This is a camping cabin, in the middle of the Daniel Boone National Forest. If you are into primitive camping and living, then this is the right place for you! Many types of wildlife and critters may be encountered during your camping adventure. Deer, turkey, squirrel, snakes of different types, and lots of wood bugs inhabit the woods. We are about 85 acres, surrounded by hundreds of acres of national Forest, located about 2 minutes from the Sheltowee Trail, and approximately 30 minutes away from Cave Run Lake, and 30 minutes from Carter Caves State Park. The cabin is off grid, but has a generator for heat and Air conditioning. The outside toilet is close to the cabin and has a "Wash up" area. There is also an outdoor shower on the property just a short walk away, down behind the host's garage, that features hot water. A great place to relax and detach from the stress of society for a few days, or hike, hunt, or head over to Cave Run Lake for some fishing. Tranquility and peace await you here.

The farm consists of 370 acres of bottomland pasture along the creek and quiet woodlands where you can explore jagged rock cliffs and beautiful vistas. The woodlands are undergoing transformation as we continue an ongoing forest rehabilitation project to return our land to its natural state as a deciduous hardwood forest. The Viking longhall has been 9 years in the making by a group of semi serious Viking enthusiasts: the result is a 60 foot long building that has 18, 8,x4' sleeping berths. Set apart from the main open area it also boasts 2 meeting rooms and a kitchen. The campsite is a very peaceful place. Some go as far as to say a healing place! We are proud of what we have achieved and now want people to come out and enjoy it also. The field is close enough to the Appalachian highway (state route 32) for convenience, but far enough not to be bothered by it. The area is steeped in Native American culture. In fact, the world famous Serpent Mound is but 8 miles away, with many other Adena culture sites within easy driving distance. It's also in the heart of the Amish community. The area is known for its natural beauty with many hiking trails and canoeing opportunities. The area is awash in beauty and history from the ancient mound culture to the amish culture. The area has many hiking trails some of which are part of the buckeye trail and range in length from an easy 1 mile loop to rugged hikes of many miles. Our remote 375 acres part farm and part natural woodland nestled up to Daniel Boone Forest is ideal for hikers and nature lovers. There are several hiking trails onsite and plenty of woods to explore. ATVs or side by sides are welcome to be used on the main gravel roads and some designated areas of our property. There is plenty of wildlife but NO hunting is allowed. Some of our designated tent sites do have firepits and/or picnic tables. Our trek in sites do not have those options. Pets are welcome for $10 per pet/per booking and they do need to be leashed/under control at all times. This is an extra so please be sure to add that if you plan to bring your pet. Please pick up after them. We are a short driving distance from West Liberty, Cave Run Lake, Grayson Lake, Carter Caves, Morehead, Natural Bridge and Red River Gorge. We are approximately 20 minutes from the nearest store so you'll want to come prepared. We are located in West Liberty (Morgan County). There are 2 centrally located bathhouses with toilet, shower and sink and a hose for potable water. We have firewood for sale for $20 per stay and is an extra option when booking(use what you need during your stay and it is centrally located near bath houses) you can bring your own and you are welcome to gather from the surrounding area but please do not cut down any living trees/limbs. There is a centrally located community building with a Wifi hotspot, streaming TV, Keurig, microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster/air fryer, swing set, foosball table and darts.

If you're looking to get away, unplugged, reset this is the place. Absolutely beautiful, tucked away in a holler. First thing we all noticed was the thought the host put into our stay. It was put together in a way even the kids wanted to leave it the way we found it. When they say all you need is your favorite pillow or blanket, they mean it. The host was welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Very respectful as far as privacy. Also, more than willing to offer assistance if asked. Sitting next to the fire, listening to the creek flowing, the fireflies, the sounds of the whippoorwill, it all made for a whimsical stay. One which we will plan again.

Weekend Trip to Possum Ridge Ranch

This was our second time staying in possum ridge ranch and it continues to be the best weekend get away spot we have found. We have thus far stayed in the bowman cabin and the sunrise cabin both are fully stocked to suit any need extremely comfortable well decorated and perfect for a romantic get away rain or shine. We loved our trip there so much the first time that I planned our second trip to come back so I could propose in front of the water fall on one of their many hiking trails. Side note the bowman cabin overlooks a duck pond and you get to watch them go about their little lives and me and all of our friends found it very relaxing. To sit on the porch grill some steaks and watch the ducks and song birds

After studying Norse Mythology, my 4th graders had a culminating overnight at this Viking Longhall. It was exactly the experience I was hoping for! David was very accommodating and hospitable. They loved the archery, creek swing, fire pit and the ambiance of the longhouse and yurt!

Weekend Trip to Possum Ridge Ranch

This is our second time booking at Possum Ridge Ranch! We booked the Hillside Cabin last minute on a trip to the red, which I might add was great after an all-day brutal hike! Couple things I'll point out. The bed was comfortable and there were a grill, mini fridge, and microwave. As a back packer and usual tent camper this made meals, quick and easy. Theres a small portable A/C and a small heater to use which we did and tv tray style tables to eat at inside if needed. Very accommodating!! The bath house is a blessing and very clean. We have come by ourselves and the first time with our four children, cannot say enough great things about this hipcamp. The trails are pretty, the views are great, its peaceful, relaxing, and a reminder of simpler times. You'll love the stay I promise. We already have a future date booked for July 4th for the 250th USA camping trip with our children.

We had a great stay overall. The Viking long hall was definitely a standout—such a unique and memorable feature that really sets this place apart. David and Iveagh were very kind and welcoming, and made it clear they were available if we needed anything. As experienced campers we didn’t need much assistance, but it was appreciated knowing they were there. The available hot shower and water were a great accommodation and definitely added to the comfort of the stay. The campsites are not on top of each other, but they aren’t very dispersed either. If you’re looking for a more private, spread-out experience, this may not be the best fit. Regardless, we felt nothing but welcome and accommodated. Overall, a really cool spot with a lot of character. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others looking for something a little different.

The cottage was beautiful and cozy and we loved the soft bedding and fluffy blankets on chilly nights. They provided a propane heater and had prepped a fire for us to light. The creek was clear and provided a serene soundscape. David was kind and helpful. He checked in with us to be sure we had everything needed, brought got coffee every morning, and gave us great advice on local hiking spots.

Awesome hide away!!! Brittany was very helpful and quick to respond to any questions. This is the quietest place I’ve been in a long time. The wood burning stove was more than enough to keep things toasty with just a small amount of wood. Bed and pillows are comfy and warm. The privy is a 10 out of 10 nature poop, highly recommend. We will definitely be back for another visit!
