Our little slice of heaven is nestled back off the country road- with over 30 acres, we have a beautiful grassy area that has a large fire pit and a natural pond. Some wood is provided for your initial fire; more can be purchased from us for $5 per bundle. We have basic electricity, we also have nice grassy walking paths and a wooded area as well. Our land is very peaceful and safe. The perfect space to unplug and unwind and to recharge yourself.
While we do only consider our space one site, it is large enough for groups as big as 30ppl, with plenty of room to set up tents in your desired areas. Campers and trailers are welcome, size requirements and space; we also restrict where they can be parked.
We are very close to several rivers We are in a very nice happy medium to a lot of Michigan favorite spots.
Come and enjoy the quiet country- and get some amazing star lit skies.

We do a meet and greet with our guests and will show you to the space; go over any information that we need to with you, and then we try and leave you to the space so you can experience it for yourself and enjoy your time.
We are proud to be a certified pollinator sanctuary, and do not spray our property for insects

We bought this property in 2012 and have built several buildings and forged paths throughout the 32 acres. Our road is part of the North Country Trail, a footpath stretching over 4,600 miles from Middlebury in central Vermont to Lake Sakakawea State Park in central North Dakota.
While tearing down the existing house, we constructed two bedrooms in the pole barn for a quick living space. Once settled in the pole barn, we a built a small log cabin with already felled timbers from the local woods, except for the box frame which was purchased from the local Amish. Prior to building our permanent log cabin home, this small cabin was our camp site and is now being rented to people that want to relax and enjoy the outdoors. In the middle of the woods, we created a campground to be enjoyed by hikers and on the North side of our property is a tree line between two fields that is a great small camper/tent camping spot.

Our property is 15 acres in beautiful south central Michigan, north of Jackson, and south of Lansing. It features an approximate 2 acre spring fed pond that does not have scum. It eventually flows into a creek that meanders through onsite wetlands into State of Michigan land. Half way between Chicago and Detroit is a city named Kalamazoo. Our place is near the intersection of US 131 and I-94, so whichever direction you are traveling is accessible. Whether you are heading to the beauty of "up north" or running between the big cities east and west, this is a great spot to rest and enjoy some down time. Lake Michigan is a 40 minute drive west from here and if you are a bicyclist, you can ride the Kal-Haven Trail from the trail head about 2 miles from here, all the way to the Big Lake and back (35.5 miles one way).
We have trails in the woods and open fields to look over, depending on your preference. As of this year, there is no electricity and water hookup, so tents or trailers with electric and water are your option.
We have a bell tent available for a single or a couple to stay. On that same site is room for a trailer or tents, if you want to invite your friends, and we've built a cooking shelter and a bath house that has a compost toilet and a shower with on demand hot water from solar energy.
We have a horse farm on the property and offer horse experiences (All our activities are done on the ground near or with the horses, so, no riding is offered) at an additional fee. It is expected that you will remain outside the fence from the horses while you are staying, unless you sign a release and are accompanied by the owner to interact with them. We do not allow dogs.
There are two campsites cleared in the woods, for tent camping, and more will be cleared in 2025, as time allows. There will be a bathhouse with a compost toilet and on-demand hot water nearby those campsites. If you want to stay before our build, we will offer a lower rate, but expect you to take away your own waste when you leave or clarify with us where whether there is an appropriate place on the property to dispose of it.
At some point during the fall of 2025, we are placing a restored vintage 1957 Ideal camper in a separate area of the property. It will have solar power and an indoor compost toilet, with a stove and sink. It will host a single or a couple who can sleep on a full sized mattress. Another sleeping area may be offered from converting the table, but we are not sure how comfortable it will be until we've completed the renovation.

The property host a variety of apple trees, open grass land, and a large cluster of trees surrounding a 3/4 acre pond, while being surrounded by wood lots on three sides and open fields to the west. There are two basins with a channel and a peaceful tree filled grass area between. The area can easily handle several tents, hammocks and small RVs. The area is rural farm land with a handful of houses on the short dirt road. But this property is surrounded by wood lots and open fields. Two neighbors houses are visible but separated by trees. Our house is visible from the pond and camping area.

Ceiling height it just at 6 ft meaning those taller than that need to Duck under beams. Please beware.

Lake can only be viewed from the upstairs of shack due to tall reeds or by way of walking path which is still under construction partially handmade from scrap lumber . It’s about 2/3 complete with newly built dock, sections (see pics). The path is usually partially underwater until mid May so please check if you plan to kayak you will use at your own risk. *:It’s too mucky to swim right off shore but you can Kayak out to the swimming area. Kayak use is allowed as long as waiver is signed. Closed toed/water shoes recommended . Potential for 4 guests which is tight, or more if part of your crew wanted to set up a tent.
*Fall/winter info:
Use of our guest bathroom is permitted during colder months -just ask!. Keep in mind, The only heat will be a 1500 watt heater.

This place is utterly beautiful I still can't even believe I spent several days here and it's already time for me to go. If I could spend another month here I would. The air feels so fresh the cabin was so clean and had everything you needed. It felt so nice to live in a minimalist way and to be disconnected from the big city. I hope I get to come back here soon even if it's for a day.

We had a great time staying here and enjoyed it so much that we ended up booking an extra night to extend our stay. My wife and I were really able to disconnect, settle into camp mode, and just relax.
Josh was an awesome host and stayed in communication with us the whole time, which made everything smooth and stress free.
We’ll definitely be back again and already can’t wait for the next trip!

Josh was communicative and friendly. He had a back-up site ready to accommodate for the heavy rains that week.
The site was secluded and had plenty of space. The back up site is closer to the road than the riverside site and I could hear the road when large trucks went by, which was infrequent. I think its rare to find sites that are completely out of ear shot of a highway and still conveniently located.
Location very convenient to Coldwater.
Plan ahead, poor phone service in the area.
Would book again next time I am in the area.

Earthwell is a wonderful retreat. It was very relaxing to just hang out by the fire and reat in the cabins. Everything is very clean and convenient. Also, the ginger cats being guides and companions was a true treat.

2 nights at McCormick Artisans Woods/River
Ann and Mac were awesome hosts, amazing conversations yet they gave us privacy. Wildlife is abundant on their property. We got our fishing line wet and had fun with the spring peepers. The craftsmanship of the cabin was beautiful. Cast iron wood cooking stove was great for heat and meal prep. We lived sitting out at the fire ring and listening to nature...and the occasional chicken. We will return.

What a BEAUTIFUL escape from the hustle and bustle of the crazy world we live in. Mac and Ann were lovely and gracious hosts. Seems like they’d be happy to leave you alone if you want privacy but more than willing to let you in on their slice of heaven and how they care for the land and reap the benefits in return. The craftsmanship of every structure and trail on this property is so intentional and beautiful. We saw a bald eagle upon arrival, plenty of hawks, evidence of beavers, owl pellets and a pileated woodpecker!! Definitely coming back when Ann’s garden is in full swing. Definitely a rustic site but plenty comfortable and water is provided. Truly an incredible space and one we won’t forget and hope to get back to soon!! Thanks Mac and Ann<3

We loved camping at the tiny love shack 🖤the chickens were a plus so cute the view of the lake was amazing with a sunset view felt very private and the ladder attic room was a plus can't wait to return soon
