We're a non profit community garden in the Old Algiers neighborhood of New Orleans on the West Bank of the Mississippi River, a 15 minute drive or ferry ride to the French Quarter. We use the money from these bookings to fund the community food access work that we do. While you're here you can enjoy our peaceful and spacious garden property, and we encourage you to get to know some of the fantastic neighbors who use our community fridge and herb garden. Take the scenic Mississippi River Levee Path 1 mile to get to the Algiers Ferry dock which departs every 30 minutes and drops you off at the foot of Canal Street in the heart of New Orleans. If you have a car you can cross the bridge and get to most of the city in 15 minutes. You can also explore Algiers Point with its many restaurants, bars, local art and historic buildings. The levee trail is a block away, where you can jog, bike, or just watch the boats go by. The water level in the Basin rose by several feet, permanently flooding many areas, and people who had made their homes there eventually moved to communities on the dry, western side of the levee--Henderson, Catahoula, Bayou Benoit and beyond--leaving no trace of the old settlements behind. Only one community remained. Perched on a ridge along the banks of the Atchafalaya River, Butte La rose is the only community in St. Martin Parish that is still located between the Basin levees. The community is nestled against one of the more winding meanderings of the Atchafalaya River, and residents remain closely tied to the river and other nearby waterways--fishing, crawfishing, frogging and hunting, enjoying bayou-side crawfish boils and pleasure boating. I loved my stay at Kat’s little oasis in such a prime location, she went above and beyond during my stay. I am grateful for the time we got to chat, I found her easy to talk to, appreciated her knowledge on the area, local insight and community mindset. Being at the 8 month mark of living in a camper, I can’t describe how incredible it was to have access to all the amenities! Not to mention, she has a dog- what more could you ask for? This was a mildly difficult space to get into as a truck and camper, granted- it was dark and I was by myself- but absolutely doable, and worth it.

Weekend Trip to Iberia Market Garden

We loved staying at Phanats garden, it is a beautiful respite from a largely industrial area. It was so lovely to check out the gardens and so many plants and beautiful brick buildings. I would say this hipcamp makes more sense if u have an rv or trailer, tent camping was okay but it did rain and the grounds flooded (which Phanat warned us would happen so no fault to them). We felt very safe and would stay again albiet maybe during a dryer season.

Wow this wonderful place is not only charming but has so much to do around it. Ginny & Scotty are the most wonderful hosts. Ginny has all information for you when you arrive about restaurants, local pubs, 100 yr old store that was a gem. They have a very level spot with a picnic table, Tiki torches and a very nice porch to sit and enjoy getting to know each other. We cant wait to come back.

We stayed in the RV spot and had a nice time here! We were only here for an evening and left early the next morning, but we felt safe with the gate during the night and the bathroom was convenient and clean! Garden was nice too. Thanks for a good place to stay!

The RV space was premo for my vehicle & gear; there was ample space to pitch a tent and beat the Nola heat. Mark communicated transparently about the space and made accessibility easy. The semi-outdoor bathroom/shower was a nice touch - plenty of hot water with the on demand water heater. Mark & co. were super friendly and gave a lot of insights into the little fabulous cultural tidbits that Nola is full of. Sunday brunch was so much fun! Pelican gardens are such a beautiful forest of food and tropical plants 🌿 this was exactly the greenspace and vibe that I was seeking for camping, all while being a 20 minute walk to the Algiers ferry and close to the French Quarter & downtown. Riding the ferry daily and using the RTA Jazzy pass was a total breeze 🏖

Awesome site! Very nice and easy access right off the road. We arrived late at night and were able to drive right in and hookup since the host had provided extension connections for all services. Very quiet location and very well maintained. Hosts were very kind and provided us with printed local information for the area as well as a small gift. Would definitely visit again the next time we are in the area!

Very peaceful and conveniently close to a lot of the attractions. Already looking forward to staying there again! Had 30 amp electricity and water for our camper. Our camper measures roughly 22ft long by 9ft tall on the edges by 7ft wide for reference.

We booked this place as we wanted to be close to New Orleans but not pay New Orleans prices! This place is a hidden GEM! It's no resort but has full hookups and is located in a small fishing "village" just 28 miles east of New Orleans. Bradley was a gracious and thoughtful host and offered to move us to a bigger and more private spot (site 12) once we arrived. Unfortunately, we did not have time to take advantage of his fishing charters as he also offers fishing excursions from his boats located just across the street! We will back back!

Located about 15 minutes from downtown Natchitoches on a quiet street that parallels the bayou Bourbeaux. Giant ancient oaks tower over the property. There are old pecan trees and lots and lots of flat green grass. You can put your tent or rv/trailer/camper/car/boat/atv basically anywhere you’d like. There’s a central fire pit in the grassy area and a propane one on the porch. We have hammocks and giant connect 4, jenga, tic tac toe and cornhole. There’s also an unheated seasonal above ground pool you can use with a waiver. Tents: There is no outhouse but for an extra charge we can provide a porta potty and potty tent as well as a water pump for water. Breakfast is included in the price. RVs: we prefer you be self contained but if you need electric you can park on our driveway and use the outlet on the side of the house. We can fill you up with water from the hose if needed. Breakfast is included at the bed and breakfast! Lodging: this is also a full service bed and breakfast. We are the PERFECT spot to host family reunions.
