The Cove consists of 12 acres with a tributary stream and spring fed ponds less than a half mile from the Toccoa River. It was originally the water source for the surrounding properties prior to the city installing a water system. It is completely private and unspoiled nature, with about a mile of walking trails throughout. The Mountaintop is a 3 acre high elevation site bordering 140 acres of undisturbed woods and is also very close to the Toccoa River. Fantastic location yet very private for base camp to access the many activities in this area, or enjoy the Toccoa River. It is the only campground in Fannin County limited to only one group at a time. Each site includes 2 access points to the Toccoa River. The Gibbs Drive community river access lot has a charcoal grill, picnic table, boat launch, swimming rock and fire pit with chairs. The Toccoa River Forest community river access lot has a big boat ramp. The river is controlled flow and usually at low water from dawn to about 2 pm, ideal for fishing or swimming/wading/boulder bopping. The River release schedule is available online at the website TVA.gov. The River has swift current when the dam is opened for release, usually daily. This property is conveniently located in Mineral Bluff, Georgia 30559, just 4 miles off the 4-lane highway (Highway 515/76) and just a short drive to Blue Ridge, Georgia; Blairsville, Georgia; Murphy, North Carolina, McCaysville, Georgia and Copper Hill, Tennessee. It is a paved road drive all the way to the entrance. The pond is in the middle of about a 4 acre area that is totally forested & makes a great place to get away from the madness of life & get into nature. Our street ends in a cul-de-sac, minimizing traffic in the area, but the spot is right along a street. You will be able to see & hear cars going by the site. On the other hand, it is also right along a deer path & just this morning I saw 2 does & a baby walking through the site. There is a resident hawk & a gaggle of turkeys that live in the area in addition to pileated woodpeckers & all sorts of other birds. Come check it out and please let us know if you have any questions. Learn more about this land: We would love to have you at the Pond at Dogwood Acres. Our pond is just a little pond, but it is full of life and makes for a cozy little campsite. You will be the only ones camping here. There is a long parking spot suitable for cars/SUVs/trucks and even a trailer or pop up.  There are hiking trails leading into the woods at the right side of the end of the drive. Feel free to enjoy them. We are surrounded by the Chattahoochee National Forest and here in Towns County we are 80% National Forest. Lake Chatuge is close by (less than 10 minutes) in Hiawassee has 132 miles of shoreline. The Appalachian Trail weaves all through the area and you can get to numerous access points for the AT within about 30 minutes. There are a many waterfalls throughout our area within about a 30 minute drive as well. The closest is Cupid Falls just behind Young Harris College. Fire's Creek in Hayesville is a favorite spot. Otherwise you can head towards Vogel State Park and find many more.  Head north on state road 66 heading out of Young Harris towards Warne, North Carolina. Travel almost 4 miles passing 339 and then make a right on Brasstown Lane. If you see mile marker 4 or get to Warne, you passed it. Once you turn onto Brasstown Lane it will be on the right side. Coming from North Carolina head south on 66 out of Warne and make a left onto Brasstown Lane. We are about 1 mile south of the North Carolina state line. We are somewhat in the middle of Blairsville (GA), Hiawassee (GA) and Hayeville (NC).  Not far from us is the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC and just a bit further is Murphy, NC.  34'58'45.1"N 83'52'49.7"W On a larger scale, we are right in the middle of and about 2 hours from Atlanta, Asheville and Chattanooga. I loved the tent of Gary’s land. It was winter, so we could see the mountains, while still feeling secluded. The breakfast was amazing and Gary gave us great ideas of places to visit. His puppies even came to say hi!

Tim was simply over-the-top friendly and helpful. He was very responsive and has a great stream flowing by the campsites. We had a great time and would certainly camp there again.

You are definitely in the mountains now! shelter is hand crafted from all rough sawn locally sourced wood from the site or from Fannin County forests.

Lots of space to move around and the pergola cover offered a lot of shelter from the wind and had all the camping amenities we could need. George even brought up a kerosene space heater for us!

Another great trip to the Cove! For anyone who comes right after us, we set up your first fire logs in the firepit. We brought our own firewood but you’ll find enough logs in the wood crib to do about two fires, plus the giant stumps that are great to prolong the fire if you can get one going. George also has a bale of pine straw in there which is super helpful to get a fire started. My whole review is about fires, can you tell it was cold while we were there haha! Saw several deer and hawks. Lots of stars and quiet.

Wonderful camp site #3 next to a lovely creek and a convenient camp toilet. It was easy to find the site, it was very private, and the stars were bright! We included two bundles of wood with our booking and we were very happy with the quality of the wood and the amount. Well worth the money. We would definitely return

The picnic table is super lightweight and can be moved based on how you camp. It is on the flattest spot so if you sleep in a tent you can move the table to the other side of the fire pit and pitch your tent where the table is.

11/10 ! absolutely loved this quaint spot. we saw a few deer and a wild turkey during our short stay. the little library out front was such a highlight and made my partner and i feel so welcomed. we definitely want to come back again. it was my partner’s first time camping and she enjoyed herself so much. we also visited vogel state park which was a 30 min drive and worth it. highly recommend. thank you megan :)

4 nights at Creekside Cabin at Lake Hartwell

I have to say, this was hands-down the best organized, cleanest, easiest, most amenity-laden cabin I’ve ever rented. So many details, from the embroidered robes to the bound book of instructions and recommendations. From the kitchen appointments to the coffee. There are really too many amazing little things to list here, but you could really tell the owners absolutely care about the experience their property provides. And we went panning for gold in the creek below the back deck and even found a little! It was incredibly comfortable and lots of fun. Just make sure you’re ok with stairs and aren’t too large to fit the spiral to the loft. I honestly cannot think of a single improvement to make. Didn’t even matter that it rained so much, because there was plenty left to do inside.

Campsite #3 (as all the sites) was right on the creek, so we enjoyed the sound of rushing water during our stay. We had shade along the creek where the fire ring was situated, and open level mowed field where we pitched our tent. The owner also has some portable chicken coops in the large field, which we were pleased to see since we’re a fan of chickens and eggs, too! The chickens were neither noisy nor smelly, by the way. It was nice to have a toilet next to the site which is shared with other campers, but we never had a wait to use it.

Where to go

North Shore

The wooded north shore of Lake Lanier is dotted with sandy beaches, lakeside parks, and islands. Head to Little Ridge Park to hook a bass in Buford Dam, cruise out to explore Three Sisters Island from Two Mile Creek Park, or cool off with a swim at Mary Alice Beach.

South Shore

The star attraction of Lake Lanier’s south shore is the Lanier Islands resort, home to the Margaritaville aqua park, sandy beaches, and a winter snow activity area. Check into a luxury lodge or villa, stay at the RV resort, or snag a lakeside campsite at Shoal Creek Campground.

Northwest Shore

The northernmost tip of Lake Lanier is the place to escape the crowds. Head to Chattahoochee or Chestatee Golf Clubs to play a game of golf by the lakeside, set out to cruise the lake from one of the marinas, or check into the campgrounds at Toto Creek, Bolding Mill, or Duckett Mill.

Northeast Shore

Lakeside Gainesville is the gateway to the northeastern waterways, which snake north to meet the Chattahoochee River. Hop over to Thompson Bridge Park to picnic by the lakefront or launch your boat, enjoy events like live concerts and Food Truck Fridays (March through October) at Lake Lanier Olympic Park, or explore the hiking trails at Don Carter State Park, which also has RV campsites and cabin rentals.
