2 nights at Hidden Timbers Homestead

We loved this property! It was convenient, easy to find, spacious, and extremely well-kept! The family there was super friendly and helpful. The amenities are superior to most places I have camped. Some of the highlights were the fire pits, hammocks, and bath and shower (with HOT water!) We also got a nice list of recommended things to do and places to go from the hosts. 10/10

1 night at Morning View Farms

Has a lovely time here. I was confused with the directions, but Carrie helped over the phone. Really pretty property, super quiet, no other campers. The cows were cute and curious, the horses stayed away. There’s electric and good spring water in a seated garden thing close to the house. There’s plenty of nice secluded land for dispersed camping, but you need a truck with clearance to get down there. I didn’t wanna get my car stuck, so I stayed close to the house. The shower and bathroom situation is inside their house, which they warmly welcomed me into when I needed.

Great place to stay! Peaceful area with a stream access. Loved getting the chance to take time to enjoy nature and relax. My pup loved the area and enjoyed a good swim! Carrie and company were very nice and flexible. Only note: two friendly dogs came to greet us while initially pulling up to the slab. Normally I would have no care in the world about this since they were both friendly and happy pups. But they did jump on our truck and left scratches. So just be prepared to jump out and halt the dogs from scratching your car. Otherwise, great place!

Was a beautiful farm setting close to Mammoth Caverns National Park Park. Host was very accommodating and friendly. Horses n chickens. Enjoy our stay very much. Awesome sunset n stars, unless there are clouds. Loved the country air.

Kristen and her husband were wonderful hosts! They were very accommodating and friendly during our short stay. Theor property is so serene, we lived seeing all their farm animals roaming around. Our campsite was a good size, with its own firering, water spigot, and picnic table. Bathrooms were very clean and we really appreciated the hot water after spending 3 days backpacking! We will definitely stay here again should we find ourselves near Mammoth. Thank you for your hospitality!

Weekend Trip to The Slab (by the Barren)

My husband, our 2 Shih Tzu’s, and I came here for a relaxing weekend and it did not disappoint!! Carrie and the crew were very nice and helpful. They have two dogs that are friendly too!!! There is water slides, dirt bike/ four wheel trails and plenty of camping areas. The water is amazing and clear!! We will definitely be back soon! We highly recommend this camping spot ❤️

Weekend Trip to The Slab (by the Barren)

I’ve been to the Slab a few times for some mud therapy on my ATV, took my 4 year old Tubing down the river. This weekend I decided to test the waters on an overnight tent trip with my son and family. We couldn’t have been happier with the experience and the beauty of the property. The lighting bugs after sunset was sooo beautiful we were able to get some amazing videos of it. The owners are very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. We will definitely be back and telling all our friends. They have just gone through, marked and groomed their ATV trails. I was very impressed and can’t wait for my next alone ride when I can really let loose!

Weekend Trip to Noble Pine Campground

This site was pretty nice. It was a lot closer to the drive than I expected but that wasn’t an issue when I was there. They have a ton of stuff there like shampoo, body wash, firewood, etc which is super convenient and helpful. The farm animals are right there as well which was cool to be able to walk up to them and if any horses are in the stalls you can get really close. I didn’t know before booking that there is an ATV park down the road which looked like a lot of fun if I had planned for, it so keep that in mind. The bathrooms and showers were clean as was the property.

I stayed here for my bachelorette trip and it was so much fun! Not only was Hazel such a fun and simple stay, but the property was awesome too. I especially loved the dogs and cat (+kittens) and the other fun surprises that came with our stay. Lauren and Jeremy are GREAT hosts. We felt right at home and we all said we wanted to come back and/or live on the homestead!

Weekend Trip to Cedar Ridge Cabin

The Cedar Ridge Cabin was impeccably clean and had the coolest off-grid gadgets! I maintained a similar cabin for several years and know how much work goes into such a spot. The craftsmanship and attention to detail at this cabin was inspiring to say the least! My son and I enjoyed the adventure hike down to the river and watching the nighttime critters in the field. Thank you for opening up this lovely spot to guests!

