There’s a creek with a Beaver dam near the sites and up the road, there’s a pond you can see when you’re coming in to the sites. The small town of Crawford has a very nice pizza place called Crawford pizza, which has other stuff as well. Also, Crawford laundry is right there for your laundry needs. The microfarm is complete with D.I.Y. designs; fruit trees, raised beds, composting bins, a bat house, water-catchment barrels, a fruit/vegetable sun-dryer, and a 11-by-40-foot greenhouse. It's our home and humble work in progress community vision. Currently in residence are our domestic and farm cats, some of whom you may meet during your stay. Every step of Communitowhee’s growth has been taken with deep thought and consideration for the health and history of its land. Each infrastructure design has been and will continue to be built from sustainable, up and recycled materials to minimize environmental impact. We loved our weekend at the Lizard Sniffer Ranch!! We stayed at the Wilbur site. This horse farm is a little slice of heaven. Although we camped, they also have cabins available. Beautiful property and clean camp site with power and water.. We came into town for a GA game (go dawgs!) and it was the perfect peaceful getaway for the weekend. It took us about 25 minutes to get to the game (with Athens traffic). Teens loved feeding the goats and seeing all the other animals. Our hosts were gracious and friendly as well. So much better than staying in a crowded, overpriced hotel. We’ll be back!

This is a great place to stay near Athens . It's only 10mi from the stadium, travel time depends on traffic. It's just far enough away to be quite and restful but close enough to all that Athens has to offer. It's off the road and easy to get to. Wide hard pack gravel driveway. Lots are easy to get to. Ashley was very attentive and communicated well for our stay.
