I am proud to be a fourth-generation caretaker of this farm and surrounding acreage. My great-grandfather purchased this land in 1921 and since then, my family has been farming the best way that we knew how. For the last 30 years, that has meant a divergence from traditional farming practices to focus on regenerative farming-- farming that focuses on enriching the health of the soil and the animals instead of depleting it.On our farm, we raise beef, lamb, pigs and chickens and they all live out on pasture. In our farm store we sell meat, eggs, and raw, all-grass dairy products like milk, butter, cheese, kefir, and yogurt. Our customers drive from all parts of central Kansas to shop at Jako Farm because our food is different than food in the grocery store. We call it JakoPure food.Not only do we share our life-giving, gut-restoring food with others, but we want to share the experience of our farm, too. That's why we've started hosting guests on hipcamp so that you can truly experience what's special about our farm. Each location provides a unique perspective on our farm, and you'll engage a different part of our story at each place. But wherever you stake your temporary claim at Jako Farm, we hope you experience the peace and rest that we know and love.Learn more about this land:Jako Farm is a working regenerative farm, and this campsite provides an easy view of all that goes on here. The cows and sheep will graze near by while the chickens scratch in the distance. You'll see the farmers moving the animals to new pasture and the llama playing games with the sheep. If you're up at sunrise, you'll see Ken bringing the cows up to the barn for milking (April through November). Its pretty quiet here, except for the subtle noises of wildlife. (Fair warning: if you're in a tent, you will probably hear the milking machine kick on at 6:30am.) We're also proud to be a smell-free farm because all animals live out on pasture. There are killer sunrises and sunsets here. If you're lucky, you'll also see our resident bald eagle pair soaring through the sky.A bathroom with shower is available for your use in the barn nearby.Please be respectful of farm operations, although we're always open to answering questions if you see us around. Come and spend some time at a direct-to-consumer dairy farm. Our cows are called Dutch Belted. They are often referred to as Oreo cows. Stay on the farm where the milk is produced, processed, and sold. The farm store is a short distance away and sells a large variety of farm foods.
The farm consists of about 200 acres of pasture and creek bottom. The owner, Loyd, has lived on the farm all his life.
We are right beside what used to be a Navy base... yeah in Kansas.:) The runway still gets used for gliders. So you might see a glider being pulled up while you are here.

Learn more about this land:Come stay for a night at Turner's Quarter in our quiet country neighborhood. Enjoy access to a large fire pit, free firewood, and a large area for your camping activities. The Hughes Holler camp site is located in the mix grassed prairie of central Kansas. The site was once a homestead of some of the early pioneers of the area. While none of the remnants of the former farmstead remain. The the tranquility of sitting at a campfire on the banks of the pond can let ones mind wonder about what life would have been like living there in days gone by.
The site includes a spring fed pond with abundant fishing, predominately white bass. Guests are allowed to keep any fish they wish to eat on site. But please release any others back into the pond. There is a wooded area which provides nice shade for an area to relax from the Kansas summer sun and wind. Campers can also enjoy a camp fire either pond side of underneath the trees.
Sleeping accommodations are in a deluxe water proof tent. There are 2 queen air mattress which will comfortably sleep 4 people.
There is also a composting toilet on site.
Glamping Hosts provide some hot drink mixes, a coffee perculator, pot for boiling water, or making soup, a cooking grate for the fire, some hygiene products. We are working on a solar shower!
We are located 2 miles from the Kanopolis Lake wildlife and recreation area. Which includes numerous hiking trails at Horse Thief canyon. As well as 7 miles from historic Marquette with its unique downtown shops and activities: distillery, motorcycle museum, soda fountain shop/homemade ice cream, disc golf course, grocery store, bar and grill and liquor store. Horse Farm has been one of my favorite stays on hipcamp after using it for years! They were accommodating and easy to communicate with. The site was level for my van & the electricity was easily accessible. Bathroom was nice. But the highlight was, the sweet animals! I appreciated the tour so much and meeting all the cute creatures.
I don't have much experience being around horses and theirs were so gentle 🥹💖 really loved meeting the turkey, cows, goats & the guardian dogs as well. Thanks for a lovely, easeful stay!

My stay at Beverly‘s place was amazing. It was very peaceful and quiet. There’s lots of cool features on the farm and interesting history. Next time I go back I’m going to stay for longer and check out some of the local trails in towns. Beverly was an excellent host and accommodating. My dog got along well with her two dogs as well!

My wife and I stopped by for a night at Beverly’s on our way to Oklahoma City. She was extremely communicative and accommodating. We arrived extremely late and she waited up for us and even greeted us with snacks. Her land was beautiful and had plenty of room for our dog, Wyatt, to run free. Would recommend her land to anyone traveling on I70/ I135. Will definitely be staying again!

Had a Great time Staying at Beverly's. Loved the the farm, and the set up. Beverly went above and beyond to offer anything that I might need for my night's stay. Fantastic Hipcamp! My grandson and I had a wonderful time on the magical little farm. It felt very safe and like peaceful oasis. Beverly was wonderful and allowed Liam to feed the goats and sheep, play with the dogs and roam around the fenced property at will. She provided hot water for my coffee in the mornings and lovely snacks. She was very attentive to our needs throughout the visit and we will definitely return!

Daniel was very helpful host. I had a problem with my large cooler and he helped me sort it out. The site was very roomy and I was able to pull my camper around and remained attached without having to back up . I arrived the evening before a huge wind storm that was going to encompass all of my route the next day, so Daniel offered for me to stay another day, which I did. I’m glad that he told me about the wind storm because I would not have known about it and it would’ve not been fun driving in it. Due to the circumstances he offered to let me stay a second night gratis, but that was not necessary, I was grateful for the spot.

I could spend very good time with beautiful sunset, the flocks of ducks flying together, and the groups of goats and sheep were also wonderful. And clam night.
The owner is very kind and with many hospitalities.
We can do a campfire in the firepit or we can bring a portable firepit. The parking location has some flexibilities, so I could park my car as a wind shield.
I guess that family camping is also recommended, if you like animals and if you are beginners.

Beverly’s hipcamp was the perfect place to stop on our roadtrip out west. The dogs had so much fun exploring the space and Beverly was so incredibly kind and welcoming. It unexpectedly rained most of the night and we were able to set up a cozy spot to relax and unwind after a long day of driving inside the Whitehouse. We loved the spot so much we will be staying on our return trip back home!!!