We arrived in the rain after visiting Mammoth Caves. Punched in our gate code a little nervous about finding our spot, but 2d greeted us as we pulled in and upgraded us to a glamping building for free since he had one open. Still put up the tent but was able to wait out the rain in shelter. Beautiful spot right off the river. Provided firewood and even some kabob sticks to cook our hot dogs with. Thanks again, 2d!

I love every experience at Barren River Magic. This is my second time staying in the Tin Bin and it's a lovely, secluded spot still close to all the places you want to roam on site. 2D is a consummate host and the spaces are always interesting and comfortable. The land, however, is the real draw. Just being on site, in the woods and water, the fireflies at night, the stars, sitting by the firepit and just being...it is, in fact, Magic.

Absolutely highly recommend. The owner is amazing, welcoming, understanding, and so creative. I loved that my dogs could be off leash and the park was fantastic for my 8, 5, and 4 yo. They loved having tons of places to explore. The creek was also a huge hit. 10/10 would recommend.

The Cottage at Creekdance will be a unique experience. While I am only two miles from the Cumberland Parkway, when you arrive, you will be amazed at the privacy. You will feel like you are miles away from civilization. It is the perfect spot for meditating and rejuvenating. Come visit! Everyone is welcome! The space Creekdance is located on 20 acres of prime Kentucky vegetation in the hills of Kentucky. Dry Fork Creek runs adjacent to the entire property. While it is not deep enough to kayak, it is certainly fun to dip your toes in and walk through the ever-flowing water. Several walking paths and bird boxes can be found throughout the property. It is a great place to write, paint, read, do yoga or just rejuvenate and "get right" with nature. Get the best sleep of your life on a Nectar mattress with the sounds of the creek drifting through the window. NEW this year - 125-yard golf driving range available. Golf balls provided. Bring your clubs! Guest access Guests have a private cabin all to themselves. They may feel free to wander around the property, venture onto the walking paths, walk in the creek, etc. The only space that is off limits is my cabin down the creek. Of course, if there is some kind of emergency, feel free to come find me. Other things to note While pets are allowed, there will be a $25 charge per day/per pet, paid to hosts upon arrival. I have a very friendly dog of my own on the property who free-roams. Also, if guests leave their pets in the cabin while they are gone, the pets must be crated. Inside the cabin, the bathroom is equipped with an Incinolet toilet. I find that it is quite efficient if used properly. Instructions will be given upon arrival and are included on the wall in the bathroom. We can only accommodate TWO guests at a time in the cabin due to the Incinolet's capability.

