We have four raised platforms, accessible by car, each with a canvas-covered A-frame
Each platform is nested in their own private setting around the edges of our 12-acre organic blueberry barren. All four platforms are fully screened-in, with stylish canvas-covered timberframes and circular red doors. These canvas tents are relatively bug-proof and waterproof; you do not need to bring a tent! You do need to bring your own bedding. ***If you are particularly sensitive to bugs, you may want to bring your own tent (to put inside our tent) or a mosquito net. This is the Northeast during the summertime, we cannot ensure there will be no bugs.
Blueberry Land is part of Smithereen Farm, but is located around the corner from our Home Farm on Youngs Cove Road, near Reversing Falls.
This is an off grid, rustic site with only a port-a-potty. If you need to use any other amenities, you are welcome to use the WIFI, fill your water bottles, charge your electric vehicle and buy supplies at the Smithereen Farmstore (12 Little Falls Road, Pembroke). We sell cold drinks, beer and wine, frozen fish, meat, our own fruit popsicles, also organic veggies, honey, products from many local and Maine farms, camping supplies, ready to eat food, snacks, chocolates and even fresh baked cookies. Park at the store, and then jump into the Pennamaquan River (two dams, a rope swing) to cool off after exploring the town.
Note: there is no potable water at the site, you will need to bring a vessel and fill up in town.
There are beautiful walking, biking and canoeing opportunities in every direction—check out Cobscook Shores, Downeast Coastal Conservancy trails by Reversing Falls, Maine Coast Heritage trails on the Bold Coast and at Sipps Bay, Nature Conservancy trail at Hersey Point, Shackford head at Eastport, and of course much more on Campobello.
Blueberry bushes are low, native, fruit-growing, covered in flowers in spring and then berries in summer, turning bright bright red in the fall when kissed by frost. Our blueberries are certified organic by MOFGA and surrounded by birch, fir, spruce and flowering perennial beds to improve insect habitat. Please DO NOT DRIVE/ tread ON THE BERRIES, they are food that we harvest and sell!
Park in the parking lot, three sites are immediately visible, the fourth site is a further drive down the road, past the port-o-potty, in the back field, to the left. Low hung vehicles beware! If in doubt park in the parking lot.

We really recommend you approach Washington County as an opportunity to PICNIC! The "dining out" options are limited. Bring a pocketknife, a frying pan, a big cooler for butter and milk with ice packs so you can pick up local crabmeat (Betty's Crabmeat) and mayo and salads (Smithereen Farmstore) and eggs from ends of driveways, bring a cutting board—a big water jug, a camp stove/kettle, more warm socks than you think you need... and a sense of adventure! We have a EAT DOWNEAST digital map, guidebook and brochure at the Farmstore you can pick up a copy or download from our website. We have a farm, DO NOT have Cell phones. Only near computer or LAND LINE phone, a few times a day. If you need to contact us, there may be response delay.
We also drive through Searenity guest area several times a day, and if you need anything you can always ask in person.

Your host, Tyler, is a homesteading musician, currently developing a biodynamic community farm and garden, with an off-grid house still in construction. Please be aware that you will be entering a *working farm*, full of life! Your stay with us is bound to be social and lively at times. There are places on the land that offer privacy, yet overall it is a cozy and intimate setting. We greatly welcome feedback for being the best homesteader-hosts we can be.
- We have a hand-pump on our well that you can use for your fresh water supply 💦 There is no shower or bath option at this time (other than a fresh dip in the bay!)
- Our state-of-the-primitive-art out house is available for your use 🌙 tucked into the woods along the path to the overlook and bay beach.
If you plan to make a fire(which is 100% welcome!) please bring wood and kindling with you 🔥
- The walk down to the flat rock beach is erosion-prone. Please be aware of your steps and tread lightly to help us keep the natural moss and ground cover in tact! 🌱

Mostly wooded with small clearings, this land is a comfortable camping environment. There is a common fire pit in view of the ocean, glinting through the trees. Wild animals, like deer and foxes, and many bird species abound, filling the land with life and song. We’re so grateful to live on this piece of paradise, and wish to share the beauty and magic of the land with you!
On the bold coast of Downeast Maine, we offer 2 tent sites. The Maple Grove Tent Site is located in a wooded, grassy area immediately adjacent to the driveway. The Birch Point Ocean Lookout is located at the water's edge, accessed via trail beginning at the Maple Grove, about a 2 minute walk from the driveway. The outhouse is located along this trail, on the way from the Maple Grove to the Ocean Lookout. Both options require a short walk from parking, which is currently on the roadside (new driveway work coming soon). The flat ledge beach looks out at a tidal bay fed by the Machias River.
These are very refreshing (chilly!) and strong tidal waters. There are also beautiful (warmer) lakes and many hiking trails nearby, notably the Cutler Bold Coast Trail with epic seaside cliffs. Expect the area to be relatively buggy in summer months, and prepare to do head-to-toe tick checks!
We’re about a 10 minute drive from the town of Machias where you can fill up on supply and provisioning needs. We're about 30 minutes from Lubec and 50 minutes from Eastport, two lovely seaside towns with art galleries, cafés, restaurants, and abundant coastal view points. Also Explore the surrounding forest of the property, with nearly 3 private acres of natural land, there is lots to see.
Lobster fishing takes place in the deep water right in front of the property. Watch the boats out for the days catch.
You can enjoy the catch too ! There are several lobster piers in town, to purchase lobsters, crabs and other seafood right off the boat. A list of some suggestions will be available.

