This was once a self sustaining farm built in the 1950s. The farm raised cattle, pigs, chickens. There was 35 tillable acres which produced corn and oats for the livestock. The farm had its own feed grinder in the old barn. There is an old hand built cooler room where all the meat was stored. There are four wells on
the farm one of which is used for watering animals and cooling alpacas on hot summer days.
One of our tent sites is in the corner of our alpaca pasture. You'll hear the roosters, goats, donkeys and more than likely, Rose, our Maremma livestock guardian dog, throughout your stay.

Our property has a robust migratory bird population. We see Blue Heron, geese, ducks, song birds, birds of prey, including the occasional Bald Eagle visit our property.
We have a small wetland area and pond, which attract a lot of wildlife, such as muskrat, deer, fox, frogs, turtles, and other small woodland animals.
We have wooded areas as well as meadows, which are perfect for tent camping, and are a short walk from the parking area.
Our property makes a great base camp for exploring local areas of interest.
Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site is just a few miles south of Charleston.

Large secluded cove near our barn and garden. Watch the sun come up from the orchard. There is 1 electrical plug so not all 3 spaces have electric but you can run a cord. There is also a single water spigot to share as well. There are 2 houses somewhat visible through the trees but no direct line of sight and otherwise private. We have 2 dogs, Whiskey and Barb, Whiskey will usually keep her space but bark, if you ignore her she will be friendly, acts mean but never bites. Barbara is a Jack Russell. She will jump in the truck if you don't tell her not to and will happily run off with snacks. We ask you please don't feed them as it will teach them to come for food and some people don't appreciate the dogs.. This is a farm so you may see and smell animals. Depending on when you book you may even be somewhat near animals. Be aware of this and be ready to keep dogs contained. We typically run pigs in the woods around the cove but we move them regularly and keep the smell to a minimum by doing so.

Our little homestead farm sits out on the Illinois Prairie, in the middle of corn and soybean fields. We are a short drive from Illinois' largest Amish community in the Arcola/Arthur area. The camper is 28 feet with a 12 foot tip-out. It has one bedroom with a king size bed, and another with a double bed. In the common area there's a sleeper sofa. There's a bathroom with shower in the camper and another bathroom with shower about a 1 min. walk in a separate building.
Our farm is just a 5 min. drive from the Great Pumpkin Patch, Yoder's Country Kitchen and various Amish owned shops. Beautiful Lake Shelbyville is a 35 minute drive. We are about a 45 min. drive from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and 35 min. from Eastern Illinois University.
This Amish owned camper doesn't have Wifi (TV only plays DVD's). Depending on your phone carrier & plan, you shouldn't have any problem getting cell phone service & internet on your phone. It may be possible to funnel the internet from your phone to your phone to your laptop using a "personal hotspot".

Weekend Trip to Willenborg Woods
We had such a perfect weekend at Becca's place. The spot is quiet, scenic, secluded, and quaint. While it's only about 500 feet from where you park, the A-frame structure still feels very private where it's nestled into the woods. There are miles and miles of trails to explore (we got a bit lost and stumbled upon a very beautiful creek one afternoon) and Becca and Craig are gracious hosts, offering warm conversation and suggestions if you need them. The chickens are friendly, the view from the site is very pretty. The camp shower, while shabby, is hot and refreshing. I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking to duck out of the city and under the stars.

3 nights at Willenborg Woods
The Willemborgs are the best kind of people - they understand, respect and share the desire to immerse yourself in nature, while also graciously bringing you morning coffee and pastries when it's appropriate! Their 136 private acres are more beautiful than words, and the pictures of the 8 miles of trails do not do justice to how simultaneously challenging and relaxing your hiking exploration will be. We fell asleep to the sound of gently singing crickets, wind whispering in the trees, a barred owl (!), woodpeckers in the distance, and the thunderously pure silence you can only get out in the woods. When we couldn't immediately get our campfire going, they gave us aid, and we prepared every meal for three days over our open flames, including coffee. We felt like the first humans ever to cook, and it made our food all that more delicious! The entire trip was so amazing we agreed that we will have to return for an encore or several in the coming years. Thank you, Rebecca and Craig, for exactly the romantic solitude and adventure we needed to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary year!

The field is very private. Even if 4 campers were there everyone could be spread out enough . We will return when traveling the I 70 corridor. Access is quick and easy. Our first visit Brad very helpfully met , and guided us to the site.

In April there were violets and Redbud's in bloom, that splash of purple was magical. We loved the cows, goats and chickens on the far end of the large fenced in field. The fire rings and cute benches made from crates were super creative. We saw cottontail bunnies, white tail deer and heard turkeys. A nice relaxing stay under a full moon.

