The property, aptly named the Oasis years ago, is 34-acres of lawns, shade trees, ponds, and natural landscaping over 50 years in the making. The landscaping was started by Tom who still lives in the farmhouse. The Schierman family has owned this property for four generations. The Oasis is located in the rolling hills of the Palouse in eastern Washington State. The newly created Yonder Hills Disc Golf Course is a private 18 and 9-basket course with long and short pads for almost every basket. A mix of open lawn, wooded fairways, water hazards, and elevation changes. Day, overnight or weekly reservations must be made to enjoy this private course. The disc golf course is under construction with some layout changes and getting readyfor paver tees instead of rubber. It's playable but it isn't perfect yet. We had to shift focus to the barn restoration grant to meet the June 2026 deadline, so fair warning, there is likely to be some construction ongoing. This is a perfect basecamp to relax and unwind or be creative. Read in the lawn. Cook over the fire. Explore the Palouse. Disc golf anytime. Guests may bring their own private fire pits. Firewood is provided for the community fire pit. Yonder Hills can be reserved for larger group camps and private camping events. There is plenty of room for several vehicles and tailgate camping. Please contact us to request a reservation for a reunion, wedding, private party, disc golf tournament, or concert. There are no dedicated electrical hookups, sewage hookups, or potable water available at this time. Bottled or bulk water is available in in St. John five miles away. Electrical outlets can be used to charge small devices. We are constantly upgrading the property, so look forward to better amenities as we grow. St. John has a bar/restaurant, grocery store, hardware stores, gas station, 2 hotel rooms, library, coffee and gift shops as well as a very nice 9-hole traditional golf course. There are numerous small towns, lakes, rivers/creeks, backroads, viewpoints, and historic stops around the Palouse region as well as amazing photography year round. Come for the abundant stars, the fall colors and brisk air, to socialize with other travelers, or to find the peace of the Palouse country.Welcome to Yonder Hills Oasis. When your group books a private group rental, you get access to the landscape and outdoor amenities including use of the disc golf course, spacious lawn camping, and a central fire ring. Depending on weather and seasons, the best campsite possible will be selected by the host. There are several potential group camps but the 2 most notable are Windmill Hill and Circle of Poplars. The lush green Gathering Lawn is reserved for summertime groups. WINDMILL HILL WILLOWS This site is privately located on the other side of a row of willows behind the windmill. It has partly shaded lawn, great views, and perfect sunrise and sunset opportunities. CIRCLE OF POPLARS AND THE SHORT COURSE CAMPING AREA A large, open lawn, a fire ring under tall poplars. Flat, grassy, and spacious enough for tents, canopies, portable tables, and a full group setup. The short course fire ring anchors the area naturally, giving your group a central gathering place for the evenings. Tent camping is permitted here for group bookings. This space works beautifully for any gathering where people want to be outside together on private land without city noise or crowd interference. THE DISC GOLF COURSE Your group gets access to the full course — 18 baskets on the main course, 9 on the short course — spread across 34 acres of Palouse terrain. THE PROPERTY Four generations of the Schierman family have shaped this land. Tom spent decades planting thousands of trees across these hills by hand — the result is a private oasis in the middle of wheat and lentil country that feels genuinely unlike anywhere else in Eastern Washington. Historic barn, rolling hills, big Palouse skies. I'm not sure James (or his father) are cut out for this type of venture. When we arrived he was not there, but he did give vague directions to where he wanted us. We didn't quite understand where he wanted us so we parked ourselves. When he finally showed up (about an hour later) he was put off that we did that. Anyway, blah blah blah. Won't go and you shouldn't either.

He has a very nice disc golf course. He keeps his property well-maintained. Really friendly and helpful. I came to take pictures and he had some very good suggestions on where to go.

My husband and I went with a group of friends over the Memorial Day weekend and James and his Dad from the very beginning were so kind. James responded fast to his messages and greeted us when we got there to tell us where to go. They helped us and gave us good places to visit in the area. The disc golf course was awesome and had amazing views and so peaceful! I highly recommend this site to others!! It will be the best place to go and get away!

The land is gorgeous and feels very secluded. Campsites are spaced apart so that it doesn’t feel crowded at all. We will definitely be coming back here in the future. The communication from James was wonderful and he was extremely friendly and helpful with any questions we had.

The land is beautiful and peaceful. The views are vast. Sunset and early morning were particularly spectacular. The disc golf course was also beautiful and a ton of fun! James, and his dad Tom, are kind, helpful and friendly. A great place to camp!

James was a great host. Quiet setting in the country. We just car camped and spent only are sleeping hours at the site. Is about 30 minutes to Colfax and Steptoe Butte. If you're looking for a campground with bathroom or water this is not the place. They do have a portable potty. But for what we needed, it was great.

Highly recommended. We had a great time and had everything we needed for a few nights here as a base camp while we explored the Palouse. The property is gorgeous. I’ll have to work on my disc golf skills and come back to play the course.

Magical. Like staying with family. Beautiful green fields, the Milky Way, attentive hosts and a bucket of firewood. Advice about local photography spots! I will definitely be back to try disk golf!!

Schierman Springs Palouse View

If you are looking for peace and quiet...Schierman Springs is exactly the place for you! Beautiful, serene and well kept. A pond, games, birds, it was all just so nice. James (host) was very friendly, greeting us with a great smile and lots of info about the property. We will be going back - it was hard to return to traffic, noise, and, well, real life. Schierman Springs Palouse View

This place is an amazing place to camp! Beautiful scenery and extremely private! We experienced some of the best hospitality we have ever come across anywhere! Tom & James, owners & our hosts, were friendly, personable, accommodating, and went above & beyond to make sure we were having a great time and that we had anything we needed. There was even a bowl of fresh vegetables (from Tom's) garden, a giant cooler of fresh spring water, and fresh flowers waiting at our camping spot when we got there. Overall, this place is wonderful. Thank You! We will definitely be back!
