Our three "SWEET TUPELO" R.V. campsites are located on 12 riverfront acres in the northern Panhandle of Florida on the historic Apalachicola River. The name “Sweet Tupelo” is taken from the Tupelo tree that grows exclusively in the floodplains and sloughs along the Apalachicola River. Local bees make their honey with the pollen of these trees creating many unique health and taste benefits found only in this part of the world. When you venture back into civilization, make sure you pick up a jar of Tupelo honey. You won’t be disappointed!

"Sweet Tupelo" is located roughly halfway between Apalachicola and Chattahoochee, at the river's mile marker 60. This river is Florida's LARGEST by volume of water, stretching 103 miles from the FL/GA border in Chattahoochee to the historic fishing village of Apalachicola on the Gulf coast.

Howard Creek is located just 20 minutes from the St Joe Bay for saltwater fishing or access to the Gulf of Mexico, 15 minutes from the Intracoastal waterway access at White City, FL and 35 minutes from the Dead Lakes in Wewahitchka, FL.
Flat site partially tucked behind some trees and set back 80 feet off of the sand street. Well water hookup, septic capabilities with macerator (lav pump), electric with 30 and 50 amp at the box on the pole (approx. 100 feet from primary parking spot) or 30 amp at the parking spot, corner of pole barn. COLD water shower and sink available. There is a pole barn on the property with our camper stored under it. You're welcome to use the remaining space under the pole barn for your leisure, approximately 20x35 ft.
We're dog people! Your dogs are welcome but must supervised while you're away from the property. We have some wonderful neighbors and do not want to disturb them.
There are security cameras present on the property.
This is a wonderful "Forgotten Coast" region of the Florida panhandle with so much to see and do within minutes. This area took a direct hit from Hurricane Michael in 2018 and has worked hard at recovery, with so much rebuilding and growth over the last few years.
Howard Creek is an eclectic little fishing community made up of a variety of residents from weekend fishers, summer or winter visitors and full time residents. This little golf cart community offers a small general store, a small community church, a volunteer fire department and two landings to put your boat in.
Just 20 minutes from the quaint little beach town of Port Saint Joe, Florida. PSJ is known for its warm, welcoming people, old world Florida feel, dog-friendly beaches, Cape San Blas and Indian Pass. Many locally owned wonderful restaurants, bakeries and shops. It's easy to find a charter out of PSJ if you're interested in fishing! If you leave our site and head north, you're just 35 minutes from the Dead Lakes in Wewahitchka; some gorgeous old Florida natural views and fresh water fishing; bream, large mouth bass, crappie, shellcracker and catfish.

Located 5 miles east off of Hwy 386, it's a 7 minute drive to Mexico Beach, and 15 minutes to wewahitchka, where you'll find dining and supplies.
Fishing is just steps away, and if you want to have us take you Fishing on the ICW, we can arrange that for a fee.
Notes:
⁃ We recommend an SUV or truck to navigate the dirt road leading to this amazing place. Sometimes it's graded sometimes it's rough after a lot of rain. All-wheel drive would be ideal, especially after rainy conditions! That said, I have had my jetta there, but it's not always a great road.
⁃ You should be able to get a small camper on the land if you have a powerful vehicle, but I recommend you stick with car or tent camping. Truck campers are very easily getting in.
⁃ Keep in mind, this is a rural location, so you may occasionally hear neighbors firing weapons in the distance. While it's not common, it can happen from time to time. (Especially during hunting season.)
⁃ You may come across wildlife during your stay.
While issues and encounters with dangerous animals are extremely rare, it's always a good idea to be prepared by bringing basic first aid supplies and protective items like bear spray, and bug spray.
⁃ There is a Dollar General less than 15 minutes away in either direction for your basic needs.

Wonderful site! We even played pickleball a little bit! I love that a water hose is provided. I went with a friend that booked a couple earlier nights and also was here in January as well. I met a wonderful neighbor down the street who gave us fresh grapefruit and eggs, such a wonderful surprise and very kind! Felt safe. Would be cool if there was stairs down the cliff but totally understand that would not be safe! The owner Glenn keeps it immaculate and in 100% working order. Recommended!

Second time here this year Love the place of course! Had a friend meet us us. She loved the place as well. She even was able to fish some. Plenty of sitting space and tables and an outdoor grill area too. Highly recommend! Definitely will be back for our third trip hopefully before summer comes! If you want more water view where you park and by the fire then the 3rd site probably has the most water viewing area. Definitely watch your pet near the cliffs!

It is a beautiful location! Plenty of room between sites...there was only 1 other site used while we were there. Very private...the only noise you will hear is the cow mooing "good night" from down the lane. The night sky is very impressive and you must sit by the fire pit and enjoy it. All the services are new and you have no problem hooking up. This would be a great place for a family vacation..especially if you could reserve all 3 spots. Will be on my list to come back to visit again.

The site is a single space in the host's backyard about 4-5 blocks from the beach with a view of trees / wildlife and it included all of the advertised amenities. We found public access to the beach that allowed dogs less than 5 miles away. We stayed for 2 weeks in January. The Internet was spotty, but we were hitting it hard (2 people working remotely M-F). We saw many birds (I spotted my first great horned owl) and several deer wandered through the site. The stars were incredible. We would definitely choose this site again, especially when the weather is a bit warmer.

Such a beautiful view and a beautiful campsite. The host Glenn was wonderful and attentive at all times. We will definitely be back soon, hopefully before summer. Highly recommend. Do not stay at a state park, come to Sweet Tupelo instead! You will not regret it!

This is a simple, no frills single site, for a very good price. Full hookup, wifi connection... Don't expect some kind of beach resort setting, but a great site for a quick getaway.
Wayne was extremely helpful when there was a problem with the 30A plug, and very responsive. Its a three block walk to the beach, and short drive to Mexico Beach or Port St Joe.

What a beautiful and serene spot to spend outdoors! We tent camped and the space had everything we needed. The other two spots were far enough away that we didn’t feel cramped. There were two RVs with families in those spots. They were extremely respectful. We had plenty of room. We loved all of the furniture, the fire pit, and the grill set up. We used extra long (2-100 ft) power cords to get electricity to our tent so we could heat up our electric mattress pad. The fog on the river in the mornings was magical. The only thing I would pass on is to bring earplugs for those who are tent camping and are light sleepers. As another commenter mentioned, there are dogs in the neighborhood that tend to howl and bark a lot at night. I don’t think it would bother anyone in RVs, but it is something to think about if you are tent camping. That said, it would not stop me from coming back!! This was an amazing space and I hope to bring my kids back with me next time! I highly recommend driving an hour to Merritt Mills lake which is in Marianna. It is a springfed lake with gorgeous Cypress trees and clear water. We took our kayaks and thought it was one of our best kayaking outings. We also drove an hour south to Saint George’s Island. This camping spot is prime location for exploring.

Sweet Tupelo was the perfect spot for our family campsgiving! This was my first time using my new travel trailer, and everything about the setup was perfect for easing me into a new way of camping. The view was incredible and we had loads of space and privacy. My niece told us that when she has kids she will bring them camping at Sweet Tupelo!
