Each site is in a wooded, shaded area with a flat area on the ground to place a single large tent. Each site has its own fire ring and a small wooden table. There is wood on the ground you may use for firewood, and ample twigs etc on the ground for kindling (do not cut any trees or branches off trees). There is a covered firewood shed with dry firewood as well. There are maintained trails with river access for kayaks. There are 2 porta potties near the campsites with a handwashing station, that is open year round. There is a single bathroom with flush toilet and sink with running water that is a short walk away (open May-Oct depending on weather) There is an outdoor on-demand hot-water shower at bathroom, with a water hose available as well. On-demand hot water heaters provide hotter water at a low water pressure, and cooler water at full blast. We do provide a large trash bin near the porta potties for trash disposal. DO NOT throw trash into fire pits or burn barrels in the woods. Campsites are a short walk (100-200 feet) away from parking area (you CANNOT drive directly to or park at your campsite). Foster Park is a short bike ride away where you will find greenway trails that run throughout Fort Wayne (ride your bike to downtown!!) Our property backs up to the St Mary's River, bring you kayaks and fishing poles! (We reserve the right to assign you to a different (but equally beautiful) campsite in the case of property maintenance concerns, recent rain or weather conditions etc). Cattail springs was a perfect little getaway. Sites were very clean, it was just what we needed for a nice weekend. Even though Cole was away he was still able to be reached and accommodating if anything would have been needed. We would absolutely stay here again

Weekend Trip to The Firefly Nest

My mother and I spent her 79th birthday “glamping” in the Firefly Nest, which turned out to be only 10 minutes from our house in town. It ended up being unseasonably cold with rain showers, so it was a real treat to roll in and have everything ready for us - no tent to pitch, and the firewood already split and under a roof. The rain cleared by supper time and we enjoyed the birdsong, the deer we spotted, and the rustling of leaves in this beautiful patch of woods… and the flush toilet, actual beds, and heater/fridge/lights were also quite welcome. I’ll be recommending Tim’s place for out-of-town visitors who prefer an alternative to hotels, since it’s both closer to my house and offers more privacy than any of the Fort Wayne or New Haven hotels/motels. Thanks for a delightful stay.

It was a very peaceful stay. Bed was very comfy and the cabin was very cozy. Loved the wood burning stove. The propery was very nice and quiet. We came during a bad wind storm but it was still very peaceful in the cabin. Would definitely recommend staying here.

We booked with Dean and Nancy for New Year's and had such a lovely stay! It was quiet, peaceful, and comfortable. There is heating, hot water in the detached bath, and ample space for infant equipment and our bassinet. It was some of the prettiest lodging I've ever seen, especially all decked out in seasonal decor. 10/10, plus bonus points for the free snacks and coffee, tea and cocoa.

2 nights at Lazy Acres

This was a first for both of us...winter camping...and mother nature gave us quite the run for the money with temps dropping from 69 when I arrived to 12 degrees by morning with thunderstrorms and 50-60 mile winds. Jeremy was so gracious and helpful...perservering thru 3 dying generators and making sure I was safe and warm. I'm looking forward to seeing the place next summer when it's all green and with weather that allows exploring! Lol.

The bus is adorable, the Whitney provided information ahead of time and then was always responsive when I had questions. The clubhouse looks like a great place to spend time...though I wasn't there long at all - just a quick stop-over on a road trip. I wish I'd had more time to explore because the images online don't seem to do it justice. It was cold November night and I got a head's up from Whitney - and they provided a small propane heater. I knew I was taking a risk booking when I did, but I very much appreciated the thought. Still, I woke up to snow, which I absolutely hadn't expected! The location is definitely out of the way (a benefit), but somewhere I'd go out of my way to go back to for a longer stay.

This was the perfect place to spend an evening reflecting and setting intention! The whole land is gorgeous. The hosts were very friendly (but not overly so ;)). The bus is quaint and welcoming and tucked away for privacy. As a female, solo camper, I would highly recommend for anyone who wants the feel of solo camping, but with a little assurance of safety/ security and access to home-based accessories (i.e. indoor toilet and coffee in the am!) I'll definitely be back!

I had a great experience at The Hollow at Cattail Springs! I was the only one onsite during my time there, so I had the whole place available to me. There was plenty of firewood so the fire stayed hot, I had complete access to the pond, and I had ample time of solitude which I was after. I couldn't recommend booking through Cole enough! He was there waiting for me when I arrived and was like talking to someone I had known for a long time. Thanks for the hospitality!

This was my first camping experience and I couldn't have picked a better place. The property is absolutely stunning! I can't wait to return in the summer, but I'm so glad we got to see the fall colors. Such a short walk to the river, which is just gorgeous. The cabin was perfect for us. The wood stove and water system were super easy to use and having a TV was a cherry on top! Lol. There were little touches everywhere of things that were either helpful or just plain charming. My main concern, being a first-timer was safety and that box was definitely checked. It's a perfect spot for a couple, a family with children or a group of college kids. We just left and I can't say enough. Thanks, Marla, for an amazing time!
