Learn more about this land:Come stay for a night at Turner's Quarter in our quiet country neighborhood. Enjoy access to a large fire pit, free firewood, and a large area for your camping activities. Take in a view of the bright night sky you just cant get in the city. Only 1 minute off the highway and only a quick walk to the main house in case of an urgent need. Perfect spot to stay a night if you're traveling across the state and don't want to stay at a busy campground. There are other houses nearby, but only home you can really see is ours from the site. We are careful to ensure our camper's privacy during their stay!

Come reconnect with nature and rejuvenate by the water at this unforgettable escape. Stargaze, watch sunsets, or curl up and read on the 15 foot hammock by the water. You’ll see lots of wildlife-ducks, geese, a great blue heron, deer, and more have been spotted by the pond.
The pond is about an acre in size and we also own the hay field south of the pond all the way to the road. You are welcome to walk around the pond on the path we’ve mowed and can also walk the field (depending on the time of year). It’s a hay field and you’ll see all sorts of vegetation growing up, including some beautiful wildflowers in the spring.
The RV spot is in a large grassy area next to an apple and peach tree. We also have a small asparagus patch and a raised bucket garden with tomatoes. Feel free to grab a couple items to add to your dinner as needed (depending on the season).
We do have barn cats (and frequently kittens) that might venture over to say hello and a new puppy named Pepper. Pepper loves new people, but wears a collar connected to an electric fence outside, so he won’t be able to reach your rv spot. However, you are more than welcome to walk to him and give him all the love and snuggles. We also have three children that you may see outside climbing trees, reading in homemade hammocks, or playing cabbage ball in the yard.
For the explorers, there are plenty of gravel roads to bike, kayaks and a paddleboat available for the pond. There is also an apple orchard up the road that has a small storefront and a mini golf course in the back. Emporia is only 4 miles south of us so there’s plenty of grocery stores and restaurants nearby.

Brenda was a fantastic host. She made sure we had everything we needed and was very accommodating. We had water, electrical hook-up, and a toilet/shower. We were staying in our Ram Promaster with two dogs on the property. Her property is fenced in so it was safe if we wanted our dogs off leash. There is also a fire ring for a bonfire. It rained so we didn’t get a chance to use it. We will stay with Brenda again if we come back to Kansas.

The Sleep Shack was perfect! AC worked well. It was clean and stocked with camping chairs and cornhole boards and bags. Shower and port-a-potty were clean; numerous fire pits to choose between with cooking grates attached to most of them. Would highly recommend while biking the Flint Hills Trail or just for a relaxing night or two away.

Amy and Darius are caring hosts. They have built a comfortable camp spot with the perfect balance of amenities. Showers, port a potties, fire rings and access to potable water. The two RV hookups do not overwhelm the Flint Hills setting with plenty of space for tent campers. Throw in their local knowledge and it fills all your needs. Highly recommend!

No complaints! It's always perfectly peaceful and serene. Plenty of available firewood. It is right along a lovely bike trail. Warm showers and clean bathrooms! The owners made sure to check in and were available throughout. I made a mistake in my rental and they were incredibly accommodating and kind. We came for the Unbound race and its a quick drive to Emporia by 20 min.

Basecamp Flint Hills is a great place to call home for a weekend! Everything you need and the serenity is unmatched! Amy and Darius were onsite during the unbound gravel weekend and when my vehicle wouldn’t start and my races started in less than an hour Darius was quick ti offer me a lift into town so I wouldn’t miss my race. That’s some true kindness and the type of people we need more of in this world. Luckily we were able to get it started and I finished the race later that day. I will definitely be back to Basecamp Flint Hills and I’d recommend it to anyone needing a place to stay.
