We have walking trails, a pond where you can kayak, relax on the dock, or feed the huge fish (sorry no fishing allowed.) Also, on our property, there are swings, a tree house deck, obstacle course, fire pit area, wooden bridge, picnic table, and abundant bird life. There's also plenty of wide-open space where you can play frisbee, run, do yoga, and stargaze at night.
There's plenty to do in this area, using the farm as your base. Claxton, our hometown, is a great friendly, small-town with grocery and hardware stores and restaurants. Many guests like to side-trip over to the towns of Statesboro, Metter, Vidalia, and Savannah, plus the Golden Isles.

The Neature Preserve (formerly known as "Tabby's Trees") consists of 74 acres made up mostly of pine forest situated in the coastal plain. A creek runs along the western boundary of the property with an ephemeral (seasonal) wetland to the southwest. The overstory of the forest is dominated by loblolly and slash pine with a few longleaf pine sprinkled in, as well as turkey oak, live oak, laurel oak, and sweetgum. We have ~1.5 miles of trails that wind through a variety of ecosystems (trails can hiked or biked). The property has three primitive camping sites. Two of the sites are for tent camping only (where you would park your car along the hiking trail and then follow a separate path to get to the campsite), with one site that has enough space to park multiple cars or small camper right at the campsite.
The Neature Preserve is all about restoring native habitat! Prescribed fire is used at The Preserve to safely and efficiently restore and maintain productive ecosystems and to support our native plant and animal species. My cousin loved to fish and purchased 100 acres of land here 50 years ago. I wound up with this part of the property which is now surrounded by Big Hammock wildlife management area. For the past 47 years I’ve gone here to enjoy the river. The Ohoopee river splits here on the opposite bank and forms a 100 acre island before flowing into the nearby Altamaha river. Usually the river flow slows and kayaking around the island is pretty easy. There is a lot of wildlife to see here with white tail deer, turkey, waterfowl, beavers, otters, feral hogs and predators. The island is a favorite roost for every species of birds. During dry periods, the Ohoopee river water gets very clear with visibility greater than 6’ at times.

This place was the perfect spot to get away for a few days. We visited Statesboro and the George L. Smith state park, which were under 30 minutes away! The camp grounds were very well kept and clean. There was a nice sized pond and dog park. The host was very sweet and helpful. We definitely plan on returning.

Very accommodating hosts and owner. Full hook up right next to a lake, walk out the camper and fish under the massive cypress trees.
They have full hook ups, laundry, playground and dog park. On the weekends there is a restaurant operating. It’s very quiet and peaceful.

Employees were friendly. bathrooms and laundry rooms are clean and neat and serviced daily. “Rec room” was clean but boasts a ping pong table which has no unbroken ping pong paddles. And a pool table that you need to ask for lock code to unlock the pool sticks. And you need to pay an additional fee to get access to the rec room. I’ve is available for purchase at office. Lake is wonderful and there is a large dog fenced area for turning your dog loose. We enjoyed our stay enough we extended it by another wk!

I loved tent camping here! Me, a buddy, and my doggo camped under the trees here for 2 nights. The place is great and well taken care of and the host Lorine was a dream Super Host! She let us use her spring water to top off our containers, sprayed the grounds with anti-bug spray, and checked on us occasionally to make sure we needed anything while also giving us a tour of her grounds! Loved sharing stories with you Lorine! Will definitely be back here again.

We had a lovely time camping at Lorie’s place! It was a short stay, but the land is beautiful, quiet, and full of wildlife. Lorie is an excellent host and made sure we had everything we needed and more. Can’t wait to stay here again!

Nice primitive camp site. There was some traffic noise but not distracting and there is still storm damage to the trails. Mary was welcoming and helpful. Overall an enjoyable camp.
