This is a super cool old school camper that a friend and I stayed in for a weekend of fun and sun in Rockaway. It’s perfectly located to access most of what the area has to offer and It’s probably the cheapest option you’ll find. It’s also a total vibe—you either like the idea of this or you don’t. You know which you are. That being said, it’s bare bones (which is a pro or a con depending on your preference), shower is outdoors which I enjoyed (but not for everyone) and the bathroom is in the house and downstairs, (which again, could be a turn off.) I highly recommend it to anyone who’s into that style of living. It has the basics, and while there are ways to make food there, I would recommend checking out the local food scene. It even rained an entire day we were there and no leaks! Overall, me and my buddy had a blast and I wouldn’t hesitate to rent this again. Probably not the best suited for young children or high-maintenance folks—but you know what you’re getting yourself into!
If you do go, I highly recommend setting up the lawn chairs in front and cracking a beer. This setup is perfect for taking it easy and enjoying the moment.

Cute camper with great convenience to the beach! It is parked in a driveway in an urban environment so it's not like an isolated quiet space, but since we knew that going in found it perfect for an urban getaway!

Overall a good experience! Mike was a good host and responded always in a timely manner. The camper was a loud at night so would suggest wearing ear plugs to sleep. Lots of ways to easily get into Manhattan.

Trash wasn’t emptied, most of the lights didn’t work. The host brushed off any complaints and refused to do anything.

Mike’s camper was the perfect spot and had everything needed for our short stay. Rented a couple surfboards from Mike at a great price. Mike was hospitable and helpful whenever we needed anything. Definitely would recommend!

I did not like it at all because throughout the evening and the night there is noise (music and people shouting)
Overall we had a great time at Rockaway Beach but our stay at Mikes camper was ROUGH. The camper was run down and not as pictured at all. The awning was broken and rigged up with ropes and tape, the front door didn't seal at the top or the sides, there were towels as window coverings, no working lights inside, multiple overloaded power strips, no power for the fridge or the ac halfway through, multiple leaks in the roof (+a bucket of water, water stains, water damage), standing water in the backyard making it unbearable to be outside at all because of the mosquitoes, no toilet paper in the bathroom (we got some from the house guests tho). Speaking of the houseguests, the host didn’t mention that the house where the camper is sitting would be rented out via airbnb - the houseguests were not aware of there being a camper on the property either or that other people would be renting there.This could have been very dangerous for any of us given the fact that our outdoor bathroom & shower were connected to the house. Luckily they ended up being nice guys.
The host also didn’t see our messages about needing toilet paper until after we had left, conveniently. Overall a very bad experience and would 100% not recommend. Honestly the camper should probably just be condemned at this point.

60's Surf Camper in Rockaway Beach!
Everything was awesome. We showed up 3 hours early on accident (mixed up check-in times) and Mike was still very welcoming and helped us out a lot. Knew a lot about the area and pointed us the right direction for food and amusement. 10/10 camper and host. Definitely recommend staying here if you want to have an awesome experience!

This is a fun place to stay if you're looking for a unique Rockaway/NYC experience. It's close to the beach, right next to the subway and not a far walk to the NYC Ferry, which I loved being able to take.
The camper is from the '60's but has been well kept up and the inside is very nice and clean. You feel like you have room to sit and hangout as well as sleep. Despite being close to the street it has curtains that gave it a private feel too. You could hear was some noise from the neighborhood but that's to be expected at the beach and in NYC :)
The bathroom (in the house) and the shower were both nice as well. And there was water to drink in the camper which was really appreciated after a day at the beach.
Mike was good at communicating and check-in/out was super easy.

The WiFi was strong and the place was mostly as described. To be clear, this is not a camper parking in someone's yard as much as it is a camper parking in someone's *driveway*, so you are sleeping pretty much right on the street. It was very windy when I stayed there and it rattled the camper, and wind blew in from everywhere. The bed not really a mattress, but the original camper cushions, with sheets. The bed has a depression in the middle and is not flat like a real bed. The toilet is around the other side of the house from the driveway where the camper is parked, so you need to walk across someone's front yard in Queens in the middle of the night to get to it. Also, whomever is staying or living in the house where the camper is parked can see right into the bench/table part--very little privacy. I needed a place to crash last-minute and was grateful to have one. The camper and the bathroom facilities were clean. But just know generally that this is two cushions with a space between them and a toilet next to a house, in some guy's driveway in Queens.
It’s a fine place to sleep for a night either before or after a beach day. It’s not private, the inside of the camper is also very exposed, but it’s a cute spot and nice for a night in a cute neighborhood.

The camper was great! Perfectly cozy (with enough space!) for myself and my boyfriend. Loved being able to explore Arverne and spend time at the beach with a convenient home base. Would happily go again!

While the trailer itself was cute, and walkable to the brewery and the beach, there were things left out of the listing that were a surprise to my husband and I. First, the trailer is in front of a rented house, so when we were there, there was a large amount of people staying in the home. They were also unaware that there was a trailer in the front. Secondly, the shower and restroom are on the outside, on the opposite side of the house, next to where the backyard is and people from the house are hanging out. So, you are very close to them while using the facilities and it feels very open, and you need to walk in front of the house facing the street after taking a shower or going to the restroom. Additionally, the trailer itself has very few shades in it, so at night time, it's very bright inside with the street lights. The trailer is also on a flight path from JFK, so on Friday night, we heard planes going overhead until past midnight. I wish I would have known this to bring eye shades and also to bring ear plugs.
If I knew all the details about trailer before booking it, I would not have booked it. The bed and other elements inside are cute and well-done, and the picnic table is really nice, but overall, I think there needs to be a lot more information upfront so the person coming understands what they are getting into. We left a night early due to the issues above.
This was so perfect. Awesome vibes, super comfortable, great breeze, great host. We’ll be back, and you should book this before someone else does.

We had such a nice stay at Mike's! We come out to Rockaway often so it was a nice change of pace to stay the night and wake up there. The camper is super cute, just the right amount of space. The vibe is so unique. Not so many true urban beach towns like Rockaway! We had a ridiculous dinner at Whit's End around the corner. It was a very good time. Thanks Mike!
