Weekend Trip to The Wandering Path

Wow! What an experience! From the moment we arrived, everything felt so thoughtful and beautifully maintained. The grounds were pristine, and you could tell so much love and care goes into keeping this place special. The bathhouse blew us away—it was such a treat to have a full bathroom while camping! The cook shack was another awesome touch. Having a real sink to clean after cooking made our experience feel both rustic and fancy. We stayed at the primitive hike-in Site 8, and WOW—what a gem. Tucked away on a creekside cliff, it felt like our own private hideaway in the woods. Amanda, our host, recommended bringing a cart for the hike in, and I’m so glad she did—it made setting up camp a breeze. The site itself had everything we needed: solar lights, a fire pit with a cooking grate, a trash can, and a picnic table, with tons of room for our tents and gear. Our two boys spent the entire weekend playing in the creek, which might just be the dreamiest spot we’ve ever seen. We loved being able to float down the water, hike along the property, and just let the kids be wild and free while still having everything we needed close by. Amanda was such a lovely and thoughtful host. She checked in to make sure we were all set and even passed by while floating the creek herself! That little moment summed up the whole weekend-fun, relaxing, and full of heart. We’re so grateful for this experience and can’t wait to come back. Thank you for sharing your slice of heaven!

I could not recommend Amanda's place more highly! It's in a perfect location, right next to the most beautiful creek and far enough away from civilization that there's virtually no road noise. The bathhouse and outdoor kitchen are both amazing things to have, and Amanda was a helpful and attentive host. I'll definitely be back soon.

We loved staying at Amanda’s place! She’s was such a friendly host. We stayed at campsite number 8 and it was perfect for us. I loved floating the creek. It was clear and shallow!!

This was the perfect site to catch some rays on my solar and have some shade in the corner to walk my dog. Sites are spread out well so felt super private. Loved having the shower option as well! 🙏🏼

Amanda is an absolute gem. She was so accommodating from the start. My sister and I arrived there Thursday afternoon and was immediately greeted by sweet Bella. (Amanda’s dog) She hung around with us for a lil bit and then left to make her rounds of the campground. She came back a lil later and said hello again before headed back home for the night. Amanda greeted us right away as well. She made sure we had everything we needed and even offered to pick anything else up that we may have forgotten when she went to the store later that afternoon. The campground was beautifully set up. We stayed at the RV site. My sister had her RV and I set up my rooftop tent on my jeep. The bathroom facilities are adorable. Amanda went above and beyond when she designed them. Very rustic and quaint. I could go on and on about Amanda and The Wandering Path. She personally called me on our way out thanking us for staying out there and then wished me a happy birthday today. That was the icing on the cake for me:) I told her that we will definitely make my bday and annual trip. Thanks again Amanda for the hospitality. We couldn’t be more happier with our stay. Give sweet Bella some love from us until next time.

Cool area and friendly staff! The Cold water cabin was cute, a great price, with everything we needed for one night in Navarre. Sits in the middle of a lot of good food options as well. Only a 7 minute drive from multiple public beaches. Would definitely recommend checking this spot out!

Had a fantastic stay at the wandering path. We travelled with friends and booked yurts 1 & 2 which share the same entrance path so was super convenient. They were close but not to close. There was a good amount of people staying there that weekend but we had no issues with noise or waiting for the restrooms. The bathroom is an added bonus with hot showers. Especially after dipping in the creek. We loved our time there and will definitely be back. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway from city life.

I brought my 4.5yr camping at his request. Site 8 was the perfect spot for him to get the full camping feel but to still have access to a bathroom and also our car in the event we had to leave. The area was big enough that we felt secluded but I knew if I needed to find help I could. Which was a good peace of mind for a single mom.

I had a quick stop over here overnight and it was lovely. Nice, quiet and peaceful neighborhood. The sites were nicely groomed, cute solar lights to mark each site which helped since I arrived after dark. My pup and I had a nice walk in the morning down their street. My only request would be a table of some sort to make a cup of coffee and quick breakfast before hitting the road again.

Amanda is definitely a super host ! Mother nature moved us south for better weather and Amanda accepted us on her beautiful property right on the creek. The vibe was relax and every guest we talked to was chill and all had good things to say about their stay. Bella came visit often to make sure we was taken care of. I arrived after sunset and it was easy to find. The host came out right away to help me find my spot. He was very helpful and pleasant. The campsite was clean with ample space and good level ground for a tent. The port-a-potty was a short walk and there are plenty of solar lights to help you find your way. They also have a shower, water spigot, fire pits, and some wood to burn. The camping area is within a neighborhood on a large property, so there is enough separation from neighborhood homes to have privacy, but you must also still be careful about making too much noise or light late at night. Overall, it is quiet. I was there on a weekend night, so there was some car and truck noise from highways in the distance and a speedway racetrack. It’s about a 20 minute to 1/2 hour drive to the good beaches.

Weekend Trip to Apple Hill Cabins and Camp Ground

Marie and Larry are kind, generous, and the real thing: Alabama homesteaders for generations. They decided to share their beautiful property with folks who are looking for peace and quiet, not frills and frippery. I walked the land every morning I was there after drinking my coffee serenaded by hundreds of bird. We enjoyed a bout of "severe weather" one evening, with thunderstorms and lightening and heavy rains pounding my little trailer. Larry and I had the chance to chat numerous times and I learned fascinating things about him and the history of the area. He and Marie even invited me in for a shrimp boil and catfish dinner. Now that's great hospitality. I stayed in site one, electric no sewer. But I think it's the best spot anyway since you can see the ponds and woods. I highly recommend Apple Hill and if I lived closer, I'd be back in a heartbeat.

Depending on your needs we have five sites. Three sites have water access and two sites have power, water and septic hook up. Sites also have a fire ring and trees to hook a hammock to. **Fire Fly or Lightning bug** season is early spring till early summer with 4 Oaks, Tri-Pine and Surrounded by Shade being the best sites to enjoy the show.
