We have cameras please dont steal our wood. We are a 30-acre working active Hay farm. We purchased the farm when my grandfather passed away in 2014. It was once used to feed his cows. We had a working dairy farm. Now the property is used for your enjoyment and ours. As well as making hay. We have an 8-acre garden planted with rhubarb, raspberries, and berries on the farm too. We are located next to the Wallkill River which the campsite overlooks. We have 3 campsites available to choose from. Toilet available, campfires permitted, picnic table provided, pets welcome. Be advised we are a working farm so you will see woodpiles, machinery, such as Tractors and other items sometimes hanging around. Be aware we have 3 campsites so outhouse is used by all 3 campsite please be courteous of others. Leave the lid down after use ,wipe up after yourself. Treat it like its your own house. We appreciate it We ask after 8pm noise is kept down to respect other campers. We are located across the river from City Winery who does play music when they have weddings. This tucked away property is just minutes from route 6, quiet, and just the right amount of wild. We loved it so much that we stayed an extra night to soak it all in. There is plenty of firewood, room to adventure, and the views are amazing!

4 nights at Starwind Farm

Cynthia is an amazing human and great conversation! Her farm is an amazing property. Absolutely worth stepping foot on. I slept better here than I have in a very long time. Great views all around. Was in the area to visit a family member in Amherst. This was a welcome place to camp at the end of a few busy, long days. Didn't get to experience and enjoy the property as much as I'd hoped (didn't have enough time during my days there). However, I'll gladly book this Hipcamp again! Cynthia greeted me upon arrival, and showed me where the bathroom was (it's a nice walk through a very well kept horse barn). She even turned on the bathroom heater before I got there (my stay was during fall nights that got a bit cold). I car camped in an SUV and had no problem finding a level spot to park and set-up my sleeping area for the night. Lighting at night on the property felt safe and bright...but not TOO bright.

We are experienced campers and Sarah’s land was fantastic. It was much larger than we expected and right along the river. There was a little music from the City Winery across the way but it was mostly pretty faint. We hope to come back again soon!

We enjoyed our stay at site 2 and would recommend! Sarah was very helpful and communicative through our 1 night stay. It was our first time bikepacking and it was a great introduction. We took the Metro North train from Grand Central to Poughkeepsie, and then rode mostly on the Empire State Trail and the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail to the farm. Beautiful fall views and smooth riding! The site was spacious, clean, and generally quiet and peaceful (we could hear some other campsites, City Winery, and the town nearby). The hill down to the river is pretty steep with slightly loose footing but we had no problem with it. At night, we saw stars and relaxed with a bonfire with wood provided for an extra fee. Thank you Sarah for a great experience!

Very quiet and private camping areas. Communication was excellent—Ronald was quick to respond to messages, which we appreciated. We did not get a chance to check out the horses, but maybe next time. Host was super nice—came over to chat with us before we left. Would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay in our pop-up camper at Cynthia's place. The land is really level, with easy pull through parking. The bathroom that's available was very clean and convenient. We had fun exploring the stream and watching the horses.

Weekend Trip to Historic Riverside Farm

I will come back again and again. This was the most relaxing trip I’ve had. There are not many sites to offer private and peaceful camping. We were able to watch blue herons, egrets and geese fly in, in the morning and land on the river. We were able to enjoy yoga and meditation right by the river. We had two partridges hang out at our site for two days that just wandered around and were of no nuisance. Sitting in the swing at the top of the hill we had deer wandering around us. Despite getting there after dark, the instructions to get to our site were easy and after settling in, the owner came down and greeted us with our eggs. Everything is well taken care of. We feel like we’ve found a hidden gem.
