The octagon is a private 122 ft.² that is electrified and heated. It has a full size bed, cabinet and table with chairs. It sits next to a brook on 56 acres of forest with a pond, small waterfall, marsh and 2 1/2 miles of hiking trails. There is a fire pit and outdoor dining area next to the octagon. We also have a propane outdoor grill and propane two burner camp stove. Out house with composting toilet close to octagon is heated. A great place to rejuvenate in the forest! Dogs welcome.

Watch the ariel acrobatics of the swallows swoop into the barn to feed their chicks! The two streams feed into the huge Natchaug River right across the street which is great for fishing, or spending the day at Diana's pool basking on the rocks with a picnic lunch. The area and property is perfect for hiking, horseback riding, small retreats, family gatherings all the while enjoying nature at its purest.
We offer a Weber grill and large fire pit and outdoor picnic table with umbrella.
You can either sleep in the barn, down in the clean stalls, or up in the barn loft. Bring supplies as if you are camping ie bedding, hammock, tent, sleeping pad or inflatable mattress. Each tree is beautiful in its own way, but perhaps no trunk is better for squeezing than those in the 200-year old white pine grove in the Whittemore Recreation Area of the Peoples Forest.

Weekend Trip to Water Forest Retreat
We adore everything about the little paradise that Nancy and Bert have built so lovingly over the years. It's an absolute respite that feels like it's in a faraway land, but within ten minutes of absolutely everything. We've stayed at the treehouse and at Hiker's Haven't, and they're equally magical. We can't say enough about the whole experience, and we'll continue to go back as often as we possibly can.

Weekend Trip to Heaven Sent Barn!
Loved staying upstairs in the barn! It kept us protected from the wind and rain and had all we needed for a quick getaway. Highly recommended!

This site was perfect for us! We came with our dogs and they loved running around on the trails and in the fields - the site had a picnic table and cooking area, and we grabbed firewood, eggs, maple syrup and a few other goodies from the farm stand on the way in. David and his family were amazing hosts, checking in periodically to see if we needed anything to make our stay even more comfortable. We took advantage of the permanent tent at the site and our own tents, both were super fun - we will most definitely be back again, thank you David and family!

We overnighted here for my sons birthday fishing trip. 3x 13 year olds and dad. Jocelyn was an amazing host. Super friendly and approachable. The barn is a great place for cold nights and rain. It’s a great way to plan a camping trip without worrying about rain or weather. If you are into trout/small mouth fishing the Natchaug is right across the street and there are many many walks all around. Great location will definitely be back again!

Weekend Trip to Inlaw Apt @River near Casino, Kayak
Loved staying here! The view is amazing, and the outdoor patio area has a sofa and outdoor fire pit, which was so cozy on a cool fall night. We used the canoe on the river - loved that Gina has kayaks and a canoe for guests to use (and life vests). Inside the apartment was so clean and the bed and sofa bed were very comfortable. Gina left us a basket of snacks and fruit, coffee and a vase of beautiful fresh flowers welcomed us when we arrived. Gina was great to communicate with and answered all my questions. She lives upstairs, but we felt like we had the place the ourselves. I would highly recommend staying here. Also check out Arrowhead Acres bakery, winery and farm - just 12 minutes from the property. Delicious food and wine. Had dinner at a Peruvian restaurant in Norwich called Canggio Restaurant. Such great food!!

David’s secluded camp site was absolutely the best site I have stayed at ALL summer. Quiet, convenient, and just what I needed. The dogs were living their best life for the duration of our stay. What surprised me the most about the site was the lack of mosquitoes, flying knats and ants??!! Lots of big spiders, eating healthy! It was great to not smell of deet or citronella☺️
I highly recommend spending a few nights here, best decision I made😀thanx David!!!

