Dog-friendly camping in Louisiana

92% (681 reviews)

It's not a true family vacation if the four-legged family members have to be left behind. Fortunately, Louisiana offers plenty of options for the whole crew, ensuring that your furry friends can enjoy the Pelican State's diverse natural wonders as much as you. Snuggle up together in a cabin rental on the shore of Lake Pontchartrain in Fontainebleau State Park outside New Orleans; sit around the campfire at an RV park; hit the trails together in Tickfaw State Park; or watch your best friend doggy paddle in one of the state's many scenic waterways. But choose your dates wisely: If your pooch is particularly furry, avoid overheating by swapping the steamy Louisiana summers (when temperatures are typically in the low 90s) for the mild temperatures of late fall to early spring.

The historic French built antebellum plantation home and gardens was built circa 1793-1820. The home and gardens is located on the Ouachita River. I built a culinary herb farm and nursery on the plantation grounds, in which I was named after by my family. My farm is called Louisiana Herbs LLC. Their are plenty of great sites to pitch a tent and camp in the plantation gardens or on the river bank. Learn more about this land:Pitch your tent on your choice area next to the muddy Ouachita River on the grounds of an historic french antebellum home plantation in northeast Louisiana. We can wine and dine you at the plantation dinner table with home cooked Louisiana cuisine (optional for an extra cost) & get you liquored up with mint juleps, homemade absinthe, mix drinks, etc. anywhere on the plantation grounds is acceptable to pitch a tent and make a campfire. we can provide wood, & possible minimal electricity to your camp area for now. there is access to water at the greenhouse area, as well as electricity. the greenhouse is a culinary herb farm and nursery, no smoking tobacco near the nursery and greenhouse area.
