Enjoy a peaceful and affordable escape just minutes from Lake Huron with this one-acre private campsite in Au Gres, Michigan. When you book, you get the entire property to yourself—no other campers. The space is clearly marked with pink boundary flags and includes three roomy areas perfect for pitching tents, parking an SUV, or setting up a small campervan. Pop-up campers can fit, but space is tight and better for simple setups.
The front of the property is grassy and open, while the rear features a wooded section with a short walking path. Behind the site is a larger wooded parcel that isn’t part of the Hipcamp, but it adds to the secluded, natural feel.
Just a 4–5 minute walk brings you to a quiet public access point to Lake Huron. The road dead-ends at private homes, and between them is a public footpath to the beach. Before the shoreline, you'll find a small 20-yard-wide wooded area where our guests can set up chairs and enjoy the view—feel free to walk beyond to the sandy beach as well. While the campsite isn’t totally secluded—there are a few nearby homes and occasional daytime traffic—you’ll still enjoy full privacy on your acre with room to unwind, make a fire, and relax under the stars.

Genuinely such an amazing experience at Camp Bear Paw!! Kevin and Lori are phenomenal hosts. It’s truly a hidden gem. There’s activities for kids all ages and adults. Our kids love to swim in the pond, fish, and explore the grounds. There plenty of playgrounds and for the kids to playWe enjoy sitting by the fire using the wood that’s provided.
Kevin and Laurie not only keep the grounds well maintained but they genuinely care. They check on us periodically throughout the stay to see if we need anything. It’s clear to see that providing a memory-filled camping experience is what they strive for.
We have camped at state parks and county parks as well, but Bear Paw rises to the top for us!

Kevin and Lori are so kind and hospitable. They have thought of everything: from towels and extra blankets, to games, crafts, and even ice and worms for fishing, they had it all. There was truly something everyone enjoyed and the kids are already talking about next year.

We had a good time here. It's a nice lot in a nice location. Was very peaceful there every night....and we were there for 14 days and nights. Beach is less than 5 minute walk...river right there for fishing. 👍👍. The host was fantastic. Very easy going and nearby for any questions. They were all friendly and let you be to yourself for the quiet time. Would recommend this place to anybody who don't mind a little rustic camping (some stuff nearby to help) makes it easy. It's suitable for a small pop up or tent no problem. Enjoy!

This was our 5th year here and we look forward to it every year. Kevin and Lori make your stay feel like a 5 star hotel out in nature. Everything you need, or want, is here - including the most helpful, friendly, and generous hosts. I could leave a longer review, but I would just be repeating what everyone else has said. Cute spot! It was a bit confusing to find at first but once I was settled I enjoyed my time. Some of the reviews had me nervous because I’m fairly picky when it comes to wanting an “in nature” experience- though you are fairly close to a road and not completely secluded in the middle of the woods, I thought the campsite itself still felt nice and private and gave me the woodsy feel. Unfortunately I can’t speak on the lake access.. I ended up spending the day in Tawas Point State Park. Anyway I thought it was a good spot 👍

I loved the spot for the campsite. We could get into the site with our suburban. The walk to the beach did feel like walking through someone's back yard but it was a public road. We would definitely come back for the views!

We were invited to join a large party for a family fun camping weekend at bear paw. I was blown away with how beautiful it was here! There is SO much to do! The hosts were absolutely amazing and truly go above and beyond to make sure everyone is comfy and have everything. I would highly recommend camping here. Can't wait to come back!
