Atlantic Kayak Company is a 20-minute drive from the site, offering kayak rentals and guided expeditions. For families, Sky Zone Trampoline Park is a fun activity less than a 10-minute drive from the campsite. A Walmart is conveniently located about 10 minutes away for any supplies you may need, and local produce can be obtained on Wednesdays and Saturdays at the La Plata Farmer's Market (12 min drive) between April and November. The Road To Serenity: Our road is a quaint old country farm road made of grass and a few gravel patches here and there. It is a bit of a bumpy ride, so take it slow and easy as you make your way to our hidden getaway. There is one sharp left turn over a culvert and some dips and mild inclines, so low-sitting vehicles should definitely take it slow. The road narrows as you get closer to the site, but there are reflectors along the way to keep you on the right path. We highly recommend arriving before dark. Parking: Parking is on the grass meadow between the entrance to the meadow and the walking path to the campsite. Reflectors are in place to outline the parking area. Avoid driving beyond the parking area and down steep inclines in the meadow, as softer ground presents a risk for getting stuck. A gorilla wagon is available in the parking area to help transport your belongings to the campsite. Toilet and Shower Set-up: There is a privacy tent that contains a toilet seat over a bucket. Place a bag with absorbent materials in the bucket for your biological needs. A portable automatic shower providing hot water is also available. Pets: For the safety of your pets, ensure that they are treated for ticks prior to camping. Be sure to check for ticks before bringing pets into the tent. Noises and Sounds: This property is located in a rural community, and campers may occasionally experience common city noises such as airplanes flying overhead, distant traffic, or distant firearm shots. Great Location with multiple camping locations. The deck with the bamboo at site 3 was great, ample wood was included with the stay and we had everything we needed for an outstanding stay. Scott checked in and we chatted for a bit, really nice and welcoming. We're already planning our next trip with more people in warmer weather to enjoy the creek. 10/10

Amazing, secluded, quiet camp site along the creek. The sites were very well designed and spaced far enough apart that we couldn’t even tell we had neighbors. (3 of the 4 sites were occupied while we were there).

Scott’s campsite was amazing! It had all of the amenities we needed (campfire grate for cooking, unlimited wood, picnic table and benches), and the campsites had enough distance apart from each other. I didn’t get to meet Scott in-person but he was very communicative and accommodating for me and my dogs. I will definitely be coming back!

This was a lovely place to camp. Site 1 is closest to the road, but there is very little traffic and the sounds of the running creek cover almost all noise. Probably the best I've ever slept while camping.

Just as shown. Reviews are correct. Excellent location and private. Only critique would be that it is just off a rural highway, but truthfully there is only about one car every 5 minutes during the day, and then virtually none at night. We would definitely stay here again.

We loved the island and La Mar was an amazing host. 5 of us spent a weekend on the island. If you have no experience canoeing, be prepared. Being from NYC, we are inexperienced and it took us an hour to row the mile to the island against the tide. if you can get your own power boat to take you there, it will make life a whole lot easier. definitely a challenge, but it was amazing once we made it. The island is relaxing for a weekend. You also get to do some fishing, though we didn't have much luck in October. also - low tide is really low tide. don't plan on going out until the tide comes in a bit. I would recommend taking lots of firewood and a portable toilet. I can't say enough about how communicative and accommodating La Mar is. We're already talking about our next trip.

My niece goes camping twice a year and I hijacked this fall trip. I selected Yates’ site because of the quiet and tranquil surrounding and we were not disappointed. Tucker, Yates’ cousin, met us at check-in with the sweetest dog. We found site 3 easily and setup went smoothly. Site 3 is shady and offers views of the Patuxent River and a nice swampy area below. Loved the sounds of birds, fox…night life. I wasn’t expecting all the Daddy Long Legs and various other spiders. Thank God my niece was there to save me, lol. We brought our own wood, but there was kindling/small branches at the site that we also took advantage of. We played it forward and left the same for the next camper. I would definitely stay here again, just not at Site 3. I think Site 1 is open without the abundance of trees and prayerfully less bugs.
