trail loop was short and sweet, but a nice walk through the woods. Seeing the horse get let out in the afternoon was really nice.

1 night at Dalton Traders Tents RV's Cabins

Ed's property was a welcomed retreat during autumn in Michigan. I stayed with my 7 year old and infant and we were delighted with the Grand Cabin. The play structure on the property (built by Ed!) was a major highlight for my 7 year old. We wish we could have stayed longer! The cabin has string lights and lanterns for light, wood stove for heat, and plenty of blankets. We were very cozy on a mild Fall night.

1 night at 2Chicks And A Farm

I don't know where to begin? The place was beautiful upon entry! Beautiful cats to play with everywhere! My son was in heaven :-) we made great friends with a black kitty named Olivia. She hung out with us while we were camping and even shared some of our breakfast eggs! The pathways were lit at night, the TP that we stayed in was and beautiful condition, clean, well stocked with cleaning supplies and a trash can if needed. We had a bundle of wood that was plentiful! The staff was extremely helpful getting me to my site and making sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed! There are vegetables for sale, as well as delicious salsa! The property is extremely well kept and beautiful to look at! Very serene. We had our own fire pit and picnic table also. The campsites were very private, which I really liked. I was very happy that I did not have to share a fire pit with other campers. This was a last-minute trip for my son's 11th birthday and well worth the drive from detroit! We will definitely be back with the rest of the family! I highly recommend two chicks and a farm!

Weekend Trip to Kalamazoo Haven

We loved our stay at this sweet farm. Sandra was so kind and helpful- as was her husband and the woman helping on the farm. The bell tent site was very peaceful with a lovely view of the meadow and tree line. We enjoyed an awesome fire at night…. and loved the presence of horses behind us in the paddock. The tent, covered kitchen area and bathroom are well thought out and so cute! We didn’t use the shower, but it was amazing that it was even an option!! The composting/cassette toilet was very much appreciated and running water to wash hands too! The kitchen area was nice in case of rain. We kept our cooler under there and appreciated the thoughtful items available to use. This was amazing glamping with true connection to nature. We hope to be back!

Weekend Trip to Camp Easy

We absolutely loved this place! We got there later in the evening and the solar lights around the lavu were already lit up making it a beautiful sight to see at first glance. It was very private and we didn't see anyone the whole visit which was nice. However the neighbor across the lake and his turkey call at 8am was not what we wanted to wake up to. Aside from that it was completely perfect and we highly recommend!

Wow, what an absolutely exhilarating camping experience! As part of the Scooter and Boys in Scouting America program, I’ve had my fair share of camping trips, but this one was off the charts! 🌟 Imagine staying in a cozy tipi nestled in the woods, surrounded by a vibrant cast of friends—yes, I’m talking about farm animals! We had encounters with raccoons, cats, dogs, chickens, ducks, rabbits, goats, pigs, and so much more. Each moment was filled with adventure and laughter! And let’s not forget the perks: coffee available 24/7, impeccably maintained toilets, and hot showers to rejuvenate after a day of fun. It’s truly a hidden gem that I can’t recommend enough! We’re definitely coming back for more amazing memories! 👍😎🦝🐶🐈🐔🐷🦆
