3 nights at The Tranquil Homestead

This was such an amazing experience! It felt so private, yet only a 30 minute drive from Hilo and just a short distance to the main entrance of the park. Cozy and the cool evening weather made it feel like camping, but without the hassle of setting everything up. The bed was seriously the most comfortable bed I’ve been in while traveling. Kitchen was great and enough to cook basic meals. Esther and Christopher were such gracious and attentive hosts. We were able to do laundry and check out some of the highlights of things to do that they recommended. The ducks and peacocks were a treat to see in the mornings and feed. Great value for the price. As stated in the listing, bring your own drinking water (we picked up a large jug from the store). It was surprisingly cool at night, which was a welcome treat from the heat and humidity during the day as we traveled. Enough cell service but we didn’t use the internet provided. Laundry takes about an hour and 45 minutes on the property, and you’ll arrange a time to use the machines (but they have soap and dryer sheets.)

2 nights at The Tranquil Homestead

We loved every bit of Christopher and Esther’s place! We thought about camping but are so glad we stayed here. The cabin is dialed in, with thoughtful features throughout. The hosts are as thoughtful as any we’ve ever had on Hipcamp or AirBnb. A perfect blend of friendly but giving lots of privacy. It was about 25 minutes to Hawaii Volcanos NP, close enough to make a late dash to see the lava! Highly recommended place to stay.

The communal picnic table is the spot to read books, draw tarot cards, create art, and chat at your leisure.

1 night at Camp South Pt Green/Blacksand Beach

We spent one night on Bob’s beautiful property and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The place was very peaceful, we felt completely safe, and having a bathroom with a shower was a big plus. Bob and his wife were wonderful hosts. They even picked a fresh orange for us from their tree and gave us so many great tips for our stay on the Big Island. Without Bob’s prediction, we probably would have missed the incredible volcano eruption. Thank you— you truly made our time on the Big Island something very special.

Weekend Trip to 🌈 Rainbow’s End Farm & Homestead!

We enjoyed our comfy bed and deck perch in the jungle. The open kitchen was lovely to cook in. Wendy was away, but communication was excellent, and the caretakers were available, helpful and welcoming. We were driving a Honda Fit with very low clearance, so we drove the rocky road VERY slowly, and planned to come and go only once a day (we spent two nights). I would stay there again for sure, but only if I had a vehicle with higher clearance.

Excellent tent camping site: quiet, secure, tables, power outlet, kettle, etc. Justine is a wonderful host as well: responsive, friendly, welcoming, lots of positive energy, and willing to share her extensive knowledge of local attractions. We also greatly enjoyed her farm to table dinner.

1 night at IO's NEST LOOKOUT on the Hamakua

We loved Krystle's IO's Nest! It was comfortable, adorable, and atop a hill with spectacular views of the hillside looking down to the ocean from the spacious deck. The sunrise was incredible! The private outdoor shower was amazing and had mood lights, soap/shampoo, and flowers peaking under the bottom of the walls. It was an easy 20 minute walk to Akaka Falls, and there was a fruit stand just outside the first gate where we bought star fruit and coconut from the neighbor. The place was easy to find, and Krystle was an excellent host. She answered all our questions promptly, and made us feel welcome and comfortable. The Nest had electricity, cell service, wifi, an electric kettle and tea, coffee maker with coffee and filters, and a large charging station with USB and AC outlets. There was also a covered parking area right next to the Nest for our motorcycles. We would definitely stay here again!

Gorgeous camping surrounded by fruit and avocado trees and the hot tub was so relaxing after a long day. The host was very generous and so nice. There are several dogs on the property but they are sweet and well-behaved.

I loved treehouse living at Rainbow’s End. This is my happy place! Waking up to birds talking, surrounded by greenery and trees, in a (very) comfortable bed (with mosquito net) is one of my very favorite things. Super relaxing, great getaway. I will definitely be back! Thank you! ♥️🌈

Weekend Trip to 🌈 Rainbow’s End Farm & Homestead!

We loved staying at Wendy’s! She was an incredibly generous host and communicated really well. As soon as we landed in Kona, she let us know that a volcano was fountaining, told us to head straight there, and had no issues with our late check-in as a result! Literally a once in a lifetime opportunity we would have missed if not for Wendy. The space itself was beautiful. Wendy’s property is gorgeous and she gave us a lovely tour of all the fruit trees she’s planted. The little cabin we stayed in was cozy and we loved having breakfast out in the deck. If we’re ever in the area again, we’d stay at Wendy’s in a heartbeat.

We booked this room to extend our trip, and it was perfect. The space was both spacious and cozy, with thoughtful touches like a fridge and toaster oven that made our stay extra comfortable. The view from the room was incredible — a beautiful breeze and scenery we could’ve enjoyed for hours. Our host was truly the best. Weekend Trip to Moon Garden Getaway

Me and my sister decided to camp around the Big Island for a week instead of a hotel. We were very excited to arrive at Mae’s campsite and she was an amazing host. Her place was very easy to find with her instructions and she greeted us upon arrival. She showed us around the place and provided a book of recommendations for local places. She also offered us fruit off of her farm and there were a few fun games there. The campsite is beautiful and she had a very nice dog that was fun to hang out with. Overall 10/10.

Weekend Trip to Hamakua Guesthouse

This is our second time at Hamakua House (last time 8 years ago) - we love the vibe and the caretakers are really nice and generous. A bit rustic, as expected for hammock cabanas, but very cute. A short drive to Hilo and beautiful countryside location. We would stay again (hopefully sooner than 8 years!)

We had such an amazing experience here! The sunset views alone made this stay unforgettable — truly some of the most beautiful we’ve ever seen. Our host went above and beyond, from sharing wonderful local recommendations to graciously allowing us to extend our stay when we weren’t ready to leave. The property was peaceful, well cared for, and perfect for unwinding. We loved having a place to dry our towels and swimsuits after long days outside, and the fresh tangelo from the garden was such a special touch. You can really tell how much care and intention goes into making guests feel welcome here. We’re already talking about coming back. Highly, highly recommend this stay!

Amazing camping experience! Mae is a great host and we loved the place and its amenities. Definitely would come back. Great location nearby the Volcanos National Park.