Now that all of that is out of the way... Let me introduce you to our little hidden gem in scenic Monroe county Kentucky. The Slab by the Barren campground is an outdoor recreation area like no other!!! We are the perfect place for all of your family fun in the sun!!! We have 75 very large shaded primitive sites spread out all over our 500 acre farm with nice gravel roads to most of the campsites. We do NOT have any hookups but can accommodate RV's on most sites and you are welcome to run a quiet generator. ( We will be setting up at least 3 sites this winter with hook ups for Rvs. Please follow us here or on facebook for updates on those sites) Sites 1 - 40 are located on the banks of Salt Lick creek and Barren River with direct water access. The gravel bars are open for all campers to enjoy. Camping areas A, B, and C are spread out across different sections of the farm. Even though they aren't directly on the water you are still welcome to go down to the creek at any site and swim and fish and just enjoy the water. Is our converted milk barn where Kent and his mother Linda used to milk cows. The old milk parlor where they actually milked the cows has been converted into 4 separate shower houses that are open 24/7. The Holding barn is currently undergoing some major changes this winter. It was such a large room that we have decided, in order to maximize its space, to split the barn in half and make 2 separate areas out of it. The front half by the showers will remain the kids and family play area, it will still have the pool and air hockey tables, family friendly games, tables and chairs. We will be adding more games to this area this winter and adding some exciting outdoor activities for the whole family for this summer. The other half of the barn is currently becoming the Jenkins Joint at The Slab. The Joint will be our full service bar where those 21 and older can enjoy a cold beverage, a game of pool, live music, karaoke, or just hang out. We will have a food truck set up every Friday thru Sunday until we get our kitchen completed and can serve our own food. The food truck and the kitchen will be available for anyone that would like to order food, especially those that check in late and don't feel like cooking their first night. KAYAKING!!! Take a relaxing paddle down the river in your kayak or ours. We have multiple trips 1, 2, 3, 6, and 10 miles and offer a shuttle service, and kayak rentals for those that don't have their own. LAZY RIVER TUBING!!!! Go with the flow in your tube or ours and float your cares away on our 2 mile float down Barren River. Float as many times as you would like per day, stop at the rope swing, or hang out at your campsite and then take off again. TANKING!!! Yes you read that right we now offer Tanking!! I'm sure you have never heard of it but let me tell you, as one group of campers exclaimed... "It is the most genius, redneck, fun thing we have ever done". Depending on the size of your group we will either put you in a 6ft or 8ft round metal cattle water tank and float you 2 miles down the river in it!! We have designed them for the maximum amount of fun and relaxation you can have on the water without getting wet... unless you want to. We have installed benches in them so all you need to bring is your cooler and friends and come spend the day on the river with new unique experience. FISHING!! Multiple fishing holes where you can catch stripe, small mouth, rock bass, Kentucky bass, channel cats, flat heads, and walleye on a regular basis. HIKING We have trails all over the farm from the scenic views on top of the bluffs to the quiet spring fed slate rock holler there is a trail for everyone to enjoy while you explore the farm. WATER SLIDE!!!! On the upper side of the Slab bridge is a 75 ft long water slide into one of our many swimming holes. It is steep and fast and you are sure to make a splash!!! SLIP N SLAB 600!!!! New at the end of 2023... is my Greatest Creation!! The Slip N Slab 600. What is it you might ask.... well.... It is the LONGEST Slip N Slide in ALL of Kentucky!! Come take a ride down our 600 Ft long Slip N Slide!! It starts up at the top of the hill by the office and you slide down the natural hollar and end in the pond just below the amphitheater. It really is Fun for the WHOLE Family!! We have had people as young a 2 and as old as 73 slide down it and each and every one of them came back up to the top with a smile on their face and was ready to do it again!! NOW ON TO THE RULES!!!! NO OUTSIDE FIRE WOOD!!! We sell large bundles for $10 at the camp store. We DO NOT allow ANY outside fire wood to be brought onto the farm!! DO NOT CUT DOWN ANY TREES ON THE FARM NO MATTER HOW SMALL!!! CAMPSITES WILL BE CHECKED AFTER YOUR STAY. IF WE FIND ANY TREES CUT DOWN ON YOUR SITE YOU WILL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE AND WILL BE CHARGED 7 TIMES THE MATURE VALUE OF THE DAMAGED TREE. BOOKING A CAMPSITE AT THE SLAB BY THE BARREN THRU THIS SITE MEANS THAT YOU AGREE TO THESE TERMS. We hate to have to do this but we have had trees chopped down for no reason. There is firewood available at the camp store and you are welcome to burn anything laying on the ground, trim low hanging branches, or pull stuff out of our brush piles. just don't cut down any trees. NO GLASS BOTTLES ARE ALLOWED ON THE FARM!! If we see them we will confiscate and dispose of them!! We are a WATER park and people run around barefoot. The last thing we need is broken glass all over the farm and people cutting their feet. So leave the GLASS AT HOME!! DIRT BIKES AND ATVS ARE NOW ALLOWED ON THE FARM!! Rider be respectful of our campers and ONLY ride on the designated trails!! There are idle only areas around Pickett Bottom cabin and ALL Campsites. If you are caught riding with throttle down the gravel roads in the campground or thru campsites you will be given ONE WARNING!! THE SECOND TIME it happens YOUR VEHICLE WILL BE IMPOUNDED for the remainder of your stay and you will receive A LIFETIME RIDING BAN FROM OUR CAMPGROUND. Be respectful and courteous and we will all have a great time!! We are trying to be inclusive to new activities while still staying the quiet peaceful slice of heaven that everyone has come to love. Please bear with us while we grow and try to work with everyone to make the Slab a place that everyone can enjoy. There is parking at the campsites. Parking is within walking distance of all campsites. Waters edge is approximately 100 to 200 yards from all campsites and you do have to walk to the waters edge. Water is visible from most campsites. There is only one path currently to the water. But new paths are welcome to anyone who wants to make a shorter path from there campsite to the water. Near Fall Creeks Falls, Cummins Falls, Burgess Falls all within Driving distance. Literature is available at office for local entertainment and things to see and do in the area. WIldwood Marina is just across the lake with great food entertainment and Pontoons for rent.

