Come reconnect with nature and rejuvenate by the water at this unforgettable escape. Stargaze, watch sunsets, or curl up and read on the 15 foot hammock by the water. You’ll see lots of wildlife-ducks, geese, a great blue heron, deer, and more have been spotted by the pond. The pond is about an acre in size and we also own the hay field south of the pond all the way to the road. You are welcome to walk around the pond on the path we’ve mowed and can also walk the field (depending on the time of year). It’s a hay field and you’ll see all sorts of vegetation growing up, including some beautiful wildflowers in the spring. The RV spot is in a large grassy area next to an apple and peach tree. We also have a small asparagus patch and a raised bucket garden with tomatoes. Feel free to grab a couple items to add to your dinner as needed (depending on the season). We do have barn cats (and frequently kittens) that might venture over to say hello and a new puppy named Pepper. Pepper loves new people, but wears a collar connected to an electric fence outside, so he won’t be able to reach your rv spot. However, you are more than welcome to walk to him and give him all the love and snuggles. We also have three children that you may see outside climbing trees, reading in homemade hammocks, or playing cabbage ball in the yard. For the explorers, there are plenty of gravel roads to bike, kayaks and a paddleboat available for the pond, and plenty of fish in the pond to catch. There is also an apple orchard up the road that has a small storefront and a mini golf course in the back. Emporia is only 4 miles south of us so there’s plenty of grocery stores and restaurants nearby.

Campground and riverfont access is for registered guest only, there are no public facilities. Larger RV sites with electric only (30 amp camper plugs). The nearest RV dump station is at Love's Truck stop in St. Joseph 14 miles to the East. Each site has its own fire ring. You may bring your own wood or buy some at Casey's in Wathena. There is a hydrant near the elevated deck which is supplied with city water in case you need to fill jugs. Feel free to fish and enjoy shore fires along the banks of the Missouri River, but do so at your own risk and supervise minors at all times. Remember to bring your own fishing gear for an immersive experience by the water. Experience the tranquility of the riverfront and make the most of your stay. There is a fairly steep boat ramp past site 10. There are public boat ramps that are maintained in nearby Elwood, St. Joseph (near the Casino) and Atchison. This ramp can only be used by registered campground guest only and users assume all risk to themselves and property. The campground is at the original steamboat landing and downtown of the now ghost town of Palermo, KS. Nearby town of Wathena (2.5 miles) is the site of the beginning of the California Trail where settlers were let off at the river NE of town (area and trail is marked) and headed west. The Pony Express started at nearby St. Joseph, MO (9 miles) and passed through the area. It has a museum. Wathena has Star 36 Diner (breakfast, lunch and supper), the legendary Dairy Barn (ice cream and food options), VFW bar, quilting store.

We showed up with 4 kids between the ages of 5 and 12, and he pulled no stops entertaining them, including walking his horse down to our campsite for the kids to pet. Be sure to ask him what his record is with the ax throwing!!!😉😆 we will definitely be returning.

We were only here one night, and arrived late. Chad was very friendly, met us and escorted us to our spot. The spot was awesome. Quiet, clean, dark. We spent a few minutes the next morning walking around a bit, and this is a beautiful spot. We will most definitely be back and hopefully get to spend more time.

This place is phenomenal for all ages!! The horses, donkey and pup were so sweet and we absolutely loved them greeting us. We saw a cow run right past us on the land, which is beyond beautiful and so joyful to walk around. Our dogs had such a blast running. Great place to stay and be away from it all. We had site #10 Wanda's place for 5 days and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Water and Electric at the site and tons of room. The Campsites are extremely far apart and we could not see anyone at all from our site. Friendly owner/host Chad & Cynthia. Lots of walking trails, wildlife, great views. We will be back. FYI: T Mobile is almost non existant but with our starlink we had full internet and wifil calling worked great.

Highly recommend! We are staying for a night in a middle of a long trip, host was welcoming and guide us to our site even all dark outside. Our site is quiet and private, I feel really safe staying here. Host provided good firewood for free. We spent the morning under the tree and letting our pup run free even in the water. He had a really good time after long road trip. I would highly recommend staying here with our without a dog

This was such a beautiful site! We had 2 sites next to each other and had plenty of space in a picturesque landscape. We were just passing through in a long journey but would absolutely stay here again. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. We had to drive about 6 miles on unsaved roads but made it just fine with our travel trailer and class C campers.

5 nights at C2T Ranch on the Saline River

This piece of property is one of a kind. You can't go wrong with any campsite on the property, with crystal clear Saline river running by under huge limestone bluffs. Amazing Sunsets and wildlife. Actually watched a coyote playing in the river this morning from my tent. Chad and Cynthia are very responsive and definitely get some Cinnamon rolls and the Zucchini Bread while you are there.
