This property was once part of an 80 acre farm. It has now grown into a mature forest with deer, turkey, squirrels, chipmunks, many types of songbirds and most recently a family of sandhill cranes. Our most recent improvement is an air conditioner in the Crow's Nest. Sheila grew up just across the road and spent many hours riding her horse and writing poetry on the property.
No discharge of firearms is allowed on this property.
As a retired artist, we love to entertain creative peaceful people and many think of our place as a quiet sanctuary that encourages creativity. We provide games, both outdoor and indoor, a screen house, hammock, nature trails and a new camp store with local items and snacks. There is an Amish community close by and a tour map is provided. We are also close to the largest canopy walk in the US at Whiting Forest and Dow Gardens. Only 25 minutes away. There is a small water park in the closest town with a beach. Locally there is tubing and canoeing at the Cedar River in Gladwin and kayaking at Pinconning Park on Saginaw Bay. Guests can explore many antique shops as well as Pinconna and Northwoods Outlet store. Many of our campers never leave the property but choose to relax and watch the life of the forest.
We provide linens, towels, and cookware. There is a grill outside and a microwave and oven inside along with a coffee maker and mini fridge.

It's only a ten-minute drive to Pinconning, where you can experience Michigan's "Cheese Town" and all it has to offer. There's a grocery store, numerous cheese shops, and a variety of party stores and restaurants. For the outdoor enthusiasts, don't miss out on going to the ever-famous "Northwoods Wholesale Outlet". Also nearby is the "Saganing Eagles Landing Casino" in Standish. We have resided here for over 30 years and can assist you in many ways to get the most out of your visit.
By the way, the definition of the word "Elysium" is "Place of perfect bliss" and yes, we labeled it that long before the movie with Matt Damon was created.

We are across the street from Little Long lake and right up the road from Budd Lake public boat launches. We have deeded lake access to Little Long Lake with use of our paddle boat and kayaks. We can provide parking with a boat, trailer, etc., but will need to be arranged prior to check-in.
There are several restaurants, delivery options, and a grocery store right down the road. There is also a putt putt golf, skiing and snow tubing at Snow Snake, arcade, batting cages, bowling, indoor golf, ax throwing, beaches and Wilson State Park.
If you have side-by-sides, quads, jeeps, snowmobiles, or dirt bikes, there are endless options with groomed trails in the area for you to ride all day long.
Our property has two cabins on property, the Harrison Hideaway cabin and Wanderer's Hideaway that can be rented together for larger groups or rented separately. Please message me if you would like to rent both cabins for you and your guests.

My wife and I are slowly starting up our own little farm. We have 2 indoor cats, 1 outdoor cat, a dog, chickens and lots of ducks. We also starting a business called River’s Edge Lavender which will be a upick lavender and wild flower farm.
We are on 34 acres and have a river that runs through the middle of it. We are 10 minutes from Alma and 20 minutes from Mt Pleasant. Lumberjack park is about 2 minutes away and Stearns preserve is about 5 mins away where you can walk or ride bike on a nice paved trail. We have a small garden that we plant every summer that we use to stock our farm stand. Our farm stand provides veggies (when ready), chicken and ducks eggs, handmade crafts and items from our River’s Edge Lavender business.
We are in a quiet area with lots of wildlife. We have 1 spot near the house with a view of the river that can support electric hook for a smaller RV and can attach a garden hose for water if needed. No public restroom available. We can also provide some fire wood for campfires for a cost that is located on the farm stand . Along the river fires are allowed but must be contained in a fire pit.
We have 3 kayaks and a canoe that can be used with prior consent. There is a park up river where you can put in and then can exit at our house which is about an hour on the river.
We are new to hosting so please provide us with feedback! We are working on the campsites so suggestions are welcome to what can make it better. A porta potty will be available in the future.
Quiet time 11 pm. We are an easy going couple that just want to share this slice of paradise with others!

This spot was the perfect Northwoods getaway. Quiet and calm with very nice property to explore! The house has many amenities and was furnished in a way that was very comfortable for a night in. The pellet stove was a smidge tricky, but after watching a video about it and with Patricia's instructions, we were able to figure it out. Would definitely stay here again!

