Spacious Skies Balsam Woods is a hidden paradise of a campground located right in the heart of Maine, just a half hour south of Moosehead Lake, the largest lake in Maine, and 60 miles as the crow flies from the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail, Mt. Katahdin, in Baxter State Park. We offer both wooded and open sites that can accommodate most rigs. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, water, 30 or 50-amp electrical service, and most offer sewer. Groups and tent campers are welcome. Balsam Woods campground is less than a minute’s drive from Piper Pond, a 2-mile-long lake with public boat launch and beach access. Onsite, we have a camp store and snack bar stocked with necessities, treats, and goodies for the whole family. There is no shortage of fun activities with our heated pool, classic rec hall, playground, a new jumping pillow, and gem mining! We have three cozy rustic cabins as well as three deluxe cabins for those wanting to experience the beauty of the great outdoors but who may not be ready for the tenter or RV life!

We purchased this land a few years ago when our neighbors decided to sell. It abuts our property They used it as a place for their family to gather and camp on during Maine wonderful summer season. It is a beautiful, quiet spot with a great view and a small pond. Hipcamp lets us share this spot and helps pay our property taxes.We are located in the western mountains of Maine in a summer community on Porter Lake. There is a beautiful view of New Vineyard mountain from our 3 acre field. We have 2 trailer sites with power and water (non potable) and an out house. The field has several fire pits and soft grassy spaces for pitching tents. The camping area is fairly private from our neighbors along the road. The site has a small private pond surrounded by trees you can sit and relax near. You can (walk/bike/drive) the 1/4 mile down the dirt road to the public beach. The beach has a public dock, boat ramp, swim float, picnic tables and grills. Paddle out to the island and try the rope swing with one of our kayaks or canoes. Be sure to check out the bald eagles that live in the white pine tree just a little farther down the island. You will hear the loons during your stay and possibly see a mother with her babies on her back. There are also ducks and ducklings and geese with gosling paddling about the lake. The state stocks the lake with trout, splake, and salmon if you like to fish. There is plenty to do right here!

CENTRAL MAINE (CORINTH) - Camp sites are located in a large, quiet, rural backyard with direct access to 90 acres of wooded, private, non-motorized trails, including a shallow stream. Several camper/rv sites are available near the gazebo, some flatter than others. Two of our sites are even appropriate for horse trailers... bring your own portable electric fence, highline your horses, or use our grass paddock! In Corinth, the paved roads are considered ATV trails as long as you're heading to a trail (closest trail is less than 4 miles away). We are 30 minutes from the Interstate, 30 minutes from the Waterfront Concerts venue and Cross Insurance Center, and less than 1-2 hours from a ton of great outdoor attractions, like the Moosehead Lake Region, Baxter State Park, Fort Knox / Penobscot Observatory, and tons more. We can offer 15a electric at Sites 1 and 4, and we have a small dumpster, one bag of trash per stay is allowed. There is direct access to our private wooded trail system (non-motorized-use-only). Camp site property is attached to a small hobby farm with 2 horses and a flock of chickens. We sell beautiful blue/green/brown farm-fresh eggs from our free range chickens ($5/dozen). Such a wonderful campground! We loved the cabin and it had everything we needed. Bathrooms were clean and the store and rec room were there with food supplies, games. Activities and such. The kids loved the jumping pillow and playground. We will definitely be back.

Great spot for a weekend! Tom and JP were extremely friendly and helpful. The lake is perfect and our kids spent a whole day swimming, jumping off the floating dock and playing the boats that Tom provided.

It was a great weekend at Tom’s. He has some construction going on for a new bath house so he moved us away from the noise and upgraded us to have electrical. His Handy man Jp was very helpful and a pleasure to chat with. This place is a campground in progress but that didn’t stop us from having a great time. Beanies beach just down the road was beautiful and refreshing. Plan on going back again!! Can’t wait to see all the new improvements. Thanks Tom and Jp for a pleasant experience.

Nice spot! Private if nobody is at the site across from you but not very private with neighbors. The fire pit was awesome Tom's suggestions for where to get wood nearby were perfect. I felt safe there and it was pretty quiet. Definitely use the second entrance for the lower field sites ( just a little further past the main one). The fireflies after dark were magical! There was soooo many.

Screened in gazebo where I enjoyed some reading time.

Great location to rest and enjoy nature. I would definitely stay at this Hipcamp location again. Sharon and John were both very welcoming. My stay was over the Fourth of July holiday. They included me in their family activities and made me feel right at home. I also enjoyed petting Sharon’s horses.

Unfortunately, the heater wasn’t working and we got super cold at night as we didn’t expect the drastic temperature drop. Overall - nice place with super clean bath house and very pleasant staff! Exactly what the doctor ordered! The field was muddy (tis the season) but Tom was in communication and warned us about the conditions a few days before the trip, so we were able to prepare. There wasn’t any firewood for purchase at the site but we were able to make do. Instructions for how to reach the site were clear and the site was easy to get to, though the road is muddy so two-wheel drivers proceed with caution. Overall a good trip and was a great way to test out some new backpacking gear that we had. Also, the lake is a short walk away and gorgeous! Would love to return in the summer when we can swim.

Had a nice 3 day stay here at the Upper Nook at Hole In The Wall. Was only one other camper on site, and given it's fairly remote location, it was extremely quiet and peaceful! The weather wasn't so cooperative, but we enjoyed the stay anyways. My only criticism is that the site was supposed to have water available...it was not. Due to the cold weather, Tom had pulled the pump. Although we completely understand the necessity, an advance notice should have been given so we could have equipped ourselves better for a "no water" situation!
