Welcome to Smokey Acres! This property has been in my family for decades. My Husband and I were married under the oaks and have had our share of campfires out there. Down a hidden gravel drive with wetlands on either side you will find a completely fenced in field surrounded by pine, oak, and swamp maple trees. There are two ponds located on the property both stocked with bass, bluegill, and sunfish. The front pond is home to many natural Florida wildlife and is a great location to bird watch. Located a few miles from Brooksville and the Suncoast Parkway, this quiet and peaceful setting is just 5 minutes from the parking area and trailhead for the Suncoast Trail and 10 miles from the famous Weeki Wachee Springs, where you can spend the day at the local park or float down the river with the manatees. A boardwalk takes you along the Cotee River to our two open air pavilions with several places to sit and enjoy nature. Cell phone service is not a problem, as we are not remote (although it sort of feels like we are when you are here) - we are 5 min from downtown New Port Richey, 2 minutes from groceries, gas, restaurants. This beautiful slice of Old Florida is named for the Pithlachascotee River that bends along the back side of the property. Pithlo is the Creek word meaning canoe, and chaskita means to dig or chop out, together signifying "place where canoes are chopped or dug out". Seminoles of this area used canoes dug out from the great cypress trees found along Florida rivers. From the 1980s until 2014, this property was owned by the Cotee River Lions Club. They held a popular monthly pancake breakfast fundraiser in the large pavilion along the river. We purchased this 4.9 acres of land in late 2019. It is now where we live and have a woodworking shop. It has been a magical place for us, with no shortage of wildlife, rich jungle forest, a winding narrow river, and even the occasion river otter sighting. You’ll pass Homosassa and their State Park (the oldest Hippo Lu (65) lives here). At the waterfront restaurant ‘Crumps’ you can watch monkeys on an island! Dames Cave in Lecanto is about 17 minutes from here with multiple caves to explore. The famous Weeki Wachee Springs State park is a 15 minute drive south highway 19. Howard’s Flea Market is the largest in Citrus County, 10 minutes north from the camp site. ‚Adventure Flg X’ is a fun Zip Line park in Brooksville. Rainbow River Springs is an hour north from Twin Pines. The park has beautiful scenic trails and a water temperature of 72 degrees year round which invites you to explore the river in a tube or kayak. The Weeki Wachee preserve is another beautiful, close spot worth visiting. Disney World, Legoland and Universal Studios are within two hours. St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Tampa and Tarpon Springs are must-see cities! Beaches: Pine Island, Fort Island, Sunwest Park Beach. Further away: Madeira Beach, Honeymoon Island & Fort DeSoto. Perfect little get away we only spent one night but enough space and privacy from neighbors camping. Could hear a tad of the street noise if you really tried (we were in a rooftop tent) but better than most state park campsites.

We love how secluded it is and how quiet it is, it's a perfect place for relaxation. For people with pets this is a perfect place, nice and quiet with nature and lots of room for your pets to run around. Our cats love the sights and sounds of pure nature, for they are used to the sites and sounds of the city.

So glad we found this gem of a campsite! Hilary was very communicative and gave clear directions on how to get to the property and our individual site. There are lots of trees and foliage and some vintage RVs covered in vines and plants, giving the land a fun and funky vibe. Our site (RV3) included electrical books ups, water and a garbage bin and was situated next to a pond along with a picnic table and firepit. We also had a huge grassy field that could accommodate large tents etc. You can buy firewood for $8 and even rent a fishing pole for $5. There is a bath area with a flush toilet and shower but we only used the toilet. We slept great. There were only two other RVs nearby who didn't make any noise and were far enough away that they didn't bother us. Our cat loved the space as well! Forget going to an RV park or state campsite and come here instead! Pricing very reasonable. Decided to book another night-Would absolutely return.

This place was so peaceful and just what I needed. I spent a few days recharging on this beautiful property and would stay here again if in the area. The only thing I would mention is that the road into the park has a lot of bumps and places washed out from the rain down here, just as a heads up for larger RVs because it was a bumpy ride in just my van. Everything was super well kept - clean trash cans for each spot, no trash anywhere on site, freshly mowed grass, and one well kept nature trail that I liked walking with my dog. Lots of wildlife and nature sounds; 10/10 for me!

We brought our travel trailer to Smokey Acres and it was a quiet and peaceful weekend. We had a great camping experience. The property was amazing, and the tent sites and cabin along the trail were very cozy looking too.

Smokey Acres made for a perfect weekend getaway. Easy to find. Large, level mowed field with mature oaks for shade. Plenty of space between the camp sites. Nature trail was pleasant short hike. I would definitely stay here again.

Weekend Trip to Wilderness Shores Ranch Campground!

This place is absolutely fantastic. The campsites are so well maintained, the scenery is incredible & Paul is the best (make sure you get to hear one of his jokes after you check in). There are beautiful longhorns roaming around the campsites and goats in a pen you can go feed. Oh and the bathrooms? Impeccable. So clean and very nice. Truly cannot recommend this place enough. We will be back!!!

Weekend Trip to Private Pets Welcome Full Hook Up !

For the price ($15 per night) it was great. It is next to a busy street but has a wood privacy fence on all sides except the entrance gate which you manually open and close. If you have a small dog, then you might want to take the extra boards lying next to the entrance to block the gap at the bottom of the entrance gate so your pooch doesn’t get out. There is electric, water and sewer but you will need 2 people for the sewer- one to hold the line to the drain and another to work the valves. There’s a wonderful swing and a fire pit to warm up to on those cooler nights. Be sure you have RV levelers as the ground isn’t level but most of it has asphalt under the sand so you don’t get stuck. It’s only about 20 minutes from Bucaneer Bay waterpark and the weeki watchi state park with the live mermaid show and river kayaking. And tons of places to eat at. The host, Amanda, is extremely nice and helpful. I would recommend this location especially if you’re on a budget.

The property was beautiful and it was pleasant and clean. Very clean. Very natural environment. Lovely solar showers. Amazing fresh well water. I mean pure. There's a charging station for your phones. There's plenty of things to look at. There's the labyrinth that's made up really nice. A really great place to meditate and relax. The serenity and peace of the land are addictive

Weekend Trip to Smokey Acres

We had a wonderful time at RV 2! Love to have the whole field behind/ beside the camper! So nice to hang a hammock and sip some coffee. We enjoyed the nature trail and making fires both nights. Also, so close to Weki Wachee, plenty of hiking, and the cute town of Brooksville. I'm hoping to be back soon!

What a great place! The landscape, the hot tub, the pool, and the outside showers all contributed to a wonderful experience. The sun deck is an added pleasure. The check in process was smoothly handled by Kim. What else can I say. 5 stars for sure.
