The property, aptly named the Oasis years ago, is 34-acres of lawns, shade trees, ponds, and natural landscaping over 50 years in the making. The landscaping was started by Tom who still lives in the farmhouse. The Schierman family has owned this property for four generations. The Oasis is located in the rolling hills of the Palouse in eastern Washington State.
The newly created Yonder Hills Disc Golf Course is a private 18 and 9-basket course with long and short pads for almost every basket. A mix of open lawn, wooded fairways, water hazards, and elevation changes. Day, overnight or weekly reservations must be made to enjoy this private course.
The disc golf course is under construction with some layout changes on the last three baskets. It's playable but it isn't perfect yet. We had to shift focus to the barn restoration grant to meet the June 2025 deadline.
This is a perfect basecamp to relax and unwind or be creative. Read in the lawn. Cook over the fire. Explore the Palouse. Disc golf anytime.
Guests may bring their own private fire pits. Firewood is provided for the community fire pit.
Yonder Hills can be reserved for larger group camps and private camping events. There is plenty of room for several vehicles and tailgate camping.
Please contact us to request a reservation for a reunion, wedding, private party, disc golf tournament, or concert.
There are no dedicated electrical hookups, sewage hookups, or potable water available at this time. Bottled or bulk water is available in in St. John five miles away. Electrical outlets in the gravel parking area can be used to charge small devices.
We are constantly upgrading the property, look forward to better amenities as we grow.
St. John has a bar/restaurant, grocery store, hardware stores, gas station, 2 hotel rooms, library, coffee and gift shops as well as a very nice 9-hole traditional golf course. There are numerous small towns, lakes, rivers/creeks, backroads, viewpoints, and historic stops around the Palouse region as well as amazing photography year round. Come for the abundant stars, the fall colors and brisk air, to socialize with other travelers, or to find the peace of the Palouse country.

Dreamy place. Smells like pine trees all day. Beautiful views of the Palouse. Its very well set up. Hot water in the faucet and bathoom. The outside sink was a plus. The table is very big, lots of dry firewood, spacious area, lots of parking, sting lights, the owners were very accomodating, flexible and very welcoming. The kids were very loud and they didn't once come over or say anything.

The hosts greeted us upon arriving and were super friendly. The spot is at their personal residence, and they let us know to ask if we needed anything. The location was super easy to get to and accessible from two directions, so it was easy to get the trailer in and out of. It was also right along the road, which also made it easy to maneuver in and out of. The full hook-ups were really nice to have and we appreciated that we were able to rent it for an odd amount of days. A lot of places want you there for only a couple days or a whole month, and this was rented for someone who is traveling for work, so the length of the stay was kind of up in the air. Over all a good experience.

I hate to leave a good review because I want this place just for myself!!!
This Hip Camp is absolutely incredible! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the beautiful views.
On top of the scenery, the amenities were fantastic. The grounds were clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully laid out. The bathroom and shower were spotless, the site was spacious, and it was clear the host really cares about keeping everything in top condition.
The hosts were extremely friendly and accommodating, going out of their way to make sure our stay was perfect. Their warmth and attention to detail made the experience even more special.
It’s rare to find a place that combines natural beauty with such comfort and convenience, but this spot has it all. We left feeling refreshed and can’t wait to come back — highly recommend to anyone looking for a camping experience that’s both stunning and stress-free!

This site has nice pine trees, which contribute to privacy and a feeling of being in the woods. We easily backed our 30’ fifth wheel into this spacious site. Travis has provided some extremely appreciated amenities, such as a giant picnic table and trash can. This was our second stay here and we greatly enjoyed sitting under the awning eating dinner, listening to the sound of the drizzling rain and pine cones dropping to the ground.

We stayed at Crooks Lookout for the second time, and it was just as wonderful as our first visit. Travis keeps the campsite extremely well maintained, and the setting is peaceful and quiet with plenty of privacy—exactly what we were looking for. His dog, Mater, greeted us warmly and stopped by to visit during our stay, which made the experience even more enjoyable. We also had the pleasure of meeting Travis himself; he’s a genuinely generous and welcoming host. Everything about our stay was top notch, and we’re already looking forward to coming back again!

Doug and his family are wonderful host and respected our privacy. We did purchase the farm fresh free-range eggs, which were also excellent. Roy the lab was also pleasant with morning visits. We were also pleased to see the local wildlife near our camp site, a red fox and a red-tailed hawk. Sunsets and sunrises are amazing here.
The gravel camp pad was clean and level, with water and power pulled out before we arrived which made for a quick easy drop off and hook up. The site is fairly quiet for being close to town.
I am sure we will be back again when we come to visit our family.

was an amazing stay! Travis was super nice and even brought us fresh veggies from their garden when he came up to introduce himself. His pup was the sweetest and gave us a warm welcome too. The shower and toilet were such a luxury to have after days of camping and driving. The spot itself is peaceful, with beautiful views, and you can tell Travis has put a lot of thought into making it comfortable while still feeling like real camping. We’d definitely come back!

Perfect! Beautiful location, friendly host, and very well designed glamping amenities! We had the most easy-going camping experience, and will definitely be back!
We arrived late, and were welcomed by lovely patio lights — made it easy to unpack and setup camp in! The kitchen sink & counter, flushing toilet and hot shower made our whole stay luxurious and easy. Even a garbage can was provided, so we didn’t have to pack our own bags and pack it out. A huge, beautiful picnic table with a view, a fire pit and firewood… this spot made camping simple, easy and beautiful. This was a luxury camp-style.
The highway is right next to camp, but it was pretty quiet at night. I always wear ear plugs, and slept fine. My family slept fine without them, but for light sleepers it might be a good idea to pack some.

Farm life amid suburbia. Renee is a great host and the animals are delightful. The grass is clean and green, not at all a stinky mess. Fresh fruit and eggs were offered and we gratefully enjoyed them!
