Beyond the rolling hills of Weston, Idaho lies an expansive wilderness full of camping and outdoor adventure. Crossing over into Utah to the south, Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest beckons with rugged mountain terrain and alpine streams. The Logan Ranger District is closest to Weston, at less than an hour’s drive away. The district’s campgrounds, along with the comforts of cabin rentals in Left Hand Fork Canyon, offer amenities like flush toilets, picnic tables, and drinking water. Summer and fall campers will enjoy the oak, maple, and box elder forests teeming with summer wildflowers or autumn colors. About 90 minutes east of Weston, find Bear Lake State Park. North Beach is a great day-use area, while East Beach is open to campers. Drop in a boat, go out for a swim, or spend the day fishing for Bonneville Cisco—all popular activities at the “Caribbean of the Rockies.” The campground here offers lake views, easy beach access, modern restrooms, and fire rings.
