This is a breathtaking space that our family has poured many decades and multiple generations into. We are surrounded by jungle, with a freshwater stream running through the entire property and unobstructed mountain views. If you’re especially sensitive to mosquitos, bugs, geckos, free roaming chickens or other elements to be expected in nature, this might not be the place for you.
Waimanalo is a small agricultural town filled with nurseries, horse stables, and a high concentration of Hawaiian homes. It remains mostly undeveloped and authentic, and we aim to keep it that way. Outsiders do not often get the opportunity to stay back here, but we welcome respectful travelers looking for an authentic experience who can appreciate this privilege.
While nestled against the mountains, we're just a five minute drive from the beach. We are fifteen minutes from Kailua town, where you'll find several grocery stores, shops, and restaurants.
This is a working farm. While we are very hospitable, we are not in the business of hospitality. I am happy to accommodate travelers, but I am not here at your beck and call. If that is the experience you are seeking, I think you would be happier elsewhere. We appreciate all of your bookings, and profits go directly back into farm infrastructure and new fruit trees. It is an unforgettable drive to get there and the bay is a wonderful place to have a picnic. We are only 1 mile (easily walkable) from the quaint main street of Honomu, HI. This town was established in the sugar cane plantation era and remains today boasting some wonderful gift shops, two restaurants, a coffee house, and the Island's best Zip Line Tours.

We have a hidden exotic fruit orchard tucked away through rolling green hills, perched over the Hamakua cliffs, overlooking the pacific.
We sell our fruits ripe and cut ready to eat at our roadside fruit stand, open 11-6 daily including holidays! We serve local fresh juices and machete open coconuts to drink ice cold.
We grow mango, durian, lilikoi, star fruit, chocolate sapote, buddhas hand citrus, finger limes, tangerines and tangelos, jackfruit, tree grapes, mangosteen, white pineapples, mountain apples, berries, spices and much more. We are home to dozens of rescue animals, many who came from Puna during the 2018 lava flow. We have peaceful sheep, lambs, chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese and a lovable pet pig. Not to mention our friendly farm cats.
Our current camp sites are not in the fruit orchard, but in a rolling hills open pasture land near the fruit stand. It is rustic and pastoral.
We are a community of a few passionate farmers and fruit lovers. There’s a family- myself Rose, my partner Matthew and our daughter Mela, plus several awesome guys and girls who help out in different areas to grow our lives together!

One of the most beautiful places in Hawai`i. We are at the top of a hill in a secluded and secure Homestead farm overlooking Kane`ohe Bay and Mokapu (and the Marine Corps Base) as well as the Pali (cliffs). We are nestled, in a jungle, in the Ko`olau mountain range. We have ocean access from the property (by crossing the road). Nearly are places to get in the water (such as Ka`a`awa and Ku`aloa Beach Park). We are also close to civilization and Kualoa Ranch.
We generally see the stars and the sun and moon rise. We also see the colors of the Bay change with the tides, clouds, wind, light.
We are focused on education about Hawai`i, being kind to animals (and all life, including humans), and we are privileged to be able to share our aloha as well as farm bounty. We grow chili peppers, ulu (breadfruit), kalo (taro), noni, vegetables, bananas, olena (turmeric), ginger, etc.
Not pictured is the common kitchen area.
We have access to Reiki, massage, and other types of services. We have kayaks, surfboards, general snorkel and beach gear, SUPs, and connections to local businesses for other opportunities (e.g., horseback riding, sailing, rowing, etc.).
There are surfing, kayaking, swimming, snorkeling, scuba, horseback riding, and hiking options nearby. We are also conveniently near a mall and many great places to eat. It is also lovely to hang out here at the farm and enjoy the peace, away from concrete and traffic congestion. There are places to explore and a steep climb one can hike to get to the edge of the property where there are many and even more spectacular views.
We are a real homestead and aspiring organic farm focused on Hawaiian Heritage plants and a Sanctuary for animals. We have many Native Hawaiian plants, superfoods, and culturally important plants. We also have Bucket and Scream (our goats), Venus, Zenith, and Sweetie (farm cats), Ipo (Australian Shepard farm dog), turkeys (Royal Palms), and a bunch of chickens.
It is possible to get around in the near area, and on and off the property, on The Bus. The Bus stop is down a hill about 5 minutes away.
We are always involved in community and local food, so let us know your interests. & let us know if you want to plant plants, weed bad grass, attend a cacao ceremony, or donate to a good cause.

