The Neature Preserve (formerly known as "Tabby's Trees") consists of 74 acres made up mostly of pine forest situated in the coastal plain. A creek runs along the western boundary of the property with an ephemeral (seasonal) wetland to the southwest. The overstory of the forest is dominated by loblolly and slash pine with a few longleaf pine sprinkled in, as well as turkey oak, live oak, laurel oak, and sweetgum. We have ~1.5 miles of trails that wind through a variety of ecosystems (trails can hiked or biked). The property has three primitive camping sites. Two of the sites are for tent camping only (where you would park your car along the hiking trail and then follow a separate path to get to the campsite), with one site that has enough space to park multiple cars or small camper right at the campsite.
The Neature Preserve is all about restoring native habitat! Prescribed fire is used at The Preserve to safely and efficiently restore and maintain productive ecosystems and to support our native plant and animal species. We knew our property was a special place when we found it during our search when we decided to move our alpaca farm from FL to GA. We have raised alpaca for last 17 years. They are a fiber producing animal (similar to sheep) as well as just a beautiful animal, have great personalities and it is amazing to watch the herd dynamics. We have 2 very spoiled donkeys (sister and brother-gelded) - have had them for about 18 years. We are committed to provide the best care possible for our animals and love to educate people about alpacas (and donkeys). There is a large covered deck overlooking the alpaca pastures - come hang out with them. We have a farm store onsite with various items for sale made out of the alpaca fiber (socks, scarves, sweaters, hats, plushies, etc). As part of your stay, we provide a short alpaca farm tour!
There is a 2 acre pond on our property which is adjacent to the campsite area separated by a fence. The campsite area is located away from our main house and the alpaca barn. My cousin loved to fish and purchased 100 acres of land here 50 years ago. I wound up with this part of the property which is now surrounded by Big Hammock wildlife management area. For the past 47 years I’ve gone here to enjoy the river. The Ohoopee river splits here on the opposite bank and forms a 100 acre island before flowing into the nearby Altamaha river. Usually the river flow slows and kayaking around the island is pretty easy. There is a lot of wildlife to see here with white tail deer, turkey, waterfowl, beavers, otters, feral hogs and predators. The island is a favorite roost for every species of birds. During dry periods, the Ohoopee river water gets very clear with visibility greater than 6’ at times.

One of the best Hipcamps out there! Mike and Karen are very welcoming, very receptive to all our questions and made sure we had everything we needed to be comfortable. Their property is beautiful! They have put a lot of heart and soul into ensuring that your visit is one of a kind, with walking trails, a pond with fish to feed, hammocks, and many sitting areas to relax and take in the sights and sounds of nature. There was plenty of room for our 40’ Class A and toad. Our stay was extremely peaceful, serene and relaxing and we will definitely be back to visit again! Highly recommended!

I enjoyed my overnight stay by the lake. The next morning I learned so much about alpacas and llamas. The farm is gated and locked. Even though it was after dark when I arrived, their hospitality was in full display. I also bought some super soft hiking socks, and bought a scarf and a pair of gloves for my friends at the farm store. I'll be staying here again!

This was our 2nd time there and Durand met us as we arrived and assisted my backing into the spot. This place is a working farm and it's neat, clean, landscaped, and scenic. Our site was ready when we got there and we loved the horses (bring carrots and apples), loved the peace and quiet, and the night sky.

Property is easy to access and very clean. The hosts are so nice— we will def be visiting again. Very convenient when we visit our kiddo at GA southern. Bonus on a clear night the stars are amazing out there!

Exactly as advertised! Durand met us at the driveway, which is long and a bit narrow at a curve, but we had no problem with our 36' motorhome AND our towed F-150. He guided me as I backed into the spot next to the barn and horse field. Full hookup spot. Quiet place as we sat around the fire pit. Friendly horses who loved watermellon... Easy in and out of Statesboro and a great night sky view too! We will be back! Durand and Brooke were excellent hosts!

Very accommodating hosts and owner. Full hook up right next to a lake, walk out the camper and fish under the massive cypress trees.
They have full hook ups, laundry, playground and dog park. On the weekends there is a restaurant operating. It’s very quiet and peaceful.

I loved the livestock right outside the site. Beautiful and well maintained. All the amenities we needed and Dwayne was so super. Waiting for our delayed arrival.

Jessica and Scott were amazing hosts. Lots of wildlife to see as well as chickens and some loving dogs. WiFi was very fast. They also had a nice bathroom with a hot shower. The city of Dublin was cute with lots of different restaurants.

Dwayne is a great host he went out of his way to make sure we got to our site even when we didn’t arrive until 9pm. We awoke in the morning to peaceful surroundings with goats , cows , horses and a few mules in the next field over along with the sounds of peacocks in the distance. Heavenly peace 🙏🙏

I loved tent camping here! Me, a buddy, and my doggo camped under the trees here for 2 nights. The place is great and well taken care of and the host Lorine was a dream Super Host! She let us use her spring water to top off our containers, sprayed the grounds with anti-bug spray, and checked on us occasionally to make sure we needed anything while also giving us a tour of her grounds! Loved sharing stories with you Lorine! Will definitely be back here again.
