We loved this place so much! The animals were so much fun, creek is so beautiful, the rocks are immaculate, and the owners of the property are so kind. It seems like they are adding more and more daily! Be prepared for poison ivy and poison oak it’s all over! I highly recommend staying here!!

Weekend Trip to Hawks Bluff Farm Campground

This was my first ever experience with Hip Camp and I'm blown away. Elizabeth and Mark is hands down some of the friendliest people! Everywhere you walk you can find gems! We got to set up our tent right by the pond so we had easy access to the kitchen, fishing and the friendly farm animals. We had a blast and can't wait to come back!

Weekend Trip to Hawks Bluff Farm Campground

The campground is a farm complete with goats, cows and at least one horse. There are several composting toilets and two comfortable showers. The camp kitchen is well stocked and is great for meeting fellow campers. There are designated electric sites, but most of the others seem to be wherever looks good. A short hike to Mill Creek completes the grounds. There are trails as well, but I did not get to check them out on this trip. What makes the property is the owner Elizabeth and rock guru, Mark. They each went out of their way to make my stay enjoyable. I was originally only going to stay one night but decided to stay two. And the rocks. The rocks are amazing! Mark cuts and polishes rocks on-site and it's really cool to experience. Creating a peaceful place to relax and heal while appreciating and respecting nature is a wonderful idea. The campground is a work in progress, but I am excited to see how it grows.

The place is level, wide, and well kept! Definitely not the spot if privacy is your #1 priority, but tucked away out of eye shot from major roads. Directions were clear and thorough and host is friendly and communicative!

A wonderful peaceful experience in a gorgeous rural setting.....mules braying, cows mooing, goats bleating and some friend dogs looking for a good petting. The RV site worked out perfectly and we enjoyed some nice walks around the farm whilst looking for a few select rock specimens particular to the area. Had some interesting weather but was quickly called to the safety of the basement in the house where we had a great conversation with Mark....the rock specialist!!! Pink boot horse made me feel safe when hearing evil noises at night. Great portapotty too. Deceivingly cute bunny but definitely evil. I woke up to a cock a doodle doo which reminded me of when I grew up on the farm. Sad memories, shed a tear.

Weekend Trip to Happy Trails Farm Resort

It was a cute working farm on the outskirts of St. Louis! We were only passing through on this visit but can’t wait to come back through on a future trip and spend some time exploring the region and the Chain of Rocks Bridge! The animals were a treat to see! The only negative, if any, was the lack of graveled / dry parking area. It had recently rained and we had to park off of the gravel road because of standing water.

Great spot, level and clean with quick freeway access and close to downtown. A little tricky for a trailer to pull in for the hookups on driver side and still get the car out but I made it work.

Very relaxing stay near Alton and St Louis. Very peaceful with lots of animals to see. Set up van under a willow tree the side of the property and had lots of privacy. I would stay again. Everyone friendly, including the animals.

If you want more rustic, feel free to cross the creek to the timber and choose a primitive camping spot there. Enjoy mowed trails to hike or bike. Water (from hydrants and hoses) and portopotty are up near main barns. We have 60 horses on the farm as well as goats, cats, and chickens. We do not offer access to horses unless you're in a riding lesson, or have scheduled a pony riding session. We look forward to sharing our little piece of heaven with you!