When coming from the south, turn left toward the mountain immediately before the long Hauula Beach park bridge or when coming from the north turn right immediately toward the mountain just after the long park bridge into my dirt driveway. You will have the small river on your righthand side as you drive in.

For guests unfamiliar with the Big Island, it is not like the other islands people travel to. If Oahu is more Americanized, the Big Island is still more of a Polynesian Island. Our property allows guests to enjoy a genuine local experience.
The cabins have power and endless hot water. All water on property is rainwater harvested from our roof!
At night your ears will be greeted by the forest with sounds of coqui frogs. Many people love them 🐸 Please search for Bathing Suits and Rain Boots on YouTube to find a video of what our property sounds like at night. Our channel also features videos of tours we offer. More to be uploaded, check back often! Our tours include off the beaten path adventures ranging from sunrises and geothermal Kings baths, to prawn hunting to hikes that lead to waterfalls! They are all local gems that you will not find online or offered by any other tour guide agency. We are updating our ig @bathingsuitsandrainboots regularly with footage from adventures as well!
Beach gear such as surf boards, boogie boards and snorkel gear is also available. There is a detailed welcome packet with a variety of mostly free but some paid must see/do activities on the island!
There are a total of 4 cabins on the one acre lot. The owners are on property, other guests may or may not be here as well. There is a dog Valentine, two outdoor cats named Ghost and Tomi, and chickens/ducks.
Each cabin has a queen mattress. We rent both cabins out for larger groups.
Jungle massages are available on site starting at $100 for the hour.

We are at 1880ft elevation so it can get chilly at night. Winters are also rainy season so if traveling to the Big Island in the winter, I suggest some light layers for warmth, a raincoat and rain boots.

Waipi'o Lodge and Campsite is located in Kukuihaele less than a mile from majestic Waipiʻo Valley. In a place where horses and wild turkeys often wander by, this is the old Hawaiʻi. A place where neighbors stop to talk and life is sweet as the smell of sugar cane grass. You'll enjoy a wonderful ocean view and the many fruit and macadamia nut trees on the property. We usually have perfect weather- sunshine, blue skies, a nice breeze, with temperatures in the high 70's.
The campsite is part of the Waipi'o Lodge, which has three bedrooms and a common space living room. Our camping guests are welcome to use the outside kitchen, covered lanai, and Lodge bathroom. We also have high speed Wi-Fi.
Our guests tend to be excellent company, usually visiting from Europe, the US Mainland, Australia and beyond. Many use our place as a launching point for hiking in Waipi'o Valley or backpacking trips into Waimanu Valley.

7 nights at Farm to Table Hawaii
This could not have been a more perfect stay for my time on Big Island. Justine was so kind, thoughtful, and attentive to the reason for my trip to Hawaii. I was there to integrate the loss of my two pups, and with a grieving heart I felt so incredibly loved and taken care of by Justine. Her land is stunning and felt blessed to have permission to eat some bananas, try different foods, and have the option for fresh coconut from the property. I enjoyed learning about the life she’s created for herself as it was an absolute inspiration for me; knowing I too can create the same thing for myself. Communication and connection with her was effortless, and even bonded over a small issue with my rental LOL, girl power! One of my favorite things was the outdoor shower; LOVED being amongst the nature, wild and free. The bed was super comfy too. The comfort of the bed when traveling is a huge must; rest is important to me when I’m away from home. Yes, you will hear the frogs at night and will be woken up to the beautiful sound of roosters and birds in the morning (no sarcasm, I truly enjoyed nature’s alarm like and being witness to the cyclical aspects of nature). It’s not for everyone, yet if you know you have trouble sleeping don’t let that detour you from staying here. Come prepared; I know I don’t sleep well in general, any time I travel I bring ear plugs and my sound machine. Simple solutions. I loved staying in the Oahu bell tent at Sun Farm. This was my second time staying there, and it was even better the second time. It’s peaceful and feels safe and comfortable. The farm cats and dog are sweet and friendly, and the people working there kind and helpful. I will definitely be back!

