Summers get hot in the northeast. And muggy. We’re sweating just thinking about it. When it’s mid-July and Connecticut is threatening to burst into flames, Kettletown State Park is where people go to cool off.The refreshing waters of the Housatonic River and Lake Zoar are guaranteed to lower your body temperature and restore your energy levels. The rest of the park that isn’t water is heavily wooded, providing lots of welcome shade. Shoot, you could even go for a hike and not worry about overheating. It’s the perfect summer getaway from summer, if that makes sense. Don’t think about it too much, just go.

State park 40mi from North Stamford · 76 sites
If there was a beauty pageant for all the lakes in Connecticut, Lake Waramaug wins, hands down. It’s not even a competition. Scenically, Lake Waramaug State Park is unrivaled. Being caught without a camera here is like showing up to potluck without a dish. You just don’t do it.When the fall foliage starts to peak, whoa. The sight of the vivid colors reflected in the unrippled lake surface is more beautiful than anything you’ve ever seen. Don’t let your significant other hear you say that, though. If you listen closely, you can hear the clicking shutters of a thousand photographers.

Always working on improvements! My second glamping site "The Medieval Encampment", is available for booking starting April 1st of 2025. I will have more pictures soon. In April of 2024, my long awaited 1st Glamping site was available for booking. It's been very popular! Please read the description carefully of the "Gypsy Rose Vardo", to see if it's the right fit for you. I also have 10 large camping sites available on our 33 acre property located in Northwest NJ. Sites 1 through 4 are on mowed, fairly level fields and are large enough for campers or RV's up to 30ft, or a couple of tents, and sites 5 and 6 are further back in the woods, available only for a few small tents, sites 7 through 10 are much further into the property and are only accessible with a high clearance AWD or 4WD SUV or you can park and hike your gear in. There are 3 compost toilet outhouses spread out through the property, so it's an easy walking distance from any site. Although we are only 2 1/2 miles from a main highway, the last 2 miles are on a dirt road with no houses. We are surrounded by protected land, so no neighbors and lots of wildlife, including the occasional bear, coyote or raccoon. Keep all food items secured. Because we are surrounded by protected land we are not sprayed for insects, so be safe and do tick checks often and bring the bug spray. We are 45 minutes from NYC or the Delaware Water Gap and an hour away from the NJ shore. There are horse farms nearby that offer trail rides. We are also close to the Highland and Appalachian Hiking trails. There are two reservoirs within a 20-minute drive for canoeing or kayaking. There are walking trails through our property, including a ten-minute hike on a marked trail to a small waterfall in a ravine.

Once a working small farm, this property is now our homestead. Our cabin, a converted shed, was once used by family. You’ll see multiple plots of organically grown vegetables, a large area for relaxing, playing croquet or cornhole, and a mowed path for a short walk. We are located on a main town road, so there may be some traffic noise at times. Expect a rooster to be your alarm clock and, on a clear night, plenty of stars. The cabin has a couch that opens into a small full-size bed, suitable for one tall person or two petite guests. It is equipped with rechargeable bistro lights, a rechargeable fan, and windows with screens and curtains. Books and games are also provided. There is enough space for an additional guest to sleep on the floor with a camping mat. The converted greenhouse is equipped with a small fridge/freezer, an electric griddle, and a small sitting area. A sink is located behind the greenhouse. Five gallons of water are provided, with more available upon request. There is a flushable toilet in the outhouse, with an attached shower using a rechargeable water pump and shower head. Sheets, two bath towels, cooking utensils, an electric tea kettle, compostable cups and plates, dish towels, and dish soap are provided. Nearby attractions: • Collis P. Huntington State Park – 4.7 miles • Putnam Memorial State Park – 3.5 miles • Franc Preserve – 1.4 miles • Bethel Train Station – 1.3 miles • Blue Jay Orchards – 1 mile • Local restaurants, live music, shops, and a grocery store in the town center – 1.4 miles For guests planning to visit New York City, Metro-North trains from Bethel Station run directly to Grand Central during peak hours. Southeast Station in Brewster, NY, also offers through trains throughout the day and is approximately 25 minutes away.

Up, down. Up, down. Up, down…the rolling hills of Black Rock State Park would lull you to sleep in a heartbeat. That is, if your legs weren’t pumping and sweat wasn’t trickling down your face. With each crest of a wooded hilltop, the hiking gets even better, and more remote, too.Scenic views and cool waters put Black Rock high on the traveler’s list when the weekend rolls around. The western highlands of Connecticut don’t get much better than this. Ask any local—the Mattatuck Trail from the Grey section of Waterbury to the Wigwam Reservoir in Morris is one hike you don’t want to miss. At the very least, it’s a good place to start.

The term “back to nature” is taken very seriously at Housatonic Meadows State Park. You thought an afternoon in the park was reconnecting with Mother Nature? Think again. For a real taste of unabated wilderness try visiting this place. One night under the stars on the banks of the Housatonic River will have you howling at the moon and starting fires without those sissy matches.Tucked away in the rugged hills of the northwestern uplands, a trip here will carry you satisfyingly far from any major metropolitan area. No four-lane highways and bumper-to-bumper traffic—this is the land of deer-crossing signs and single-lane bridges. You can fish the river, roam miles of trails and spend the night just steps away from both. No matter what time you visit, nature welcomes you.

Escape on Wheels - West Haven

This Jayco RV is decorated and designed for two people who want to create a cozy getaway to relax and celebrate beautiful, unforgettable moments. It's an escape that takes you away from the routine and offers a unique experience with a vintage style where you'll feel good vibes with every breath. With the cold season upon us, the RV has built-in heating, and I've also added an electric heater to keep you warm during your stay. It has its own control panel and thermostat. When you're going to use the shower, I suggest turning on the water heater 25 minutes beforehand so you can enjoy a lovely shower. But don't forget to turn it off after you're finished, as it will stay on unnecessarily. It's also important to know that when you use the toilet, only use toilet paper, as it's specially designed for this type of RV and won't cause blockages. Smoking is prohibited inside this property; if smoke is found, an extra cleaning fee will be charged. This is also an ideal space to relax and work remotely, as it has an independent antenna to provide internet access to the entire unit and all the electronic equipment you need. I will ensure the unit is delivered to you with all its accessories in working order so you won't have any problems. I always suggest guests ask any necessary questions so they can use it without any issues. On the day of arrival, you will receive another message to refresh your knowledge of how to use the campervan. Close to the beach and sand, the city offers activities nearby so you won't have to go far to enjoy them. This campervan has all the qualities of a house, with the only difference being that you're on wheels—something truly delightful. I have two bicycles so you can take a ride along the bike path on the beach and enjoy the majestic scenery. A different way to have fun and experience something new. After reading about the campervan's features, if you have any questions, I will be happy to answer them to ensure your stay is as pleasant as possible.
