Weekend Trip to Secluded Maple Creek River bottoms

We camped on spot #2. The approach was a little steep. Definitely recommend 4WD. The spot was spectacular with beautiful vegetation and bird song. The rushing creek was our neighbor. Ken enhanced the spot with a fire ring and picnic table with a ground cover. Perfect balance of sun and shade over the day. No one stayed at #1, so we never saw anyone else and skinny dipped in the creek!! Surrounding roads were quiet and made for a lovely ride. Hiking was easy to find nearby. We discovered a great local diner called LD's. We can't wait to go back and explore the area more. Our puppy was enchanted too.

I did car camping with my pup on the property! It was very peaceful and I loved that it felt like we were completely surrounded by nature. The cows were so cute! I had anxiety about getting to the spot without service, but was able to find it rather easy with downloading the map ahead of time and following the signs. Great spot, will stay there again if I'm passing through town!

6 nights at Secluded Maple Creek River bottoms

Tent camping at Site 4 was wonderful. The site is separated from the others by a fairly steep hill that goes up and then back down the other side. We were able to make it multiple times in our AWD Subaru Legacy, but if it had been muddy I’m not sure we could have made it. The outhouse is closer to the other sites, but it’s not a bad walk to get back to it. The site itself was large and had a variety of different birds that we enjoyed watching and listening to. We saw a couple of deer in the site as well. There is access to the creek from the site, but it took us a while to find as the path down is covered with trees and foliage. We were able to harvest fire wood from fallen trees around the site, but Ken also had bundles of wood available to purchase if needed. One thing to note - Site 4 is located behind a property (the same one you turn into from the main road), and it seems that they use site 4 to empty their trucks into. We watched them dump large rocks down the hill and into the site for about an hour. Not sure if this is part of a deal they have with Ken, but they started without any warning and it could have been dangerous if anyone had been standing where the rocks were falling. We had the opportunity to explore the other sites as well, and I would recommend all except maybe site 2 as it had no shade. Site 1 is across the river. Overall it was a very enjoyable and relaxing week at this site, and we are already thinking about when we will be coming back!

We loved staying on Adam’s land. We were by ourselves and the views of the mountains were beautiful! Adam greeted us on arrival and helped us find where to establish camp. I recommend this site to anyone!

I needed this spot last minute. It was easy to book. It was easy to find. It had a great view of the valley and as a single woman I felt very confident staying here. I enjoyed the table and two chairs that were provided but other than that there are no other amenities so as long as you’re OK with that, which I was, you will do great here.

Absolutely beautiful! Not too far from a gas station if you need ice etc. bathroom was close to sites 1-3 and clean. We stayed at #2 and I’d book sites 1 through 3 just for more privacy or if we came with a group. Our dogs loved it, even though for the most part we kept them leashed. Gorgeous at night with the moon and stars. Fast communication from host. T-Mobile worked at the top once of hill once we reached our site. Would stay again!

Beautiful views, birds chirping, cow song, med/low light polution let us see lots of stars. Directions are a bit tricky but there are signs and the road is kept up nice enough for 2WD vehicles or small cars. Some houses within view but was quiet and didn't hamper the experience. Bathroom within walking distance.

We made it to the top site in our AWD Sprinter. It was a dry day and no issues with the road or tree clearance. No problem finding a flat spot to setup. Million dollar views in all directions. Quite a gem of a site.

I remember horseback riding and building a shed for my grandfathers combine. I recently purchased this property from my grandparents and got to work building my tiny home that my new family lives in. National forest is only a few minute drive away along with a handful of reservoirs and river access. Come enjoy the views. These are primitive campsites with no potable water. There are antique farm implements visible on the property.

This property was used by the Shoshone Indian tribe as a summer camp area. Later after the pioneers came they set up a dance floor and had parties here. The dance floor has since overgrown. This property has also been the host to never dams. It has been in our family for many years and we have enjoyed it.Learn more about this land:The campsites are located in a wooded area so lots of shade. 2 sites are creek side along maple creek and the other has a small stream and a pond. All sites have a fire pit available. All sites are carry in carry out. Easily accessible with a four wheel drive. You will need to cross maple creek to reach site 1. The road down to the river bottoms is a bit steep so 4 wheel drive is recommended. This area is ideal for tent camping.

Nestled high in the Rocky Mountains of southeast Idaho at an elevation of 6500 ft, our yurt has magnificent views of Mt. Bonneville and the surrounding Pebble Creek Basin. Along with a handful of neighbors, within a private property recreational area, we are surrounded by the Caribou-Targhee National Forest, with vehicle access from mid-May through mid-November each year. Pebble Yurt has a 30 ft diameter with a partial loft for a total of 900 ft2 of indoor living space. You will be completely off grid, but with running hot and cold water, solar electricity, and heating and cooling features. We also feature an indoor shower, sink, and composting toilet. Bring your ATV's, mountain bikes, or hiking boots to explore the Pebble Basin. Or take a short drive to Lava Hot Springs for world-class hot pools, water slides, or white water rafting. Fishing in the Portneuf River or Chesterfield Reservoir, exploring the Chesterfield historic town site, or trying out a zipline or go-cart are other local activities. Pebble Yurt was built circa 2010 by a retiring forest service employee to the highest standards.