Had the best few nights staying at this beautiful farm. Hosts were great and the land is stunning. The cedar cabin was really cozy and waking up to the views was a magical part of our trip! The banana tree shower was my favorite. Lots of fruits and medicinal plants growing too! Will definitely be visiting again

Mae is precious! She was such a gracious host and she really has a special piece of land. Camp here if you want to feel safe and want a beautiful piece of land to stay on. We rebooked a second night because of how comfortable we felt there. Also bathroom/shower was so nice and the doggo was a great plus :) we will be back! Great vibes!

The campsites feature jaw-dropping views of the mountains & foliage on this gorgeous farm, with an abundance of wildlife, including birds, chickens, and pigs.
Waking up to astonishing sunrises and the music of so many birds felt otherworldly! The air smelled fresh and clean, a truly incredible place to be a part of nature.
The bathroom and shower are so cute and open to air, very clean & private, with plenty of hot water. The most adorable geckos occasionally take refuge here, and we saw a really cool snail too.
They also provide a nice dishwashing sink, and a comfy covered patio, with tables and electrical outlets that we used for charging phones.
The hosts are fantastically kind, responsive, and accommodating. This stay was a huge part of what made our trip so wonderful, 100% will stay here on our next trip back!!!

The farm is so beautiful with fruit trees and you can see the ocean in the distance. We loved staying in the cedar cabin with its really comfy bed and great cedar smell. The outdoor shower is the best! And getting to pick our own papayas and bananas was so fun and delicious. The staff are really friendly and accessible. Location was excellent for getting to the north shore and Haleiwa is a really sweet area.

1 night at Skyes Treehouses
This treehouse was a magical jungle DREAM! There are windows everywhere, allowing tons of natural light in as well as lovely views of the forest/greenery all around. If you want to sleep in, bring an eye mask because the bedroom is at the top of the treehouse and gets bright early (wasn’t a problem for us because we were getting up early anyway so waking up naturally to the morning light was nice). At night the frogs are loud but we enjoyed falling asleep to them. Everything about the bed is AMAZING—the mattress, pillows, and bedding are all wonderful. The vibe of the treehouse is so cozy and peaceful. We wish we could’ve stayed more than one night. It is a bit expensive but once you get there, you’ll see why. Absolutely book this place.
(The ONLY issue we had was initially finding the place. The directions say to look for a gazebo but there is definitely no gazebo. There’s a little carport out front but since we were looking for a gazebo we didn’t think we were art the right place.)

Convenient location to the north shore. Easy to find if you follow Michael's instructions, right off the main road. He offered us a more secluded spot on the back of the property if noise from the cars would bother us, but we were fine closer to the road.

Mae has her own piece of paradise! Mae was a very kind and accommodating host. She made sure our stay was very comfortable, was willing to answer all my questions before booking, and has a very comfortable camping spot with lots of space, a covered area protected from the rain, and great firewood. My friends and I had a wonderful weekend on her property and hope to visit again on day! Thanks Mae!

Mae was a lovely host and made sure we had everything we needed! The bathroom/shower house is clean and well stocked, and it was worth every penny to have a fire to relax around in camp. Got some dog fix petting Nobs the farm doggo. Easy to find, flat campsites, 10/10 would definitely stay again!

The view is breathhtaking both from the site and the shower. The farm is beautiful, loved the hassle free check-in, but definitely make your first visit in the daylight, stayed our first night on the island there and loved it so much we came back for the last. The view from the site is the wallpaper on my phone now!
