We cannot accept 5th wheels (due to height) because of some lower hanging tree branches along the driveway. WE DO NOT ACCEPT LONG TERM STAYS! This land has previously been a tobacco farm, a hay farm, and is now home to a few beef cattle. We have blazed trails through the woods for hiking, created campsites with fire rings, farmed hay, and grown various vegetables for self-consumption. I have two properties which offer two different kinds of camping, which I have tried to itemize separately in the Hipcamp listings. The pictures were hard to sort out.RV's and Campers will park on the upper level at the Panama Street address which has water and electricity. You cannot actually see the Ohio River from the parking lot, but it is a short walk. Any pictures of water were taken from the tent camping site. If you are in a large vehicle, but are looking to spend a lot of time by the river,, you can hope that the site is available for use, which usually it is, (somehow I rarely book both places at once), or you can book both sites. Tent campers set up their tents right beside the river. There is a very simple house with a bathroom, cold running water, electricity, and also provides shelter in bad weather. It's an unusual set up, as perhaps Hipcamper spots often are. On one hand I feel like I am in the middle of nowhere when I am on these (small, very not fancy) properties by the river. On the other, there are planes, trains, barges and pleasure boats, and motorcycles passing by at times. California is just a few minutes off I-275 from the Kellogg exit, and a 15 minute drive from Cincinnati. It is the eastern-most neighborhood with a quaint village feel. Safe, flat, scenic and walkable, California offers several dining experiences, one a brewery, and quite a variety of recreational experiences. Riverbed Music Center, in season, is a mile away, walking distance, as is Belterra, the race track/casino. The bike trail is a few blocks away and connects to all the other area bike trails including the Loveland Bike Trail along the "Wild and Scenic" Little Miami River. A local nature preserve, California Woods, offers hiking and nature programs, and there is even the California Golf Course. A park with large, grassy open spaces and small playground is a few blocks away. Bring your game of horse shoes, corn hole, a frisbee to throw, your skateboard, golf cart, or some bikes just to cruise around and take in the scenery. The Little Miami River flows past Armleder Park a few miles away, which has a gravel river beach, a dog park, walking and biking trails and connects to the 5 mile loop around Lunken Airport. There is a lot to do in Cincinnati.

Originally built as Lock and Dam 38 in 1926 it is now a multi family apartment property with a large field and plenty of room to camp. Currently there are two sites and a outside community area. Each have a picnic table and fire ring. You can pull your car right up to your site. Bring your canoe or kayak as we have access to put your boat in right on the property. Or fish from the river bank. There is access to the indoor common area where you will find a bathroom with shower and a place to relax or get in from the weather. There are two coin operated laundry rooms and a soda machine onsite as well. This historic location is just 8 minutes to Rabbit Hash, 18 minutes to Big Bone Lick State Park, and 22 minutes to the Creation Museum. Either myself or one of my staff are onsite everyday if you have any questions or concerns.

7 nights at Cedar Fire farm: Kamp kessa

We used this spot as a home base for our yearly hunting trip. It was perfect for what we needed. Everyone on the farm was friendly and welcoming! You’ll get to know the horses and cats as they wander around the farm and sometimes come up to you to say hello. The cabin was a great common area and place to wind down after a long day of being out in the woods.

Weekend Trip to Handyland

The site was open with a beautiful view and felt very private. It was well taken care of with a nice electric hook up, bench, fire ring, and picnic bench. There was cut firewood ready. My Subaru Forester made it easily down the path. We had both a spot for shade and sun and we saw a beautiful sunrise/sunset. The stars were incredible. It was really quiet and peaceful with the exception of a barking neighbor dog (obviously not the fault of Handyland). There is a little pond and a gorgeous creek. It’s a 10 min walk maybe, but I was walking with a toddler. I brought a fishing pole and caught some creek chubs. The place is truly lovely. Josh was quick to reply and unobtrusive. My dog was able to run off leash the whole time. At the entrance there is bottled water for sale at $1 each. There’s well water I think but I couldn’t figure it out. I might have missed some directions there. There is also a microwave and little cook top and fridge. I believe that’s available to all the campers. We didn’t end up using it. There’s a little checkboard and table and it’s a cozy little spot if you want to interact with others at all. I’d suggest making it clear that you need your own water unless you want to buy. That’s probably my only recommendation and they may have been my fault. Otherwise, definitely going to be back. No tick or mosquito issues either. Thanks again Josh!
