When we first purchased our property, we were made aware of a young fella needing a spot to set up his yurt. He lived with us for two years before moving along. We had enjoyed having him and his yurt on our land so when he left, It left a virtual and metaphorical hole. A couple years later we had an opportunity to purchase a yurt from an outdoor adventure company and so it began. We improved upon our tenant's idea by adding a proper outhouse and outdoor shower area. The space offered us a quiet haven during hectic times and now we are ready to share that opportunity. Our yurt sits on a quiet and private nook on our 7 acre property. We are right in between Kennebunk and Biddeford so there are quite a number of areas to explore if you make us your home base. It is a lovely 6 mile ride to Goose Rocks Beach or you can spend an afternoon walking around Dock's Square in Kennebunkport. Biddeford is a rapidly rebuilding mill town that has made several high profile food and travel publications for its great dining spots. If you are visiting to get away from the city, we are less than a mile away from the Eastern Trail which connects South Portland to Kittery, ME. Bring a bike or plan a quiet walk. Please, NO pets! Thank you for reading this entire description for rules and directions on how to get to Hidden Brook. Hidden Brook is located on a small family-owned vegetable farm five minutes outside the village of Cornish, Maine. Three generations of farmers live here presently, but our family has been working this land since the mid 1700’s.  Cornish is a pretty special place to live and visit because we are about 50 minutes drive from both the city of Portland on the coast and the White Mountains to the west. There are tons of local hikes here in the foothills, two big rivers to float or paddle, dozens of swim spots, good fishing, and a lively little village with at least 7 antiques shops, local art, and some pretty darn good restaurants. Our neighborhood even hosts some of the best musicians in the world each July at The Ossippee Valley Music Festival. Yeah, we got it all going on! Come play with us or just chill at Hidden Brook. So far, we have one spot open for “glamping”, The Bus, but we will add the Wagon this fall. The Bus, an engineless 1973 Bluebird School bus is pretty pimped out. Though off the grid, cell reception is pretty good and rechargable lighting is provided. Our outdoor kitchen, on a spacious deck ( fenced in for kids ) includes a heavy duty propane stove, Yeti cooler and pots and pans. Indoors, there’s a slop-bucket sink for tooth-brushing (dishes are to be washed out on the deck ), a small woodstove to take off the chill come fall and a nice big fire pit outside. Wood is provided. Buses can get hot in summer, so we put ours in a shady little grove of ancient oaks amongst the remains of the farm’s original stonework and installed screens the full length of the bus. We built a compost-style outhouse and a beautiful outdoor shower we call “The Cold Drizzler” down in the old homestead cellar hole. Kind of a secret garden bathroom : ) Inside is a full-sized bed for one or two people and two cot-sized “75 long bunks, sleeping a total of four humans. Quality mattresses, sheets and blankets with a change of sheets and tons of pillows ought to provide a comfortable night’s sleep. Four towels and face cloths provided. Coffee and “pour-overs” on site as well as silverware, bowls and plates. All you really need is ice for the cooler and your food - or just go out to eat. Check out our site as well! Wildcampmaine.com Other things to note: Absolutely no smoking inside All shoes off before entering Quiet hours from 9:30 pm to 6:30 am ( we live in a small community and wish to respect our neighbors ) This is not a party camp, but a place to relax and listen to the birds. Please enjoy your music quietly. This is a working farm, but we will be as sensitive as possible when it comes to any loud machinery use like irrigation pumps and tractors while guests are around. Our dogs may visit, but are laid back once they have anounced your arrival. Directions to Hidden Brook and the Bus: You will be given directions to an address once you book but please make sure that you follow the signage to the bus carefully, otherwise you’ll end up at the wrong property. Drive until you see two giant, eyeballs attached to a telephone pole, and the bus will be immediately after that on your right. Thank you so much.

I feel so fortunate to revisit this magical place in Maine. Last year I stayed in the bus and this year I was able to experience the wonder that is the new wagon, although wagon hardly describes it. I felt like a pampered gypsy— connected to nature around me, and disconnect disconnected from my worries. Every detail was perfect from the sheets to the bed to the shower and the sound of the birds all around. I was able to journal, hike, eat a delicious meal and shop in Cornish, get a deep sleep and return to Portland all in an overnight. Just wish I had more time. If you want to experience Maine – – real Maine — then take advantage of this remarkable host and spot. I really can’t recommend it enough.

I absolutely loved this campsite! The cabin was cute and cozy, and the nearby brook was so pleasant to listen to and watch flow. I even took a dip in it to clean up a bit! The campsite itself is in the trees and shaded so the 85 degree days felt more like 75 degree days at the camp, which was much better for my dog who overheats. Everything was clean. Plenty of drinking water was provided. The toilet nearby was great. I loved the swing. The king size air mattress provided was perfect for me and my dog to cuddle up at night. April was a very thoughtful host and made sure I settled in okay and asked if I needed anything. 10/10 would recommend! I hope to come back soon!

Host was great. Location is close to many hiking trails, rivers and lakes. Wagon is private and easy to get to. The wagon it self is super cool! Like a gypsy wagon and very cozy. I highly recommend it!!

Such a beautiful and quiet little spot to get away! Easy access to both Ogunquit and Wells. Everything was so clean and clear instructions on how to use everything the camper had to offer. Would recommend!!

1 night at Hidden Brook At Merrifield Farm

This place is a hidden gem! Quiet and tucked into the woods but easy to drive up to. Once inside you can see how much love was put into making this place - nothing is cookie cutter, everything is custom made to make this space feel Ike your own little hideaway. The outdoor kitchen is right out the door on the covered porch - complete with Yeti cooler and gas for the grill- I cooked up fresh asparagus and steak, made myself a little fire outside and had the most amazing meal. At night the whole place is warmly lit with twinkle lights and cozy bed. Even the compost toilet is brand new, spotless and set back in its own little spot. (No odor at all!). Shower area out back is also clean and new but I didn’t get the opportunity to try it out. This place is perfect for a little romantic get away or a solo retreat to get some writing done. Huge value for the price - just the outdoor fire pit and spot is worth it but instead of having to pitch a tent you get your own little cozy wagon to sleep in.

Weekend Trip to BrandiLee Woods at the Woolley farm

My friends and I had a lovely, peaceful weekend staying at Sandi and Brandon’s property! The tent was roomy and equipped with everything we could have needed. We had some chilly and wet weather, but we stayed dry and cozy in the tent with the wood stove going. We loved watching the horses graze in the pasture in the evening and getting a tour of the barn. We also enjoyed walking the trails on the property. They were very welcoming hosts, but we also had a lot of privacy, and we would not hesitate to visit again!

The tent view was excellent for the lake and sturdy in the rain! We were there when there weren't any campers so it was very quiet. The space was clean and there was some nice gear to make it homey. Would stay again!

This was an awesome and very private Hipcamp! Sarah was a great host and responded to all of our questions very promptly. This was the perfect glamping experience - all of the things provided to make it accessible while still being rustic and remote. Beautiful views too!

Weekend Trip to Tuttles Homestead

We had such an amazing weekend at Mark and Trish's cabin. They we such great hosts and the cabin and site were fantastic. They truly seem to care about managing the property. Mark told us that they built the cabin themselves from materials primarily sourced from their land. Mark took time to show us around and said we were free to explore the land and any of their buildings. There were also plenty of wildlife sightings. We saw deer and there were so many birds. It was incredibly peaceful. There are lots of hiking and swimming spots nearby. And although we did not use it, there is a bathroom with a shower. On our way out, Mark gave our kids a couple of toys that he makes. Fucking kick ass time and we definitely plan on returning.
