I have a lake with lots of fish to go fishing, canoeing, kayaking. I also have small jon boat available for fishing. My property also has a outdoor his and hers privys..(bathrooms) No water though. I also have two construction trailers that we remodeled with couches chairs tables and refrigerators and TV's. These have a microwave in them to. These are available for people to stay in if wanted. They also have heat and AC. No water though. They cost extra to stay in.There's also places with camper plug ins. So power is available. Also have horseshoe pit and overhead cooking area. Great place for tent camping also. Have fire pit. And fire rings available. Also have access to firewood. Just no water. Great quiet enjoyable place for getaway to go fishing,canoeing or kayaking. Conveniently located between Peoria and Bloomington Illinois. Only about 3/4 from the Mackinaw river. For those who love to canoe and kayak on the river.
Paddle boats will be available please inquire.
I have several tent camping spots. No assigned spots. They're on a first come first serve basis. The cost is $40 per tent that is put up. Four wheel drive are not needed just recommended if it is supposed to rain. You're allowed to bring more than one vehicle but please check with me first. Thanks. I grew up on a farm and thrilled to be enjoying country living once again! We are not annual campground, but we have space on the property for travelers needing an overnight or two. We can be found on HIPCAMP listed under OLD RUGGED BARN.
We are in central IL near Historic Rt 66, minutes north of Bloomington-Normal with easy access from I-55. The property is a small 3.5 Acre farmstead that includes our event venue, space that can used for campers, and my home.
We offer space for Campers through Hipcamp. We are NOT a campground per se. We do have space on our property to comfortably accommodate up to 8 spaces for Overnight guests.
I moved to the farm in 2010 with the intent to simply enjoy the peace And quiet of country living. Then I realized we Could create a place that could serve as a place for community to gather for special events.

Sled or toboggan down a hill, fish in the freeze, or cross-country ski across the icicle-laced countryside. Once it warms up, all the classic trappings of a park are found in abundance. Hike one of the several trails while you keep an eye out for hawks and warblers, or angle for some bullhead fish from the comfort of your boat. Decatur has a mini golf course, splash cove water park, children's zoo and museum, a governor's mansion for tours and 3 museums to visit. Milikin University offers local college level sports. Decatur has a great lake for paddle boarding, boating and fishing with canoe trips down the local Sangamon River.
Several local breweries and cute market areas makes Decatur a great place to visit. Take a ride on the trolley and learn out our history.
Springfield sites are only a hop and skip away with many things to see and learn. Museums offer great programs and the New Salem Park is a fun day trip with the kids to learn about historic living. Lincoln's sites around in several counties are great to see.
You also have the opportunity to hike in some great parks and ride your bike on some outstanding central Illinois paths.
If you happen to visit late summer enjoy the Illinois Farm Progress show and maybe catch a concert at the Devon Theatre on the lake.

Family owned private campground since the 1940's. Very secluded and private. We offer a very unique experience that you will not find any public campground. I many ways we have a "private state park".
Nice trails for hiking or biking. There is even a small "race track" in the bottom bowl near the creek. There are several direct access points to the creek for fishing or wading. We have miles of marked trails that are easy for everyone.
Horseshoe Bend Main is a larger campground with four dispersed sites which a very spread out. This site has (3) 30 amp outlets for RV's. Porta potties are also provided.
The Horseshoe Bend Creekside sites are designated spots that are on the West Panther creek bank. There are porta potties, but no electric or water.

Pitch your tent near the creek (site 1) in a completely private site (kids can sleep in the truck bed topper or fort if they'd like) or on the field to the side of the house (site 2) for a semi-private spot nearest to the bathroom and with a wood chip drive entrance for larger vehicles or (site 3) a semi- private spot down by the creek and the hay bales to the left of the house. (Or pick a spot of your choosing). Enjoy the farm animals, walk the property, build a fire, and enjoy the outdoors!
There are more animals to pet from April through October (typically we have bunnies, chickens, sheep, cats, dogs, alpacas, miniature horses, horses, pig, goat, etc.). In the winter the horses, alpacas, chickens, dogs, cats and sometimes bunnies are available to visit.
Firewood bundles available for $10
The creek at times is swimmable, other times it's walkable, and sometimes in the heat of July it's very shallow. There is a zip line, log or bridge to cross the creek.
There is a state park (Ft. Daniel) less than 5 minutes away and others a bit further (Spitler or Sand Creek)
Horseback riding may be available upon request - $25.00 per person or $50.00 per family.
There is a large shaded playground in the front yard for the kids with a trampoline, small zip line, ninja line, slack line, silks, climbing dome, hammocks, etc.
BATHROOM: If you are looking at the house from the street, the bathroom is on the right of the house, attached to the house. It is a small shed looking building and is pictured. It has a toilet and running hot and cold water.

Had a great time at Horseshoe Bend! We stayed at Walnut Grove with our dogs and cat and really enjoyed the peaceful, relaxing property. The shower was clean, and the portable toilet was very convenient. Thanks for the free firewood! Brady was such a nice host, and the property is very well maintained. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back!

We had an amazing stay at Horseshoe Bend Ridge. The site was very secluded and peaceful, and we were lucky enough to have the property almost entirely to ourselves aside from one other couple staying far enough away that we barely knew they were there.
The site was very well maintained and extremely well stocked with firewood, which was a huge plus. Everything felt cared for and ready for us when we arrived. Even the porta potty deserves a mention because it was easily the cleanest one we have ever used while camping.
If you are looking for a quiet, private place to relax and enjoy your campsite without a lot of traffic or people around, this is a great spot. We had a fantastic stay.

Fantastic stay! I took full advantage of the shower house this time around and it completely changed the experience. I loved feeling fresh and comfortable and not in sweat soaked clothing.
Always a benefit to have free (essentially) unlimited firewood! The coyotes song was so beautiful Sunday morning! Truly is a beautiful piece of heaven.

We had another amazing trip to Horseshoe Bend over the weekend. This time we stayed at Lookout Point, which worked out well for our family and two dogs. As usual, Brady has the place well maintained and stocked with firewood. Over the 3 days we saw deer, owls, coyotes, and rooster pheasants. We'll be back later this fall or next spring.

Had a great time tent camping. Very relaxing. We were by the creek in a nice shady spot. At night there were owls and we could here coyotes in the distance. Plenty of room at the sites. Plenty of wood for night time fires. Would definitely go again.

Absolutely love coming here every single time! My dogs have an absolute bath. It was cute hearing the campground filled with laughter and people on a holiday weekend but yet we only saw a few! Very spaced out sites and plenty of beauty ❤️ the free firewood, supplied garbage cans at the sites and personal camp fire grill grates are such huge perks too! Cant wait to come back again and again

This is a gem of a campground. The seasonal campers were all very welcoming of the weekend warriors. Campground support staff were friendly and knowledgeable. They stock the pond and there are some of the biggest frogs I have ever seen. We would definitely camp here again.

Very cool spot. I really enjoyed it. Very rustic and beautiful. The train was a bit much, but I bet you get used to it. I wish I would have known about Willie sooner, my one dog isn't great with other dogs - so that was a bummer. I would have liked to hang with him. Will stay again sometime.
