This property was once part of an 80 acre farm. It has now grown into a mature forest with deer, turkey, squirrels, chipmunks, many types of songbirds and most recently a family of sandhill cranes. Our most recent improvement is an air conditioner in the Crow's Nest. Sheila grew up just across the road and spent many hours riding her horse and writing poetry on the property. No discharge of firearms is allowed on this property. As a retired artist, we love to entertain creative peaceful people and many think of our place as a quiet sanctuary that encourages creativity. We provide games, both outdoor and indoor, a screen house, hammock, nature trails and a new camp store with local items and snacks. There is an Amish community close by and a tour map is provided. We are also close to the largest canopy walk in the US at Whiting Forest and Dow Gardens. Only 25 minutes away. There is a small water park in the closest town with a beach. Locally there is tubing and canoeing at the Cedar River in Gladwin and kayaking at Pinconning Park on Saginaw Bay. Guests can explore many antique shops as well as Pinconna and Northwoods Outlet store. Many of our campers never leave the property but choose to relax and watch the life of the forest. We provide linens, towels, and cookware. There is a grill outside and a microwave and oven inside along with a coffee maker and mini fridge.

Located in Clare county, Harrison is surrounded by 20 lakes within 20 minutes. Harrison is also known for its large amount of state land for recreational activities all year round. We are across the street from Little Long lake and right up the road from Budd Lake public boat launches. We have deeded lake access to Little Long Lake with use of our paddle boat and kayaks. We can provide parking with a boat, trailer, etc., but will need to be arranged prior to check-in. There are several restaurants, delivery options, and a grocery store right down the road. There is also a putt putt golf, skiing and snow tubing at Snow Snake, arcade, batting cages, bowling, indoor golf, ax throwing, beaches and Wilson State Park. If you have side-by-sides, quads, jeeps, snowmobiles, or dirt bikes, there are endless options with groomed trails in the area for you to ride all day long. Our property has two cabins on property, the Harrison Hideaway cabin and Wanderer's Hideaway that can be rented together for larger groups or rented separately. We also starting a business called River’s Edge Lavender which will be a upick lavender and wild flower farm. We are on 34 acres and have a river that runs through the middle of it. We are 10 minutes from Alma and 20 minutes from Mt Pleasant. Lumberjack park is about 2 minutes away and Stearns preserve is about 5 mins away where you can walk or ride bike on a nice paved trail. We have a small garden that we plant every summer that we use to stock our farm stand. Our farm stand provides veggies (when ready), chicken and ducks eggs, handmade crafts and items from our River’s Edge Lavender business. We are in a quiet area with lots of wildlife. We have 1 spot near the house with a view of the river that can support electric hook for a smaller RV and can attach a garden hose for water if needed. No public restroom available. We can also provide some fire wood for campfires for a cost that is located on the farm stand . Along the river fires are allowed but must be contained in a fire pit. We have 3 kayaks and a canoe that can be used with prior consent. There is a park up river where you can put in and then can exit at our house which is about an hour on the river. We are new to hosting so please provide us with feedback! We are working on the campsites so suggestions are welcome to what can make it better. A porta potty will be available in the future. Weekend Trip to The Crow’s Nest Forest Camp

This was probably the most special cabin experience I have ever had! We got to the cabin after sundown, it was still very easy to find as Jeff had texted us detailed directions as soon as we began driving from home. The boardwalk that leads to the cabin was lit up in blue, waking up was both amazing and very safe. The cabin itself was so cozy and comfortable, the decor was really cool. The bed was very comfortable, the shower was great. Sheila provided a lot of great extra stuff: coffee, firewood, toiletries, dishes , linens and lots of other things. You really just need to bring food and clothing. The trail around the property was beautiful, we loved the signs. We loved the garden and dock. All in all, it was a restorative and wonderful time at the Crows Nest and we would easily come back. We want to thank Sheila and Jeff for everything they do here and their deep hospitality. The world is that much better due to their hard work :)

My partner and I went here to celebrate our 5 years together and had such an amazing and cozy time! Sheila was a fantastic host and even set up balloons and chocolate for our celebration which was so sweet! The site was easy to find and was just as described! We also really loved the short trail with positive messages! It was such a cozy stay and made the first leg of our anniversary trip so meaningful! Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a quiet and cozy getaway!

This is an amazing cabin with all the amenities a person could ever think of. It really felt like I was staying in my super cool aunts cabin who knew I needed a long break. The land was beautiful, the cabin had so many wonderful cooking options from nice stainless steel to cast iron and easy to use air fryer. Plus a good portion of spices. The beds were so comfy! I need to find out what pillow topper she uses. Was easy to clean with all the mops and scrubs, which is essential when you got doggies. Speaking of doggies, it is hard to ware out a shepherd and a black lab, they slept like logs both nights. They both have pretty good recall, so giving them the opportunity to really run in the woods, around the cleared out area nearby the cabin, and pond was fun for them. It is private, beautifully dark at night so you can see the stars so well. The nearby town of tawas was fantastic. And stop at Joe's Market on the way in on 65 and get the best cut of meat and great sweet corn. Good internet too! So you can post all the pictures to make your friends jealous. Seriously relaxing and incredibly enjoyable. Might even be back next weekend.

Weekend Trip to "Elysium Heritage Farm"

We absolutely loved our stay at the cabin. My son, daughter in law and grandbaby enjoyed hours watching the turtles and fish, walking the trails and meeting the farm animals while learning about Elysiums history. Will always remember morning coffee on the porch, baby's first campfire and playing Frisbee behind the cabin. We hope to return next year!

Weekend Trip to Riverside Retreat

Booked a night stay for a wedding at a nearby venue. The property is very cute and quaint, but spacious at the same time. There were no others staying while we were here. The river bank is full of beautiful wildflowers, but it’s pretty slow moving and mucky so bring your water shoes! There was a nice sized fire pit with wood, which we wished we could have enjoyed. The tiny house itself is nice, but could have used a good dead bug removal before we got there. The bathhouse is also well maintained and a lot nicer than I was expecting for a rustic spot. Don’t forget your TP! Overall a very peaceful experience and nice location.

Cindy and Travis were incredible hosts! From the communication to the cleanliness, we couldn’t believe this gem. We loved the porch and backyard outdoor spaces, the living spaces and bedrooms were cozy and comfortable. The outdoor amenities provided made the lake so fun. We would absolutely come back to visit and highly recommend this stay to anyone!

Weekend Trip to Stillwater Cabin

Jeff's cabin was a great place to stay. It was so peaceful and private. Everything was built from wood on the property. Jeff really went out of his way to make sure that the cabin contained everything we could possibly need for our stay. The separate building for a kitchen was great for cooking when it was rainy. Having a shower was great. We walked around the property and saw the other campsites that were available. All were spaced far enough apart to feel like you were alone. I would highly recommend staying here. We cant wait to come back!

We had a wonderful time at the Crow’s Nest! The walkway up gives a folklore vibe. The trails around the property allow you to decompress from whatever may be stressing you out. And the camping/glamping feel was perfect for our first timer. Sheila and Jeff personally accommodated to us with our needs and questions. You both were so sweet and accommodating. Your lifestyle to give back and help truly shows and I will be back to forest bathe there again in the future! Thank you again for sharing with us.

We had a beautiful time here. Amazing place to disappear to. Absolutely wonderful property with extremely helpful and responsive hosts. We loved the ability to take a little canoe trip, and went for several long walks in the woods without seeing any neighbors. Loved every minute!