Weekend Trip to The Crow’s Nest Forest Camp
This was probably the most special cabin experience I have ever had! We got to the cabin after sundown, it was still very easy to find as Jeff had texted us detailed directions as soon as we began driving from home. The boardwalk that leads to the cabin was lit up in blue, waking up was both amazing and very safe. The cabin itself was so cozy and comfortable, the decor was really cool. The bed was very comfortable, the shower was great. Sheila provided a lot of great extra stuff: coffee, firewood, toiletries, dishes , linens and lots of other things. You really just need to bring food and clothing. The trail around the property was beautiful, we loved the signs. We loved the garden and dock. All in all, it was a restorative and wonderful time at the Crows Nest and we would easily come back. We want to thank Sheila and Jeff for everything they do here and their deep hospitality. The world is that much better due to their hard work :)

Happy Camper exceeded our expectations! Not only was the camper itself stocked with everything you'd need - their kitchen was better equipped than my first apartment - it was also homey and inviting.
The fenced in yard was the icing on the cake! There were multiple seating areas - for grilling/dining, around the hot tub, and a great firepit area with plenty of kindling and wood.
There was plenty of space for our dogs to roam off-leash. I truly believe they enjoyed their stay as much as we did.

Jason hosted my family for 2 nights while we attended a nearby music festival. We wanted all the music during the day but be able to retreat to a quiet space & recharge. The cabin by the river is exactly what we needed: camping feel in a comfy & safe place to rest in between busy festival days. It's big enough us with the full size fold-out sofa bed, a loft area with mattress, & my 6' husband could fit a longer, single camping cot on the main floor as well. The mini-fridge is a nice addition to upgraded camping, keeping essentials cool & has an eating/cooking area. We are at the age that tent camping has lost some appeal, but our kiddo wants to "glamp" so we found a happy medium in felt that we were "fancy camping". The temperatures got down to high 40's at night, but the cabin stayed warm & comfy inside, we had just a light blanket & comforters, hubby in sleeping bag & a small Dewalt fan on for noise. It was warm & cozy, not too humid, no musty smells, cute rustic look. Our daughter rated it 4/5 for really comfortable beds and "just the right size cabin" and it "didn't smell like animals". The vibe by the river with the stars, fire pit, & grassy lawn is relaxing with a feeling of privacy & solitude, even with a road nearby. Barefoot yoga, river walk/play, stargazing, smore's by the fire, help us connect with nature. A rustic-feel with no shower, no wi-fi, & an outhouse-style with composting toilet, & no running water. Sheila went above and beyond to make our stay special for our honeymoon. The cabin was cozy and well supplied and had some nice trails around the property. The boardwalk leading up to the cabin looked very cool with the LED light illumination. Would definitely come back!

1 night at The Crow’s Nest Forest Camp
My partner and I went here to celebrate our 5 years together and had such an amazing and cozy time! Sheila was a fantastic host and even set up balloons and chocolate for our celebration which was so sweet! The site was easy to find and was just as described! We also really loved the short trail with positive messages! It was such a cozy stay and made the first leg of our anniversary trip so meaningful! Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a quiet and cozy getaway!

Weekend Trip to Dingle Dangle Acres
This is an amazing cabin with all the amenities a person could ever think of. It really felt like I was staying in my super cool aunts cabin who knew I needed a long break. The land was beautiful, the cabin had so many wonderful cooking options from nice stainless steel to cast iron and easy to use air fryer. Plus a good portion of spices. The beds were so comfy! I need to find out what pillow topper she uses. Was easy to clean with all the mops and scrubs, which is essential when you got doggies. Speaking of doggies, it is hard to ware out a shepherd and a black lab, they slept like logs both nights. They both have pretty good recall, so giving them the opportunity to really run in the woods, around the cleared out area nearby the cabin, and pond was fun for them. It is private, beautifully dark at night so you can see the stars so well. The nearby town of tawas was fantastic. And stop at Joe's Market on the way in on 65 and get the best cut of meat and great sweet corn.
Good internet too! So you can post all the pictures to make your friends jealous.
Seriously relaxing and incredibly enjoyable. Might even be back next weekend.

My family stayed at Cozy Home 1 and 2 for a quiet and relaxing weekend. Jeff was friendly and responsive. When we were inquiring about his kayak rentals, he also gave us some tips on fishing in the area. Both of homes were clean and spacious and fully equipped with everything you need, plus some extras. We had a beautiful view of the bay. Overall, I give the host and space top rating, especially if you're looking for a tranquil place to spend some time.

Group trip
We absolutely loved our stay at the cabin. My son, daughter in law and grandbaby enjoyed hours watching the turtles and fish, walking the trails and meeting the farm animals while learning about Elysiums history. Will always remember morning coffee on the porch, baby's first campfire and playing Frisbee behind the cabin. We hope to return next year!
