As this is agricultural lands, there are many critters. Dogs, chickens, pheasants, peacock, mongoose, and many birds. Tge invasive coqui frog is annoying to some and calming to others.
The micro climate here swings from warm and dry to wet quickly. Best to always prepare for rain.
There is snorkeling, beaches, local food, Cafe, BBQ, poke, fish-n-chips, grocery, Sunday farmers market and hiking nearby.
It is peaceful here, but also an active farming community.
As an organic farm, we put alot of effort into soil building and as such, there are soft places that will be damaged by the weight of a vehicle. Staying on the driveway is best. We will guide you to where you need to go.
Our road is paved, but bumpy. Any vehicle will make it without damage if driven slowly. 1 to 4mph tops. *Be sure to avoid the camper rental companies that restrict certain roads.

When coming from the south, turn left toward the mountain immediately before the long Hauula Beach park bridge or when coming from the north turn right immediately toward the mountain just after the long park bridge into my dirt driveway. You will have the small river on your righthand side as you drive in.

As this is agricultural lands, there are many critters. Dogs, chickens, pheasants, peacock, mongoose, and many birds. Tge invasive coqui frog is annoying to some and calming to others.
The micro climate here swings from warm and dry to wet quickly. Best to always prepare for rain.
There is snorkeling, beaches, local food, Cafe, BBQ, poke, fish-n-chips, grocery, Sunday farmers market and hiking nearby.
It is peaceful here, but also an active farming community.
As an organic farm, we put alot of effort into soil building and as such, there are soft places that will be damaged by the weight of a vehicle. Staying on the driveway is best. We will guide you to where you need to go.
Our road is paved, but bumpy. Any vehicle will make it without damage if driven slowly. 1 to 4mph tops. *Be sure to avoid the camper rental companies that restrict certain roads.

We have two RV/tent campsites available. If you are bringing an RV, we can accommodate vehicles up to 45ft in length. No hookups are available at this time, the sites are flat.

Kokololio Beach Park is a 2-minute drive from the site. Hau'ula Loop Trail is only 4 minutes away. Kokololio Beach is a nice stretch of sand and during the summer months, swimming is possible.
When coming from the south, turn left toward the mountain immediately before the long Hauula Beach park bridge or when coming from the north turn right immediately toward the mountain just after the long park bridge into my dirt driveway. You will have the small river on your righthand side as you drive in.

This spot is a must-see! It truly is a private oasis nestled in an accessible residential area. The amenities that David supplies are above and beyond! The bathroom and shower were very clean and comfortable, the outdoor kitchen space and BBQ were very useful and the property itself is stunning. We genuinely wished he had booked more days at this campsite as it was the perfect way to soak up some beach time with no crowds. We highly recommend staying here!

Dave and his wife are quite lovely! Their little dog is adorable and sweet as well.
Dave's instructions for arrival worked great. We loved this little gem! There's a lot of thought & consideration for guests. The motion lights for the campsite & bath accommodations were a nice touch, too.
My only complaint is not getting to spend more time enjoying the beach. But that's not the owners fault. Next time, we'll stay more than one night!

As per other reviews, this place is great. Peaceful and quiet. There were some wild pigs rummaging about at night but they weren't too disturbing and when we caught sight of them in the day we were excited to see them. The porta potty was fine. The campsites flat. Good all around.

This was a great spot to camp out of our car! Kristian was super helpful and took great care of us. It’s a beautiful spot with relatively little light pollution for stargazing, and the fire pit is marvelous in the evening.
Be better than us and come prepared to pack out any trash you generate— we completely forgot to bring a bag, but the workers were kind enough to take care of it for us.

My partner and I had a great time at Sun Farm. It’s a beautiful space and the yurt is very cozy.
I would recommend renting a vehicle as it’s a bit away from the towns and beaches. But with vehicle access the location is wonderfully removed yet accessible to everything.
The roosters make a lot of noise in the morning but personally we did not mind it. The connection to nature was lovely, and it helps you wake up early to make the most of your day.
The bathrooms were kept clean. I had access to another living space during my stay where I took showers, only trying the campgrounds showers once. It may have been my own user error but the water did not get hot. That would be my main warning.
Otherwise the space is beautiful, clean and overall would highly recommend it for a short term stay.

This place was amazing!! I wish I could have stayed longer. The view was unbelievable, it stretched out for so long and was just stunning. The stars and the sound of the frogs at night were so beautiful and soothed us to sleep.
The site itself was very well maintained, with a mosquito net that kept out bugs and made the bed feel extra cozy. The bathroom is a little bit of a walk, but well worth it for the convenience of a clean toilet and sink and a hot outdoor shower! There was even a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker!
This site is in a great location and felt super secure, with two gates to get onto the property and latches on the doors. It’s just a few minutes away from some super cute cafes and shops, and Akaka falls is also nearby. We were also delighted to see the resident donkeys and cats :). Overall, this place is incredible and I would definitely recommend staying here if you’re looking for a place close to Hilo!

Wow! Easily the best hipcamp I have been to. Directions provided were easy to follow, even after sunset. The accomodation was so cozy and the view was amazing. The outdoor shower and shared bathroom area was so cute and clean! It was amazing to have a hot outdoor shower at night and stare at the stars at the same time. I also loved all the animals we saw in the area, including but not limited to cats and donkeys on-site.

This was my second HipCamp stay for my week-long adventure on Oahu. I really loved my stay here. I was the only one staying at the time, and it was perfect for me being a single person traveling alone. I felt very comfortable and safe. The amenities were good, and this place is situated close to Kailua Ranch and many spots to stop along the way to swim, surf, or picnic. The North Shore is also another place that was somewhat close and very enjoyable. Michael responded in a timely manner, was really nice, and showed me around property. When I’m back in the area I definitely will be staying there again soon.

5 nights at Hamakua Guesthouse
Hamakua House gave us a very genuine feeling taste of the Hawaiian aloha experience. I'm not going to lie, it started tough, as we arrived to our Cabana just as the skies opened with a torment of wind and rain, which quickly made it clear that the aging tent enclosure system for our Cabana could no longer keep the elements out. However, this dismaying set of circumstances was greeted by immediate, kind and resourceful response from the managers on staff, with special thanks to Lisa and Morgan who really took us under their wing. The following 5 days we spent using Hamakua House as our base filled with fun adventures, many of them sparked from conversation and recommendations from among staff and fellow guests. The community at this place is so beautiful: a lovely aura of sharing food and stories, along with vulnerabilities and magic. I'm very appreciative to the owner for providing the affordable and to my mind far superior way of experiencing Hawaii through glamping as opposed to some disconnected condo. Mahalo to Hamakua House for sharing the Breath of God with us.

The toilet is nothing for picky girls but was near the ground. Go at night and your fine 😉