We had a great time camping at Green Meadow Farm with our two dogs. Merle was communicative and very accommodating. The farm was easy to find just outside of town and a beautiful spot, with horses, cats, and sheep around. It was peaceful and lovely to wake up to the sunrise across the fields. Very nice bathroom and shower facilities available. Anytime we return to the Arthur area we will definitely be giving Merle a call. We really enjoyed our stay!

Sherri’s property is beautiful! It’s an old campground that they’ve spruced up, there’s a nice bathhouse with showers and flushing toilets. There’s a cute little pavilion with yard games & a coffee maker. There’s a sand volleyball court, tether ball, and swings. There’s a gravel drive so you can get your car to the camp sites and back right into your spot.

This was probably the best Hipcamp experience we have had so far! Sherri and her husband have done a great job making this a great site - there were games, campfires and coffee in the morning, plus a real bath house. They are located close to Turkey Run State Park (less than 10 min) and Shades State Park (about 25 min) - a great place to stay if you like hiking at these great parks. We loved staying here and plan to come back - we highly recommend it!

Sherri was a phenomenal host! Upon arrival she greeted us to show us around the beautiful property. The pictures don’t do this place justice. We loved exploring all the trails and possible places we were allowed to camp. It is really a little nature pocket tucked away that is close to many amenities. We enjoyed a camp fire with wood included looking at the full moon and stars! The ninja grill worked well for our cooking needs and Sherri helped us work it. She provided many recommendations to us on what to do and explore too. Also her cat and doggos were so friendly! The bathrooms were clean and felt luxurious for camping. She provided many basic amenities from soap, shampoo, bug spray, and fire starters. She even brought out a Keurig for us to have tea and coffee in the morning. We will be back to return and appreciate her hospitality. We really felt taken care of with our expectations exceeded!

everything from our weekend trip was a 11/10. Rebecca and Craig were the best hosts! it was the a great off the grid weekend surrounded by the most beautiful landscape and easy to navigate hiking trails. felt like being in the middle of no where without being in the middle of no where. we cooked all our meals by the fire and were giving coffee, pastry, and eggs saturday morning :) we’re already plotting when we can come back!!

Our entire weekend was made better not only because of the gorgeous and expansive property but also because of the incredibly helpful and friendly hosts! The trail system here is upkept very well and is easy to navigate with minimal effort. The property has a little bit of everything (creeks, hills, forest, etc.) and a weekend wasn’t nearly enough to see it all. Waking up to hot coffee and fresh eggs outside the cabin was an unexpected delight! We came for a calm, peaceful weekend and that is what we got. We will be coming back one day and you should too!

Weekend Trip to Willenborg Woods
This place is amazing! I have zero complaints! We had everything we needed and more, all in the middle of secluded woods. We stayed in the teardrop trailer and loved the comfort of kitchen, fridge, shower, bathroom, AC, etc. the beds were comfy and so many included supplies. Farm fresh eggs, bread, and coffee were delivered each morning. The hosts Becca and Craig are incredible people who really care about you and your experience. They were so responsive, kind and helpful. They delivered xtra firewood and even gave us a ride down to the river and to see the riverfront A frame rental, which I definitely want to rent next time. The grounds were well kept, with bathrooms available and an outdoor shower for those not staying in the teardrop trailer to still have a bathroom and shower. Subtle touches like flowers planted, picnic tables, stacked rocks, tiki torches, and more made it feel xtra special and inviting. We loved the chickens roaming the property and coming to visit. Becca the host is a rockstar! Such an amazing person with so much life experience, humble, minimalist, accepting and full of positive energy. I can’t wait to come back!

Becca and Craig were the most amazing hosts. When we were dropped off at our site, it felt like making new friends. We had such a wonderful stay at the A-Frame! The setting was peaceful and private, with beautiful river access just steps away. Our hosts were incredibly gracious and thoughtful, even arranging a kayak ride on the river that became a highlight (despite low water levels) of our trip. Breakfast each morning was a perfect touch and made us feel so welcomed. At night, we fell asleep to the calming sounds of nature all around us—a truly relaxing experience. Highly recommend for anyone looking to unwind and enjoy the outdoors with the comfort of warm hospitality. When we left on Sunday, it was like visiting old friends. This site has everything you can want. Additionally, in our excitement to continue chatting with Becca as we were leaving, we left quite a few things behind! She was SO generous enough to mail it (washed and folded) back to us. We will definitely be visiting again soon.
