The farm was once a portion of the McTureus Plantation.  Tony's family members were once enslaved on the plantation. Upon Emancipation a family member bought land and it remained in the family.  Tony is a descendant of those family members whose foresight allowed us to be here today.  Tony's parents entrusted the care and preservation of the property to us and we are doing our best to be good stewards and teach the value of this property to our children and young grandchildren.

Helena Hills Farm

4. Helena Hills Farm

14mi from Savannah · 2 sites · Tents, RVs
Welcome to Helena Hills Farm, a small U-pick flower farm tucked beneath old oaks in the heart of the Lowcountry — just minutes from Bluffton and Savannah. Here, guests can wander through seasonal flower gardens, meet friendly farm animals (our ducks and chickens), and relax under the shade of our century-old oak trees. You’ll wake up to birdsong, enjoy soft Lowcountry breezes, and maybe even catch a golden sunset reflecting off the pond. Throughout the year, the farm hosts creative workshops like floral wreath-making and pressed flower crafts, and offers farm-fresh goods such as honey, jams, and dried flowers. Guests are always welcome to browse the farm shop or join a workshop during their stay (check the schedule before booking). This is a working farm, so expect the sounds of country life — tractors, roosters, and plenty of nature. Paths are flat and easy to navigate, but please watch for fire ants, snakes, and the occasional gator in the pond (from a safe distance). Note: The dirt road can get muddy and bumpy after rain, but if you take it slow, you should be just fine. Whether you’re here for a quiet retreat, a creative getaway, or a stop on your travels, Helena Hills offers a peaceful, authentic slice of Lowcountry farm life. 🌻

Whippoorwill Farms SC is a 40 acre, regenerative working farm, where our main income comes from the sale of our meat, egg and vegetable products direct to consumer at local farmers markets, through our subscription service and at local restaurants! We love opening up our farm for people to experience what farm life is like in a beautiful, wooded setting. After moving our farm here to this land in October of 2019, we began the slow process of regenerating the land through the use of heritage animal species and permaculture. We have made a lot of progress on our property since then, and we continue daily to work to regenerate our little slice of land! Walk our property and the see hundreds of pigs, thousands of chickens (we have the most chickens between March-December), cows and our two horses, Whiskey and Willow. Our livestock roam amongst the trees and forage in their natural environment. If you love nature and regenerative agriculture, you'll love exploring our farm and all we have to offer!