Weekend Trip to Maple Corner Farm
The site here at Maple Corner Farm is truly a delight for people who like CAMPING. They were so accommodating when we arrived, helping us get well water onsite and providing a solar-heated shower bag for our use (and a plastic camp toilet).
Although wood was available for purchase at the farm store, they gave us the OK to go looking for wood in the forest and burn anything we find on the ground - so we did, and had no issue finding logs, kindling, etc. to keep the fire going all weekend.
The trails are a little overgrown, but anyone with long pants and bug spray will have no issue walking through the areas with taller grass/a few patches of low-to-the-ground ferns along the trails. The nearby campsite with a natural swimming hole was unoccupied so we got to dabble there a bit, and the meadow was huge and open - we set up a blanket and telescope at night for stargazing, and brought binoculars to birdwatch over the meadow during the day.
We saw hawks, baby turkeys, ospreys, owls, and crows - along with a few frogs, monarch butterflies and some brave chipmunks.
Altogether, it felt very safe yet remote, we were free to roam the farm, and had a super authentic camping experience. The mattresses and bunk bed in our canvas tent were a huge plus, as well as the shower attached to the outhouse. There is a military base and airport nearby so we saw some cool planes, fighter jets, and heard bombs at one point. We’ll be back and likely will rent both sites that border the meadow!

We stayed at Maple Corner Farm this past weekend and could not have been happier with our experience. We chose the Meadow site and wanted privacy and space for our 110 pound dog who can be a little iffy with strangers and this site was perfect. The canvas tent with queen bunk beds was perfect for our family of 3 and the covered awning was great for shade. We had brought a screen tent knowing how buggy it might be because we also live in the woods. There was a delightful swimming hole just a couple minutes walk down the road that was amazing to cool off in. David was a great host and he is running a 5 star spot for sure!

Weekend Trip to Maple Corner Farm
We loved camping at Maple Corner Farm! Highlights:
- It was totally quiet and remote, beautiful, peaceful, just us and the fields and the woods (yet easy to get to)
- We felt so very welcomed by David and his family. Gracious, patient, hospitable, kind, went the extra mile, very available and responsive. Thank you, David!
- The tent site was delightful. Loved the roof over the picnic table and the kitchen area. The adirondack chairs were super comfortable, buying wood was simple, the tent and platform were clean and exactly as described, entire area was clean and well cared for.

Weekend Trip to Beavertides Farm
I would only recommend "maybe" as most of my friends are not as adventurous staying at a working farm. Working is the right way to say it so no fancy paths or high end stuff. Just a very cool relaxing way to spend time around a real farm scene. Hosts were MOST helpful and nice and the tent was huge. Beds super comfy, clean and the fridge came in handy too. Donkey and two horsed milling about was nice. I'd say the solar shower is a bit crude but I've been told it's to be upgraded. The whole area is wonderful. So yeah, you want to chill simply? Come here!

We enjoyed our stay here. Everything was very clean and well taken care of. We easily fit 5 of us in the top floor with air mattresses (If you are planning on sleeping on the first floor, definitely bring a tarp or blanket to put down). The outdoors area was well maintained with a great firepit where we sat around the flames and listened to the frogs and crickets and such. Would recommend. Was fun to watch the swallows as well. Porta Potty was very clean and had a convenient solar light next to it to help you find it in the dark.

This property and host were fantastic! We set up our tents in the back and truly appreciated having the barn as a shelter when it rained. The electricity was a great bonus, making it a step up from traditional camping. Plus, Diana's Pool was just down the road and provided a fun afternoon activity.

Five stars aren’t enough to describe our stay at the picturesque Octagon. This is a perfect getaway for a solo traveler or couple. Nancy thought of all the details, and we felt so welcomed. We cooked dinner over the bonfire, and in addition to the tiny house, enjoyed the outdoor shower and a hike through this beautiful property. I hope to return one day!

My family and I loved staying at the Meadow Site! We stayed during a hot summer weekend amd were happy to relax away from the busy world. The heat didn't bother us in the slightest as it felt so nice with the shade from the trees and the coolness in the tent. The site was the perfect getaway especially for my son's first time camping! He can't wait to go back! It was was so cool seeing so many fireflies once the sun went down, bringing back that nostalgia from growing up. The place was very well maintained and taken care of.
There appears to be some trails that we wanted to explore but with the dogs and not the right shoes on the kiddo, we felt it might have been a little tricky. These trails looked well marked from the areas we did see and likely great during the fall or winter when the brush are past season. We'll be sure to see the waterfall next time!
Dave was an excellent host! Straight forward and easy to get ahold of with any questions and even recommended some things to do or find in the area. He also hooked us up with some firewood so we didnt have to venture far. There is a country store in the farm too for their local goods (it is a maple farm after all).
We hope to stay again in the future and recommend this site if you have dogs or kiddos and really need that quiet niche away from it all.
