Grit and Grace Homestead is a peaceful working homestead in the heart of northeastern Indiana, where faith, farming, and nature come together. Our mission is simple: grow it, teach it, and pass it on. The property is home to Jo’s House, our unique bee-bed experience, as well as an active apiary and a variety of farm animals, including Idaho Pasture Pigs, Hank the Highland cow, goats, lambs, ducks, and chickens. Throughout the seasons, you’ll experience the sights and sounds of a real homestead—from bees busily gathering nectar to livestock grazing in the pastures. Guests are welcome to stroll around the property, relax by the fire pit, enjoy breathtaking sunsets, watch the stars come alive after dark, and simply slow down from the pace of everyday life. Whether you’re listening to the birds in the morning, watching pollinators work among the flowers, or enjoying the peaceful rhythm of the farm, there’s always something to discover. Grit and Grace Homestead is also a place of learning. Throughout the year, we host educational opportunities centered on beekeeping, homesteading, gardening, food production, and other traditional skills, helping people connect with the land and with one another. Whether you’re here to explore, relax, or simply enjoy the beauty of rural Indiana, we hope you’ll leave feeling refreshed, inspired, and a little more connected to the natural world.Experience one of the most unique overnight stays you’ll ever find. At Jo’s House at Grit and Grace Homestead, you’ll spend the night in our handcrafted Bee House, where your bed rests safely above live honey bee colonies. The bees remain completely enclosed beneath you, allowing you to relax as you listen to their gentle hum and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere they create. As evening settles in, gather around the fire pit, enjoy the quiet of the countryside, watch the stars come out, and experience the slower pace of life that only a rural homestead can offer. Wake to the sounds of birds singing, cows mooing, and the farm coming to life. Your stay includes the opportunity to experience our active homestead, home to: * Hank, our Highland cow * Idaho Pasture Pigs * Goats * Lambs * Ducks * Chickens * Our working apiary with hundreds of thousands of honey bees Depending on the season, you may see baby animals, beekeeping, gardens in bloom, or other daily homestead activities. You’re welcome to explore designated areas of the property, meet the animals, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Jo’s House is more than a place to spend the night—it’s a chance to unplug from everyday life, reconnect with nature, and experience the beauty of a working homestead. Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, a peaceful retreat, or an unforgettable adventure, this one-of-a-kind overnight stay offers an experience you’ll be talking about long after you leave.
