This property was once part of an 80 acre farm. It has now grown into a mature forest with deer, turkey, squirrels, chipmunks, many types of songbirds and most recently a family of sandhill cranes. Our most recent improvement is an air conditioner in the Crow's Nest. Sheila grew up just across the road and spent many hours riding her horse and writing poetry on the property. No discharge of firearms is allowed on this property. As a retired artist, we love to entertain creative peaceful people and many think of our place as a quiet sanctuary that encourages creativity. We provide games, both outdoor and indoor, a screen house, hammock, nature trails and a new camp store with local items and snacks. There is an Amish community close by and a tour map is provided. We are also close to the largest canopy walk in the US at Whiting Forest and Dow Gardens. Only 25 minutes away. There is a small water park in the closest town with a beach. Locally there is tubing and canoeing at the Cedar River in Gladwin and kayaking at Pinconning Park on Saginaw Bay. Guests can explore many antique shops as well as Pinconna and Northwoods Outlet store. Many of our campers never leave the property but choose to relax and watch the life of the forest. We provide linens, towels, and cookware. There is a grill outside and a microwave and oven inside along with a coffee maker and mini fridge.

There is also a putt putt golf, skiing and snow tubing at Snow Snake, arcade, batting cages, bowling, indoor golf, ax throwing, beaches and Wilson State Park. If you have side-by-sides, quads, jeeps, snowmobiles, or dirt bikes, there are endless options with groomed trails in the area for you to ride all day long. We have two cabins, the Harrison Hideaway cabin and Wanderer's Hideaway that can be rented together for larger groups or rented separately. Cabins ARE SMOKE FREE and may not be used as kennels so please keep pets off furnature and don't leave them inside when you are gone. You must bring your own queen sheet set. Steam cleaning the mattress will be an extra charge. Swimming beach is available in Lowell a few miles away. Fishing rivers and lakes are also in the area. (live bait in Saranac) Woods site and Open Area have a few different locations you can choose from. If woods or open shows booked already, please contact me. We have about 40 acres and trails through the area for exploring. You just may come across some "forts" constructed by some of our grandchildren. There is a large fire pit and plenty of firewood for a minimal cost. (Large trash can full. ) If you listen in the evening, you are likely able to hear a couple of owls talking back and forth. Usually you can see some deer and maybe some turkeys. There are many old pines around the property, the last remnants of our Christmas tree farm. There is no electricity in the cabin, but we do have two solar lights and some battery lights. If it's been rainy, the solar won't last as long as usual. If it's chilly, we do have a portable heater available. We have cornhole game available upon request and some table games kept in cabin. If you want to go biking, there is a trail in town, about 5 miles away.

The property is located just (5) miles off I-75 so it's also a convenient mid-trip destination for those on a longer distance excursion. In case you plan on fishing the local hotspots on Lake Huron (15 minutes away) and are trailering a boat, there is plenty of area to park your rig during your stay. It's only a ten-minute drive to Pinconning, where you can experience Michigan's "Cheese Town" and all it has to offer. There's a grocery store, numerous cheese shops, and a variety of party stores and restaurants. For the outdoor enthusiasts, don't miss out on going to the ever-famous "Northwoods Wholesale Outlet". Also nearby is the "Saganing Eagles Landing Casino" in Standish. We have resided here for over 30 years and can assist you in many ways to get the most out of your visit. I had a wonderful stay at this cozy cabin in the woods. The host was incredibly kind and attentive, even checking in during my stay to make sure everything was comfortable. The cabin is very clean, spacious, and well-equipped—with a fire pit, picnic table, three beds, and an outhouse. Despite the temperature dropping to 29°F one night, I stayed warm and comfortable in the dry cabin without needing the propane heater provided. I traveled with two small dogs and felt completely safe. Cooking on-site and having a fire was easy—the host even provided wood, flashlights, complimentary candy, a broom, and a vacuum. The solar panels provided good lighting, and communication was prompt and helpful. Everything exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a peaceful, well-prepared getaway.

The view and bubbling of the brook in the backyard was charming to say the least. In mid-Oct. the wood stove kept us comfortably warm. The furnished kitchen, updated fridge, running cold water sink, and stovetop made meal time smooth. We appreciated the convenience of having home cooked meals made easily. For fairly avid hikers, we LOVED the trails around the property. We hiked for about 2 hours in our short trip and the dirt morning star path was great. Easy elevation changes, superb views of the colorful fall leaves, few and far between encounters with other hikers, and serene nature as far as the eye can see. Accessing the cabin with our SUV was easy despite a 2 track back. Cell service was decent. WiFi was a little slow and low signal but worked. Lots of blankets, lamps, and warmth to make a cozy retreat. Since we were hoping to have a relaxing weekend with minimal screen time, this was just what we needed. The full bed upstairs was comfortable, not too squeaky, and is nicely placed by windows to oversee the brook. We have a young dog that was able to manage the ladder/small steps up to the loft; however, I’d be very cautious if I had a senior dog. We brought a runner lead for our dog in the back yard which was a great way to keep him leashed with a little freedom to roam. Will happily go back (either to this cabin or try another on the acres). Host was thoughtful, eager to help, and communicative. Friendly and welcoming overall.

I loved staying here! There was a slight miscommunication about my site which was quickly resolved. There are lovely trails, a wonderful wildflower field, and a few open areas to take in the view and sun. The firewood portion supplied for $5 was a great deal and lasted me all 48hours i was present. The cabin was minimally but adequately furnished, the outside space includes plenty of seating and table options too. My dog also had a blast with the wide areas and trails to explore. I do photography and got some lovely shots of different plants, flowers, fungi, myself, my dog, etc. The weather was phenomenal during my visit so it was all around a lovely, magical retreat from the corporate life 🖤

The cabin was as expected. It’s in a beautiful space that makes you feel far from the noise of more suburban areas. Luke is such a sweetheart and I felt so protected knowing he was around. Being nestled in the trees was a cherished respite for us on our Spirit Walk. Sheila and Jeff were on the property to welcome us on arrival which was really nice. Their sweet cat supervised as we settled in. We were visited by chipmunks, squirrels, crows, and deer during our stay. Me and my boyfriend had an amazing time at Gabriel’s cabin! It was super cute, loft bed upstairs, a cute kitchenette that was perfect for making breakfast, lunch and dinner! We had such a blast hiking the trials with our two dogs! There is a fire pit that is perfect! The outhouse was the nicest I’ve ever seen! I actually enjoyed the bathtubs/shower outside it was a cool experience and the cold shower was super refreshing! It was a great spot to disconnect from the world and reconnect and just relax!