If the lunar cycle is right, the Moon Man will will greet you with awe inspiring colors, and brightness, that you will never forget !
Bald eagles nest in the Forest Surrounding the house, other seabirds, and wildlife are commonplace. There is forest all around the property.
Seals and seabirds relax and forage in the water, and on the rocks.
Groups of seals and birds will chase schools of pogies in the water, as they come near shore in season, and it is a sight to see.
Also Explore the surrounding forest of the property, with nearly 3 private acres of natural land, there is lots to see.
Lobster fishing takes place in the deep water right in front of the property. Watch the boats out for the days catch.
You can enjoy the catch too ! There are several lobster piers in town, to purchase lobsters, crabs and other seafood right off the boat. A list of some suggestions will be available.
There is a large outdoor propane boiler available, to use for your seafood feast, at the cottage.

We had a super stay at this site. I just stayed one night but would have been happy to stay longer to explore around the rocks by the water and just enjoy the incredible view from the site.
We really had no issues. There is a short walk from the site to the parking area, which Tyler showed us. It’s a path through the woods, or up past Tyler’s house to get between the car and the site. This site feels private but is near the car.
There’s a nicely stocked compost toilet near the site and a very nice water pump which is easy to use for drinking water.
While I loved the site with the views of the water, I also would stay at the other site if I needed a place in the area and the water view site was booked.

Great, easy to access spot.
The farm store was lovely and a great landing pad and place to return to for treats, treasures, literature and connection. The guide was thoughtful and well planned out. We used it to source food and adventures.
We chose to set up our own tent inside the triangle tents just because we are used to it and it fit our sleep system well but I think we’d have been comfortable without it.
The land itself had so many birds that we just sat outside with binoculars for hours. We also heard a porcupine mating call for the first time. Just a nice warm place to be.
100% recommend and would definitely return in the future.

Such a magical beauty of spot! We loved waking up to fresh wild blueberry picking with our toddler. Magical fields, wild flowers and the farm is incredible and the surroundings are great to explore. Swimming hole, pond and Eastport. We are sad to leave and stayed for a week :)

My husband, dog, and I loved camping at Blueberry Land! The land was beautiful, and the big, roomy tent platform felt spacious and welcome after we had come from camping in our little two-person tent. We could easily fit all of our gear, and it was a treat to be able to stand up inside (especially for my husband who is very tall!), stay cool and dry, and have a comfy pad to sleep on. What a delight to be able to wake up and pick blueberries to go with our breakfast, and be surrounded by so many different birds and trees- what a sweet place. We enjoyed the fire pit, the breeze from the water, and being able to run down the road to the Reversing Falls and drive up the road to the Smithereen Farm Store. Thank you!

Beautiful fields of blueberries, many species of birds, comfortable tents with fire rings and wood provided, plus a very clean port-a-potty made this a great place to stay. We found endless places to explore and will definitely be back as we need more time to discover all the region has to offer. Definitely stop by the Smithereen Farm store for veggies, baked goods, a free water jug fill-up, and an educational center.

We loved the spot and would definitely go there again! Fresh wild blueberries for our breakfast granola and heard loons, coyotes and x2 types of owls at night! It was very peaceful, lots of space from other campers, easy access to the water, and nice having a bug free tent to sleep in. Great access to lots of interesting places and appreciated the comprehensive guide book they provided. Thank you for a fabulous time!

This was the perfect trip!! It is sometimes hard to find a place that allows 3 dogs (yes we are crazy and have 3 Goldens) so we were so happy to find this location. On top of that, the views from our site were absolutely amazing. Tyler was very communicative and helpful prior to arrival, providing very detailed instructions to us on where the site is located on the property. The outhouse was so quaint, well equipped, and clean. It is exactly what you would expect of a cute little off the grid outhouse. Tyler was very friendly and even offered to send us home with fresh kale from his garden! It was a very private and remote spot (even with one other occupied camp site and Tyler’s house around the corner we felt it was nice and secluded and exactly what we wanted). I had fun climbing down to the rocky beach during low tide to check out some small tide pools. The rocks will be very slippery when wet and Tyler thoughtfully has a sign up about this to give everybody a heads up. We hope to be back one day!
