1 night at Blueberry Farm on a Hill

Spent my last night at Jenna & Eric’s place on my way back home from travelling out West. The camping spot was private and quiet, surrounded by beautiful oak trees. I would highly recommend getting blueberries during your stay as they were delicious. If I was ever out their way I would definitely stay there again!

I just spent the weekend at Neverland Barnyard, and I can honestly say it was more than just a place to camp—it was a soul-filling experience. From the moment I arrived, Bob, Xene, and Lindsay welcomed me in like I was family. Their kindness, generosity, and warmth made me feel instantly at home, and that kind of genuine hospitality is rare and deeply appreciated. The property itself is nothing short of magical—wide open skies, peaceful spaces, and a feeling that you're somewhere truly special. The art on the property is nothing short of amazing. The solar shower felt great on a hot day! If you’re looking for a getaway that not only gives you beauty and quiet, but also reminds you that good people still exist in this world—this is your spot. I left feeling a little lighter, a little happier, and a whole lot more grateful. I can’t wait to return.

This is absolutely our favorite place to stay on our drive across the country. There is truly something magical and nourishing about the land and the curating they have done to the farm. We always wish we could stay longer.

2 nights at 1860's Botanical Paradise

I stayed in the “bunky.” A lovely room with lots of natural light and a sweet little area to sit and enjoy tea or the birds. Jessica was a welcoming host, she even made me strawberry tea and lent me a cooler since I had forgotten mine. Even on a 90 degree day, the room stayed cool with the fans going and windows allowing for a cross breeze.

This small campground has ten sites, only one of which was occupied when we arrived. During our stay, two other trailers came just for an overnight. My boys loved playing in the river. We didn’t meet the hosts but would stay again.

3 nights at n*Everland Barnyard Camping

So peaceful. We felt very welcome on this beautiful land. Easy access to water for washing dishes, wonderfully refreshing outdoor shower, choice of many unique sites to set up our tent. Plenty of firewood. Inspiring surroundings and open-hearted hosts. We kayaked the Wapsipinicon river from Monticello to Pictured Rock and also explored Horse Thief cave at the state park. We will be back!

It was a nice site by the little creek and grass was cut. It was just a stop for the night. Mark was good about reach out to ask when we would arrive.

Weekend Trip to RidgeRiverView Acres

We loved Jims Cozy Cabin. Jim was super laid back. This was a perfect place for me, my husband and our two pups. We stayed only two nights but could have stayed longer. Our pups loved exploring the farm and I loved floating in the pond with our neighbor. Whom stayed in the beautiful canvas tent on the other side of the pond. It was very secluded with all the amenities you'll need. He offered to help with our fire and he blew up floats for us. He even offered us fresh veggies from his garden. The cabin was very clean and cute. A/C worked great and was much needed. Cabin was only an hour away from Galena IL and 30 min from Dubuque IW both towns have great shopping, bars and restaurants. But if you're just looking to get away from the city and see the stars this place is where you need to be. We loved sitting on the dock at night looking at the stars. You can tell Jim spent a lot of hard work on his property to make it beautiful with all the flowers and hanging lights everywhere even around the lake. When we left we couldn't thank Jim enough. We will be back.

Weekend Trip to Shadybrook Camping and RV Adventure

This place is wonderful! A much needed respite after a long journey. The grounds are lush and immaculately maintained with ample shade. We enjoyed walking our dogs on the perfectly mowed pathways and listening to the frogs in the nearby pond. Yes there is noise from the freeway but we weren’t bothered by it at all and you can’t beat the location for convenience. Clean bathrooms and hot showers rounded out a delightful stay. I hope we get to visit again.

Anna is such a lovely human I am grateful to have had beautiful conversations with her. She hosts magical lands with firefly’s lighting up the sky at night. We had our camper here and it was absolutely amazing. The host Amie was so kind. My son absolutely loved playing with the chickens and feeding them. We hiked all throughout the acreage available and it’s very dog friendly. I would definitely say this is a must go check it out if you’re ever in the area.

Weekend Trip to 1860's Botanical Paradise

Super great experience. I stayed in Bunkie. There is no AC BUT a nice fan and windows that open. I was there during the heat advisory and was comfortable. Fresh coffe made by the host, Jessica. Get some eggs while you are there as they are amazing. Would definitely stay again.

Nicki was a great communicator. I never made it to her lad due to car trouble, but I’m sure it would have been a great stay.

7 nights at Bend River Farms

Amy and Dave are amazing hosts. They’re friendly, knowledgeable and lot of fun. The site was beautiful and an easy turn off the main road. We loved hearing the roosters in the morning especially the babies who were learning to crow. The stargazing from the flat water hot tub was so romantic and relaxing. Our dogs had a great time on the long hiking trails where we greeted the horses. We will definitely be stopping back by sometime!

Burkhart Farm

We live in the country on a working grain farm (corn and soybeans). It can get noisy and dusty during harvest and grain hauling operations. You could wake up to deer eating grain around the bins. In the evenings, you can look down to the East by tree line for deer and turkey. We can handle any size RV. Please pick up after your dogs. We have guest children that play in yard. All spots are level. All electric sites are 30/50 and are for year-round use. We have 9 sites with electric and city water. 3 sites are gravel. 4 sites are grass. 2 are concrete. We also have a large primitive camping area west of the grain bins in open yard (no electric or water). Rv parking is available on grass when ground is hard or on the concrete and gravel driveway when soft. We have one picnic table for campers’ use. There is a trail we keep mowed North East of the hay barn alongside the crops, which is great for walking/dog run. Gray water may be dumped in the farm field; the crops love it. Sorry, we can no longer recommend black water dump stations as the local campgrounds are refusing non-customer use. Whistling Donkey in Woodward has a dump station; you can call them and ask if you can use it (515) 438-2669. You can be as private or engaged with us as you feel. Dumpster is by machine shed. There are 30+ local TV channels (no cable available). Open southern skies for satellite use. The lights automatically turn off at 10 PM. Fire pit is available for your use. Firewood is available East of the barn. Fire Pit light dims down to 15% after 10 PM. Yard lights also come on for one minute at Noon every day. Stargazing really pops at night on a clear night. You are welcome to turn lights back on and continue outdoor activities and use fire pit as long as you do not disturb other campers. Mouse and weather vane lights stay on all night for your convenience. Please do not put trash in fire pit. (I have to clean it out) We would prefer if guests arrive before dark; we like to settle down for the evening. WIFI is 250 Mbps depending on number of users. WIFI is Farm. Password is farmfarm (no caps) (Farm is 4 Miles North of Woodward). 1140 300th St Woodward Iowa Caution; Google maps has a tendency to have you take extra gravel roads. Follow the instructions below to stay on paved roads untill last 1/3 mile. From Woodward: Head to North end of town turn left to the West onto North 3rd St. Go 1/4 mile turn right at T intersection to the North onto R18 for two miles. At stop sign turn left to the West on R18. (stay on R18 do not go straight North onto the gravel) in 1 mile turn right to the North still on R18 for 3 miles turn right to the East on gravel 300th St for 1/3 mile. Turn right at (Address 1140) Mickey Mouse Pole Light. Park at Woody the hoot owl and we will help you find a spot. From Ames: Head West on highway 30 to Highway 17 go South for 5 miles to Luther turn right on E57 to the West for 7 miles. Park at Woody the hoot owl and we will help you find a spot. From Ogden: Head South on Highway 169 for 5 miles to E57 turn left to the East for 4 miles.
