Call us bias, but there’s nothing better than small town life. When the "blue roof cottage by the tracks" (yes, it used to have a unique blue roof) hit the market in early 2021, we knew it had to be ours! We purchased it & flipped it into a vacation home for guests of Folkston .. and The Conductor's Corner was born. We showed up at Deep Bend Landing for just a nights stay while passing through. Passing through sounds interesting in this area because this campground is waaaaay back in the country, but my wife and I are photographers—having a hobby side with abandonment, etc. There’s plenty of this genre in the deep country of Georgia.
Even though I didn’t get the notifications, Ron worked hard to contact us so we would not be lost when we got there. Meeting with a smile and handshake, he showed us to our location and offered any answers to questions we had.
A little about the campground. This is a no frills location. While that does not appeal to some, it’s an absolutely dreamboat to people like my wife and I. The area was so peaceful and the campground was extremely quiet and peaceful—despite having multiple spots filled. The sites were spacious with lots of shade. This is the PERFECT campground for people who just want time in nature—camping. While we were just passing through this time, we’ve discussed returning on another date to possibly stay for a few days and comb the area for photography treasures.

My bestie has stayed here a few times and loves it. We were looking for a stop halfway way through are drive home and I suggested it. He wanted to make sure i understood it was not going to be quiet, I had purchased ear plugs for this stop. The grounds were clean and well maintained. Yes there were trains that went by but honestly it did not affect my sleep. It was really neat to experience it and I would definitely return.

Some of the highlights of this hip camp were picnic tables, fire rings, firewood on site, CLEAN portolet, and it’s dark and quiet nature. This was a last minute reservation because our planned hip camp canceled at the last minute (day prior). Unfortunately this left us one hour north of our desired location (St Mary’s/ Cumberland Is NS)

If someone asked me what an idyllic spot to park my camper looked like, I would say someplace quiet, where I can see all the stars in the sky, nothing but nature out my front door, and maybe the occasional train horn in the distance to remind me that civilization still exists. That's Ron and Sue's property, Camp Z. I spent the week, but I could've stayed a month. If you're heading north or south through Georgia, make sure you make your way to Folkston to find Camp Z. You'll be rewarded with peach, quiet and tranquility. Idyllic!

Destination Sunset was all that we expected and more. We stayed 5 nights with a 32’ camper. The large cement pad gave us room to set up the camper and really stretch out for outdoor movies, relaxing, and enjoying the view.
The lot is secure where we felt safe to let our 3 mini-schnauzers roam and explore without losing sight of them.
They had plenty of room to run and play. The host was very kind and helpful. There was firewood already split for us to use for a small additional fee.
The lot was easy to find and absolutely beautiful. There are mature trees with Spanish moss hanging everywhere. There is plenty of shade. String lights and a security light provide just the right amount of light once the sun goes down.
This was by far the nicest site we have ever stayed at. The sunsets are breathtaking. The Adirondack chairs around the fire pit is the perfect place to watch the sky light up over the water. We had a great vacation and will definitely stay here again in the future.

What an amazing camping spot! Better than we even expected and we’ve already booked our next trip. Many more visits to come! Super easy to find as well.
The space was great, full hook up for the camper was great, the fenced in acre yard for the pups was great, the views are incredible, ability to fish, paddle board, relax on the dock, launch a boat if you have one or use the canoe and kayaks they have! The peaceful mornings, days and nights by the campfire plus firewood access. Literally everything was wonderful. I can’t say enough good things!
To top it off, Tim and his wife were very kind, accommodating and helpful in every way needed. There’s also access to a Publix and other shopping that’s not too far away if needed. This will be our regular camping spot. Keep in mind..the pictures in my review aren’t filtered. The views were just this perfect! Thanks again for everything Tim! We can’t wait to come back!

Couldn’t ask for a better campsite! A true gem of a hipcamp - Private lot in a lovely quiet neighborhood right on the water. Level concrete parking pad, full hookups, incredible view, fantastic fishing, insane wildlife, and even a ridiculously friendly neighborhood cat. We had many dolphin sightings, caught whiting and red drum from the dock, and even were shocked by a river otter one evening while we were enjoying the stunning sunset. To top it all off, the host Tim was so kind and welcoming. Do yourself a favor and book!!

Only stayed one night, but it was perfect. The property was spotlessly clean, (especially the portapot), very private, and wonderfully quiet. Highly recommend buying the excellent firewood—burns great and made the stay even cozier. Would definitely return!