No city lights, a sky full of stars, beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need including spices and condiments for your use. I provide coffee for your quiet mornings on the front or back porch while you encounter the birds, deer, and sometimes even a fox. Enjoy! The space You will have access to the entire space. You will experience lots of wildlife during your stay. Feel free to grill out and build a fire. The property is on a dead-end road, has a huge yard, and tons of parking. There is also a pond on sight if you like to fish. There are 2 back patios and a balcony off of the master upstairs. The house easily sleeps 10. Please refer to the details in the listing as to bed sizes, etc…12 guests can make it work with the air mattress. I am currently painting the inside of the house room by room, so you may see some painter's tape in 1 said room. Thank you for overlooking this as it’s an ongoing DIY project. Reconnect with the simple things in life at this unforgettable location. Stay in our 1964 travel trailer, Betty-Lou. She’s a fully enclosed home away from home. There’s lots of space to lounge outdoors in a hammock or in front of the fire pit. You will be close to Nashville but away from all the traffic and noise. For a fee, we offer options of being driven around Nashville in our vintage station wagon, barbecue dinner, or breakfast on the deck (or in bed). Betty-Lou is a 1964 Holiday Rambler. She is fully equipped with a bathroom, shower, sink, stove, oven, fridge, microwave, queen size bed and dining area. Both heat and air conditioning are available using the quiet min-split system. Outside you have access to a fire pit, hammocks, and a fabulous deck for lounging. Not shown- there is an awning covered deck with a picnic table at the entrance to the RV. Great for morning coffee and taking your meals outdoors.

Nestled on a sprawling 40 acre farm just 15 miles from downtown Nashville, this cozy cabin is a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature's beauty. At the front of the property you will find horses in the paddocks as well as chickens, mini donkeys, a sheep, a pig, mini Highland cows, and dwarf Nigerian goats, all within the barnyard. A spring fed creek runs along the front of the property by the road and there is a stocked one acre pond near the main home. Also near the main home is treehouse "cabin" complete with a swinging bridge. Feel free to bring fishing poles, feed and pet the animals, and gather eggs early in the morning. Tucked in the hollow of the surrounding ridges, the rustic cabin sits on the hillside with a small pond at the foot. A wide front deck with rocking chairs and a double glider overlooks the pond, offering a perfect spot to have coffee at sunrise or unwind beneath the stars. The cabin is furnished with antiques, a fluffy queen bed, and an oversized bunk above. Although the cabin is meant to be a retreat from modern electronics, it does have a cieling fan, light, TV, and outlets powered by solar panels. There is an outdoor sink and small tankless hot water shower head, gravity fed by a water tank on the hillside. You will also find an RV toilet behind the cabin under the awning.
